No hard feelings—I wasn't actually putting my own name forward for candidacy; I was simply proposing a set of rules. I still maintain they’re solid, but what's done is done.
In my view, establishing sound regulations is far more critical than selecting a moderator. As we all know, leaders come and go, but once a season kicks off, we are stuck with the rulebook. (Sure, you can tweak the minor details, but the core framework remains set.)

Personally, I’ll definitely be casting my vote either for you or perhaps for Matthew Young35. However, if I may be so bold, I believe my proposed rules offer the ideal compromise between yours—which are too similar to the current ones—and his, which are far too radical (in my opinion, focusing solely on the top five is overkill). 😁

That’s exactly why we need to wrap up this election soon, so we still have time to refine the winning rules. Regarding your specific proposal, I’d love to write myself in as the director alongside them, but let's face it, that would look absolutely pathetic.
I just hope that regardless of which proposal wins, we all work together to finalize the rules.

By the way, have you considered teaming up with darkmarlin16 to merge your candidacies?

Wow, how rude, lol 😁 I'm the one who quit?! 😁 You're the one who ruined our entire season by constantly pulling out, quitting, and self-permabanning... right at the very start 🙄 😁

So I guess you shouldn't be surprised that they aren't offering you a new contract 🤷 😁

No pressure at all—if you ever feel like I might be able to lend a hand with something, just say the word. As long as I'm not caught in the middle of a deadline or some other time crunch, I'm happy to help. Why wouldn't I?

I was honestly on the verge of reporting you for trolling. 😁 🤣

Moderators generally drift in and out because of the rules and because of the opportunities to troll participants that those rules provide.
I realize that for some, simplifying the rules and leaving all decision-making power strictly to the moderator—without any commissions or voting processes—might be an issue (and I don't mean you) because they wouldn't have anything left to troll or look for loopholes in. Yet, I am also quite certain it would increase the enjoyment for the majority of the competitors.
The sooner we realize that the current trajectory is unsustainable, the sooner we can foster a competition where we aren't losing more and more participants every single season.

Since TBF is heading out, my plans have been thrown into total chaos because he was the one holding the editing permissions for the poll.
We’ll kick things off with the selection process once I get the poll sorted and regain control over the settings.
Until then, you still have time to submit any changes or nominate new candidates.

Is it possible to start a brand new thread with its own poll, migrate all the posts from this one over there, and then just delete this thread entirely?

That’s exactly what’s going to happen if I don't get this current mess sorted out immediately!

The poll is officially live, so take a moment to weigh in and cast your vote.

As previously established, voting rights are extended to all participants from any competition listed in this PDF over the last four seasons, though we’re also opening the floor to new candidates who are equally entitled to vote. Just a reminder: attempting to game the system with clone accounts is strictly prohibited.

A winning proposal requires a simple majority. If we don't reach that threshold, we will launch a runoff election featuring the top-voted candidates.

We plan to close the poll once we feel a sufficient majority of interested parties have participated.

That covers everything.

I would like to extend a sincere invitation to everyone here to cast their vote for Douglas Patel32. It is my genuine hope that you will grant me the opportunity to serve, as I am fully committed to acting as a fair, balanced, and just moderator for this community.
Furthermore, I want to emphasize that should I be selected, I am more than willing to refine and polish our rulebook through open discussion, provided we can reach a consensus together. I also want to address a point that seems to be a significant concern for some members: if I am chosen to lead, I will step back from active competition within the Championship itself to ensure there is no conflict of interest.
Please, lend me your trust; I promise to uphold the integrity of this group and ensure that your confidence in me is well-placed.
🙂

I’m leading this by a landslide; honestly, it might be time to just wrap up the poll already!

Absolutely... 😁 especially since you seem to have maneuvered yourself into a potentially tricky spot where your credibility is being squeezed by two different sets of rules at once. Still, it’s quite something to see that even a day after the poll went live, you’re still sitting there with 100% of the votes. 🙏

Listen, I realize things are pretty hectic right now, but it would be wise if everyone weighed in. This is our first time collectively raising our voices in such an organized fashion—both regarding the rules and the moderator—and it would be a genuine shame not to make the most of this opportunity.

I am asking everyone to please cast your votes now, so we actually have enough time left to define the things that remain undefined!

I mean, what kind of elections are we even talking about if you can just go ahead and vote for yourself? 😕

It’s just not ethical, honestly. ☕

Forget the train stuck in the snow... when you have elections where the candidates and the voters are one and the same, you have to expect people to vote for themselves. It isn't just ethically sound; frankly, the alternative would be a disaster. How can you possibly demand that someone step up as a leader if they don't even believe they are the best choice among the options provided?

Just imagine if a figure like a local Governor ran for office and decided to cast his vote for his opponent instead. Would it even be ethical for him to then turn around and ask anyone else to support his own campaign?

I’d love to share my thoughts, but honestly, I don't really feel like digging through all those different sets of rules myself. 😬 Could someone maybe give me a quick summary of how they differ? 😁

The core structure of this competition remains virtually unchanged from what we currently have in place—everything from the roster of participants and registration process to the team dynamics, transfers, free agents, and the prediction format stays the same.
Predictions must be submitted no later than 10 minutes before the race starts.
We aren't factoring in the pole position or starting grid placement.
The scoring system has been tweaked specifically to ensure that no extra points are handed out for DNFs, DNSs, or False Starts.
The method for determining rankings is staying pretty much as it always has been.
The trophy for exact finishing positions isn't an official part of this specific competition, though we can display it if necessary.
The number of jokers has been increased to 5.
Users who are under a ban will still be able to participate passively during their suspension period.
The Moderator holds full authority as long as they remain in that role, though they can be replaced via a majority vote.

Look, Terry Carter2 already summarized his points... mine are already as brief as they can possibly be, and Matthew Young35 kept his pretty concise too..

Hopefully Douglas Patel32 will wrap up his thoughts soon because his posts are getting pretty long as well...
