Sutil and Bianchi are already totaled right next to that crane, and you've got the marshal up in the tower—literally sitting right next to the wreck—just staring at the whole mess and waving a green flag. 🤦

Wait, where's the airbox? Shouldn't the guy in the orange pants be standing right behind it?

All the corner marshals are just volunteers working for free

Because apparently that’s just "the spirit of racing." Total idiocy.

You get what you pay for, I guess. Honestly, if I were working for peanuts, I’d be waving the wrong flag too

His condition is being shared with the crew and his family first... the public will find out when the timing is right.
What, you want doctors tweeting from the OR about how he's doing?

I’m worried Joe might be onto something here. 😢
There wasn't even a single clip of the crash on the broadcast or later on Sky, and there's just zero news...
That doesn't look good at all. 😢

Where the hell is the damn helicopter when you actually need it? I guess every single minute counts right now, and we're just sitting here waiting.

@Joe

If anything serious happens to Bianchi, God forbid, are you going to have a total meltdown over F1? Since Indy is clearly the pinnacle of motorsport in your eyes—mostly because people actually die there.

I don't even know what to say. It's just a massive shame. 😢

Some seriously weird info coming from Sky...
Ted is saying the helicopter took off right after the ambulance left—basically at the same time. So, the idea is they could have flown sooner if they hadn't been tied up with medical stuff in the ambulance. 😕
It seems pretty sketchy to suggest an ambulance, which is obviously way slower, would be a better bet than a helicopter. 🤷

The chopper was right there

but apparently there are two different stories on why they didn't fly

1) weather kept it grounded

2) the doctors decided against it

And hey—neither of those is officially confirmed yet

It occurs to me, if I may be so bold, that they might have mentioned having to cut into the car just to reach Jules; is it not entirely possible that the mechanics also tore away that specific section in their desperate rush to get to him?

There was even footage of a helicopter taking off, but honestly, what kind of shape was that thing actually in? Was it even outfitted to transport someone in that condition? I mean, obviously, a chopper is faster, but there’s got to be some logical explanation for why they didn't just use it immediately...

I'm seeing reports on X that the police arrived at the track and seized whatever was left of the car. To be blunt, I think we've seen enough. This whole thing feels like a closed case at this point; too much time has slipped by without any actual, concrete information being released.

Thank God doctors aren't volunteers, right?

In those kinds of conditions, a helicopter could fly without much trouble at all—hell, there was even footage of one mid-air.

I suspect CW might be looking at an early retirement after today's performance...

There was some talk on Sky about the helicopter situation. I guess whether it’s Herbert or Brundle, they started mentioning how head injuries make helicopters risky because of the pressure changes and stuff... so they opted for an ambulance instead, even though people confirmed the chopper was right there and ready to go.
Anyway, looks like things are pretty bad.

I probably won't be able to use a defibrillator while we're up in a helicopter.
Which just goes to show... things were looking pretty grim.

Looks like things are going south fast—pretty nasty situation.

Senna got sent out by chopper. But yeah—the explanation actually holds water.

Bottom line? It looks pretty bad.

If the helicopter flies high, sure, that could be an issue. But if they keep it low, there shouldn't be any pressure changes to worry about.
From what I gathered, the hospital is about 40 miles from the track. That’s an eternity in an ambulance, even if you’re cruising down an empty stretch of highway like a deserted interstate in the Midwest. Imagine trying that on the heavy traffic roads they definitely have in the USA...

Senna died on the track. Obviously, nobody cared how they hauled him away....
