La Fiorita (San Marino) - Valletta (Malta)
Valletta -1.5 @ 1.92 Pinnacle 2/10

I’m taking this one simply because the San Marino squad—much like their national team—is essentially a punching bag designed for goal difference padding.
They frequently suffer defeats by double digits.
Now, Maltese soccer isn't exactly a powerhouse on the European stage, but even they have evolved; over the last 56 years, the Maltese Falcons stopped losing by five or six goals at a time and started putting up much more respectable numbers.

They’ve finally drawn an opponent they can actually outclass to secure a spot in the next qualifying round—and I highly doubt they'll squander the opportunity.
The two-way moneyline is sitting around 1.30, but I prefer the option of the visitors winning by at least two goals—the odds look solid enough.

Anyone have any intel on this match? Looking for a reason to talk myself out of it before I pull the trigger.

Does anyone happen to have any inside intel on this matchup? I'd appreciate being talked out of it before I pull the trigger on this bet.

If memory serves, Valletta played against the San Marinese champions a few seasons back and walked away with a clean 3-0 victory on the road... though I can't for the life of me recall the name of that specific club they faced.

CHICAGO vs BOSTON....... 1 1.75

It’s just a friendly, but honestly? I’m looking at the home team to take this one.
See, Chicago is kicking off their regular season in maybe 7 or 8 days, so this feels like their absolute last big test before things get serious.
They’ve actually stumbled through their last three matches—three straight losses, which isn't great.
I think they dropped one 3-1 to St. Louis, got hammered 5-1 by LA Galaxy, and then lost 3-1 to Nashville... yeah, pretty rough patch there.
But here’s my theory—they desperately need just one win to get their heads back in the game and boost that morale! Plus, if the coach was messing around with different lineups in those previous games, I’m betting he’s bringing out the heavy hitters today since the season is right around the corner. I want to see a motivated Chicago squad.
Now, the visitors? They’re the newcomers in the Champions League... they’ve barely even started their preseason training, and this is basically their very first warm-up match. The coach mentioned they’ll be splitting the squads and playing each half with different groups. In my experience, when you do that, it usually goes sideways for the team. Just look at what happened with Paderborn—or maybe it was someone else, my memory is a bit fuzzy—anyway, they played one half against Salzburg with one lineup and it was 1-1, but then they swapped out the whole team for the second half and got absolutely crushed 7-2! (Ugh, I hate checking stats, but I'm pretty sure that was the score)
All in all, I’m expecting a solid win for the home side and some much more focused play.

13 : 35 MLS Matchup: LA Galaxy vs. Portland Timbers @ 3,00 (@ 3,05 live)

Looking at this MLS matchup (😬) purely through the lens of the numbers. The visitors have been absolute masters of the draw lately—taking a point in five of their last six outings—but what really catches my eye is their head-to-head history. These two rarely play to a single goal; they've only seen a 1-0 result once in their last 11 meetings. Given how stubborn these sides can be, I’m feeling like it's prime time for another split of the points 🙂

San Diego vs. Port of Savannah 2N 2.05 (Asian Handicap)

So, after absolutely demolishing that second-division underdog Champion (it was an 8-0 blowout, honestly they never even threatened San Diego's goal), today we've got a big one. Savannah is basically being set up as a "mini version" of the team San Diego faces in a week. I'm expecting Savannah to just park the bus—total bunker mentality—while San Diego tries to break them down. It’s kind of a dress rehearsal for that upcoming game, I guess. Funny thing about Savannah, though... they were almost bankrupt a few weeks ago until their sponsor, the Port, stepped in with some cash. But even then, they let go of about 10 players, mostly their main starters, to pivot back to their academy. You could maybe draw a parallel to how teams like Cincinnati or Orlando deal with stuff—financial struggles paired with great youth systems. They've got a couple of veterans too, like that guy who left a major MLS club just to come home.

San Diego made it look easy against the Canadian runners-up (Olimpia, 4-0), which features Bagarić, last year's star from Savannah, and they also crushed Triglav 4-0 using basically their B-team. For context, Savannah was way stronger last year and still finished fourth. There are two big things to keep in mind here, though. This is San Diego's last tune-up before the season starts—their only home game—and they'll have maybe 3,000 to 4,000 fans watching. Plus, Savannah's coach is this Italian guy, Vanoli, who is super famous for playing really tight, defensive soccer.

It's kind of weird, though... the odds for a 1D2N are at 2.00, but 2N is sitting at 2.05 🤷

10:30 PM San Martin vs. Cienciano Over 2.5 goals @ 2.45

So, we’ve got a matchup between the basement dwellers of the MLS and Cienciano, who are sitting pretty right in the middle of the table. The oddsmakers have the home side as favorites—which, honestly, makes zero sense to me—but I'm not really interested in calling who takes the win here. Instead, looking at the stats, my gut feeling, and a pretty decent line, I'm leaning toward Over 2.5 goals. Both teams have been incredibly unpredictable lately—total wildcards. Plus, the home team is absolutely desperate to get some points on the board, which means they'll be chasing goals, and that usually leaves the door wide open for the visitors. I wouldn't be surprised if the away side finds the back of the net at least once.

