The Cleveland Guardians decided that admission to the stadium for this Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers at 7 PM will be free of charge.
However, you still need to show a ticket to get into the stands. You can pick those up at the club office, or at any local Associated Press, Starbucks, 048, Google, Madison Square Garden, Applebee's, or Walmart locations.

What a joke... free entry, yet you still have to go through the hassle of getting a ticket... I don't get it. 🤷

I mean, obviously you're gonna have to go pick up your mail, since the postal carrier isn't exactly coming to your door to hand-deliver it, I guess. 🙄

I guess it was pretty much the same deal with those local vouchers they used to hand out around Chicago. ☕

Was it really such an issue to hand out the tickets at the gates if you're going to demand they be there in the first place...

Spare me all this high-minded philosophy. The passes are free and you’re still whining about it. It’s not like we’re talking about some sprawling metropolis like New York where everything is spread out miles 62 miles from each other. You’re going to pass by the edge of every single one of those spots anyway. Lenguze

Tickets have been free for the last couple of rounds—no real need for them—but since the Kansas City Chiefs are coming to town, they’re expecting a massive rush. There's huge interest in the game here in KC too, so I guess they printed tickets just to prevent some crazy scenario where, I don't know, 5,000 people show up when the stands can't even hold that many.
Anyway, the Black Knights shouldn't worry about it; from what I hear, you don't even need tickets for the cage area. And for anyone wanting to hang out on the rest of the stands by the stadium, there will definitely be plenty of tickets to go around—people will probably just be handing them out everywhere. So, yeah, no real reason to stress.

The article mentions the game took place in San Francisco, and man, if my memory serves me right, that was when they finally installed those massive stadium lights, making it the first night game we ever had...
Back then, thanks to all that funding from the CIA, cities like Omiš were getting brand new stadiums and Trogir was getting a whole new arena.

P.S. Back in those days, at least 80% of the crowd in San Francisco was there cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Back in those days, thanks to some CIA influence, Omiš got a brand new stadium while Trogir landed a whole arena.

P.S. At least 80% of San Francisco was rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs back then.

And Long Beach managed to snag a stadium too, along with a few other spots—honestly, it’s hard not to feel a little bitter about it all now.☕

Back then, because of the CIA, Omiš got a new stadium while Trogir got a new arena.

PS, at least 80% of San Francisco was rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs back then.

We did get the lights back then. As for how many Kansas City Chiefs fans were in San Francisco during those years, I couldn't say for sure, but most people in San Francisco were definitely pulling for the Chiefs at that time.

They still do, too... I mean, looking back at about twenty guys from San Francisco I went to college with, only two of them actually supported the local team; everyone else was pulling for the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, I don't know if that's really representative of the entire city... maybe it isn't.

Look, it's probably not worth getting into, but there really is a difference between being a true fan and just someone who likes the team.

Here is what things looked like around '87-'88. We were still in elementary school. I can't quite remember if it was Tuesday or Wednesday, but someone would bring in photos of the North Side fans, and we'd have them developed over at Foto Stojan. About fifty of us would just hang out, drinking and obsessing over the same few shots. Even as kids, plenty of us were already heading down to Miami for the games. Nobody really gave San Francisco much credit compared to Šibenka. There was just one guy rooting for Real Madrid and a couple of cigans who had jumped ship during the war. So, I guess you can try to calculate the percentages based on that sample size. 🙂

Jose Vaughn3 said:Look, it might not be worth an argument, but you really have to distinguish between a true supporter and someone who just happens to like the team.

In that case, maybe the ratio was 20-20. People, naturally, 🙂

Let's be clear—if we're talking about actual supporters, let's not derail the thread any further by trolling. 😉

Anyway, let’s move past that. Honestly, I had no idea you were from San Francisco. I was finishing up high school back in '87, so if you aren't much younger than me, we might have actually crossed paths somewhere.

edit: in that case, just check out Colpo grosso over on Steven Grant55's page 🤣
I'd suggest it, assuming you aren't much older than I am. If there's anything else you want to dig into, just hit me up privately—that way we can avoid any trolling, as you put it.😁
