Terry Carter2 said:The core structure of this competition remains virtually unchanged from what we currently have in place—everything from the roster of participants and registration process to the team dynamics, transfers, free agents, and the prediction format stays the same.
Predictions must be submitted no later than 10 minutes before the race starts.
We aren't factoring in the pole position or starting grid placement.
The scoring system has been tweaked specifically to ensure that no extra points are handed out for DNFs, DNSs, or False Starts.
The method for determining rankings is staying pretty much as it always has been.
The trophy for exact finishing positions isn't an official part of this specific competition, though we can display it if necessary.
The number of jokers has been increased to 5.
Users who are under a ban will still be able to participate passively during their suspension period.
The Moderator holds full authority as long as they remain in that role, though they can be replaced via a majority vote.
😁

Thanks 🙏

Now I'll ask everyone else to wrap things up so I can decide who I'll generously grant my vote to 😬 (and from what I can see, it might just end up being the deciding factor 🤣)

cosmicridge5, you should definitely vote for the option that imposes financial penalties for dropping out mid-season. That way, you might actually force redheron12 to stick with the championship even after he hits that first inevitable slump once the season kicks off. Of course, there’s no guarantee it would work and he could still bail, but at least then—in the spirit of gender equality—we could view his penalty payments as a form of forum alimony. 😁 🤣

Ethan Jones5, are you planning to vote for yourself, or are you waiting until the other players and candidates have made their moves?

Ethan Jones5 said:Look, Terry Carter2 already summarized his points... mine are already as brief as they can possibly be, and Matthew Young35 kept his pretty concise too..

Hopefully Douglas Patel32 will wrap up his thoughts soon because his posts are getting pretty long as well...

So just list the key differences then😬

Seriously though, I think that might actually encourage more people to vote, because most folks probably don't have the patience for long reads anyway😬

Maybe I should just apply to be the moderator and set those rules myself? 🤣

Though, I suppose any sanctions against him would probably need to be tougher than just a fine if we actually want to motivate him to manage his little ''blackouts''. 😢 😬

Here is a brief overview of what I am bringing to the table this season:
- The core concept remains largely consistent with our previous iterations.
- We will be predicting the race winner, the podium finishers, and the fastest lap driver.
- All predictions must be submitted no later than 10 minutes before qualifying begins.
- The scoring system has been revamped; while the primary points remain standard (25-18-15...), we are introducing secondary points based on how close you get to a driver's actual finishing position. For instance, if you nail the exact position, you earn 5 points; if you are off by just one spot, you get 3 points; and if you are off by two spots, you receive 1 point. Anything beyond that results in zero.
- The number of jokers has been scaled back to 2.
- Those who have received a ban will be allowed to participate, but only as passive observers.
- Any form of copying or plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
- Scoring will be based on the initial results immediately following the checkered flag; any subsequent penalties issued after the race are not taken into account.
- In an effort to ensure complete fairness and transparency as the moderator, I will not be participating as a player in the competition myself.

Now you've gone and provoked me. A Permaban on redheron12, please. If you won't do it, I'll just have to make it my mission to push you toward a perm 😁

In all seriousness, you are easily one of the top contributors on this entire board—one of those few users I actually respect. So, if you're truly looking for a permanent ban, go find someone else to bother. 🙏 😁

The idea is that every player would need to put down a deposit of $XX before joining the championship. This amount would be forfeited if they drop out of the competition with fewer than two races left in the season. Naturally, the deposit wouldn't be returned to anyone else either. 🤣
That money would then be used during the XX round to fund prizes for the top three individuals and the first three pairs in the team championship.

Look, I’m not going to go out and vote for myself. For heaven's sake, we aren't politicians.

cosmicridge5 said:So just list the key differences then😬

My system is completely different, and honestly, trying to highlight the differences from what’s already out there is a struggle because you guys aren't actually playing by the book—you're just skimming through the strategy. Here it is; read it if you want. It won't take long, and it won't hurt anyone.😉

The scoring system.

Race winner. 2 points
Stand. 6 points (3x2)
Driver standings 20 points (10x2)
Fastest lap. 2 points
10 driver duels 20 points (10x2)

Total possible points: 50

Race winner, podium finishers, and top point scorers.

The penalties handed down by the FIA after the race are officially counted.
It’s not about predicting exactly which driver finishes where; you're just betting on whether they make the podium or land somewhere in the top ten, regardless of their specific rank.

duels

The winner from the previous round has to set up 10 duels for the upcoming race at least 7 days in advance.
A driver can be involved in a maximum of three duels.
If both drivers pull out, the duel is canceled.

Box

Each driver is allowed a maximum of three pit stops before the race officially kicks off.
During a single pit stop, you're only allowed to make up to two changes to your prediction.
Whenever a player hits the pit box, they automatically lose one point from their total score.

Setting pairs

You can set your race pairs starting from the beginning of the GP weekend on Monday, right up until five minutes before the lights go out.
Once the points are tallied and we have a tie, the advantage goes to those who... They set the pairs earlier. And they're moving up in the rankings too.

Scoring:

The scoring system is identical to what they use in F1 (25-18-15-12...).
When points are tied, the tiebreaker comes down to who has more wins, then second-place finishes, third-place, and so on.
Teams with a maximum of two members score points just like they do in F1.

Sanctions

Dropping out of a competition mid-season—especially after missing two races without a legitimate excuse—is grounds for an immediate expulsion. You'll also be blacklisted, which means you're barred from participating in any future competitions on this subforum.

-Any cheating attempts will result in an F1 sanction consisting of a 10-point deduction from that round's total score. If a user is caught twice, they’ll be kicked out of the competition entirely and face the same penalties as someone who officially withdraws (see above)

Competition Topics

-In my opinion, the official thread should strictly be for posting predictions and pit stops so everything stays organized in one spot. Let's just open a separate chat topic for all the actual discussions

They can join the fray, sure, but they aren't touching the poll voting!
Your only option is to sign up at the start of next season following whatever rules we decide to implement!

I don't see any reason why they couldn't start playing right away. Granted, they won't be climbing the leaderboard just yet, but it gives them a feel for how everything works.

Alex Gomez4, there's a thread at the top regarding the championship. This Friday, before the race starts, put together a ranked list of drivers based on how you think the race will end (for anyone you think won't finish, just write DNF instead of their rank), and also call out who you think takes pole position and who gets fastest lap.
By doing that, you're effectively entering the competition, and then on Sunday after the checkered flag, you can see how accurate your predictions were. 👍

update:
I am suggesting to the chosen moderator that they adopt the simpler scoring system from my proposal. 😁

Terry Carter2 said:The poll is officially live, so take a moment to weigh in and cast your vote.

As previously established, voting rights are extended to all participants from any competition listed in this PDF over the last four seasons, though we’re also opening the floor to new candidates who are equally entitled to vote. Just a reminder: attempting to game the system with clone accounts is strictly prohibited.

A winning proposal requires a simple majority. If we don't reach that threshold, we will launch a runoff election featuring the top-voted candidates.

We plan to close the poll once we feel a sufficient majority of interested parties have participated.

That covers everything.
😁

I am just stepping in to remind all participants of the rules mentioned above, as I have noticed some individuals casting votes who clearly do not qualify under these guidelines.
Any such votes will be disregarded.
