Why can't I see certain users' posts or threads?

Not really. The owner just doesn't see a good return on investment there, so he disabled the feature—it was likely eating up way too much server bandwidth and driving up costs. He’s not planning on bringing it back either. Honestly, from what I can tell, nobody even cares. Traffic is tanking and activity on the forum has been dying out for a while now.

This is driving me absolutely insane!!

What really gets under my skin is this frustratingly stubborn "silence" regarding this whole issue.
Some brief little statement from one of the super-mods just doesn't cut it. Not even close.

Actually... given the circumstances (especially after—let's be real here—forever being stuck with that broken feature... and all the loud-ass complaining from everyone on Reddit), you could easily call it unprofessional.

It honestly feels like Reddit thinks it has a total monopoly on online communities and doesn't face any real competition, so they feel entitled to do whatever they want, whenever they want, assuming we'll just stick around regardless.

Reddit should at least try to find some kind of middle ground. For instance, they could get rid of these obnoxious full-screen ads—which I'm sure are driving everyone crazy—until they actually sort out the search engine issue.

Honestly, the best thing we could all do is just stop showing up, stop posting, and boycott the site until this gets resolved. If half the user base just walked away, I bet this whole mess would be fixed within a few hours. ☕

Look, just because there’s a date listed on the announcement doesn't mean the feature is magically coming back on that specific day. What do you mean "two months"? That’s temporary? Given how things are going, it’s probably going to be two months or even way longer...

Look, you have Google Custom Search right there at the top, which basically acts as a quick shortcut for a specific Google function that lets you search one particular site for whatever you need—something like: http://www.google.com/search?q=site:w... some user.
As for those annoying advertisements, you can just grab an AdBlocker for pretty much any browser you're using these days. 🙂

It’s honestly brutal—I can’t even begin to describe the absolute torture of trying to log into this Reddit thread, let alone reply to someone, much less respond to a direct message. And if you think it’s bad on my laptop, try doing it on my phone—it’s a total nightmare, especially since the option to view my own posts or anyone else's keeps glitching out. Pop-up ads are constantly jumping in my face, and the site crashes so often I’m just sitting there waiting several minutes for it to crawl back to life. Honestly, I might just give this site the title of a sweet old retiree just trying to make it through the day 🙄

there are plenty of other forums out there 🙂

honestly, Reddit has always been kind of shady about hiding user posts too; you basically have to dig through the advanced search settings instead of just using the quick menu options.