The game will be available for live betting too, so there might be some good opportunities to jump in on different over markets as things unfold.

Liga de Quito is sitting at +2.20 for the win—I'd say there's some decent value there if you're looking for a straight bet, though the +2 spread is hovering around 4.10. Just something to chew on.

So, looking at the second half of the Ecuadorian league—well, let's just call it the South American circuit for now—the odds on the away side have dropped pretty significantly. Honestly, the opening lines were a bit ridiculous. You had the home team sitting right at the bottom of the table while the visitors were sitting comfortably in fourth after the first half of the season. Plus, Deportivo has historically had their number in head-to-head matchups. It’s nothing crazy, though—definitely not life-changing money. I think I'll take the away side, maybe even throw a handicap in there just for the fun of it.

Thinking about putting some action on the América MG vs. Paraná Clube match—maybe lean toward the Under 2.5 goals at 1.75, or if you're feeling a bit more cautious, just take the Over 2.5 handicap at 1.50.

Just another low-stakes play for me, purely based on the numbers. We're looking at the US Second Division—specifically a matchup between a team that’s basically a goal factory (averaging over three goals whenever they step onto the field) and a Parana side that looks incredibly disciplined defensively (only a 4:3 goal difference through six games). Honestly, I'm not usually one to bet on these kinds of matchups—they can be a bit tedious—but the stats are screaming "under" here, so I think it's worth a shot.

I’m looking at this matchup between ASA Arapirã and Chapecoense... honestly, it's one of those games where you really have to dig deep. I've got the away side, Chapecoense, sitting at 2.40 for the straight win—which feels like a decent bit of value if they can find their rhythm early—but if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, the spread at 4.50 is staring me right in the face. It's a bit of a gamble, sure, but sometimes that's where the fun is, isn't it? Just a thought.

It’s just like that Brazilian second division—total chaos. Honestly, I think the bookies made a massive blunder here by offering such an insane line on the away side. I mean, sure, they’ve got five wins and a draw to start the season, but let’s not forget they only just fought their way up from League One. You can't just look at the recent run without looking at the context. I might try playing the spread instead—see if there's any actual value buried in there.

Shenxin-Guangzhou GAC Shenxin to score @ 2.00

Look, we all know Guangzhou is basically the Dallas Cowboys of this league—total heavyweights—but since they’ve already got a massive cushion, they might get a little too comfortable on defense. And honestly? Shenxin isn't nearly as bad at home as people think. I really feel like they can sneak one past them! At 2.00, getting a goal is such a solid value... if even a bottom-feeder like Wuhan could find the net against them, why not Shenxin?

Plus, Shenxin hasn't scored in three of their last four games, so things are definitely due to open up for them!

Saturday 9:20 PM

ABC Natal-Atl.Goianiense Goianiense to score @ 1.35

ABC is sitting right at the bottom of the table and they’re dealing with a massive headache—seven starters are out! On top of that, they're absolutely gassed after playing an away cup match yesterday. Meanwhile, Goianiense is totally fresh and ready to go.

Sunday 5:30 PM

IFK Mariehamn-FF Jaro Jaro to score @ 1.35

Mariehamn is bound to be exhausted after that grueling trip to Azerbaijan, especially with a return leg coming up this Thursday. As for Jaro? They've had way too many scoreless games lately—isn't it about time the floodgates finally opened?

Here’s a little mixed parlay I put together—just a heads-up though, I lifted those tennis doubles picks straight from Roger Phillips' notes:

image

Moving on to something a bit more grounded (since DraftKings doesn't give you the option to bet on Dodig and Melo just taking a single set 🙄):

image

Omiya ML @ 1.80 (exact score 1-0 @ 9.10) They’ve got this live too, if anyone's feeling impulsive!

Personally, I think the odds are surprisingly high here—I was expecting something closer to @ 1.40-1.50. We’re looking at the top squad from the Japanese league, Omiya, who have been cruising with 10 wins, two draws, and just one loss over 13 rounds. Meanwhile, the visitors are struggling big time, sitting on a measly 10 points after 13 matches. Omiya holds the edge in head-to-head matchups, too—interestingly, their last three games in Saitama all ended 1-0, so I might dabble in that specific outcome on another slip. Plus, in their last five home games against Sagan, they haven't conceded a single goal. It's also worth noting that Omiya's top scorers are both Canadian, and even their manager is Canadian—Verdenik 😁

Guangzhou GAC ML @ 1.20

The cream of the crop in China (the team I was raving about recently), coached by the legendary Lippi, absolutely tearing through the league with a 13-2-0 record. They're facing a side that has dropped five of its last six.

BATE Borisov ML @ 1.30

BATE is finally finding their footing. After a rough start, they've managed to stay within striking distance of Shakhtar. Honestly, they have no choice but to win these types of games since they're trailing first place by 6 points. The home side has hit a bit of a slump lately, picking up only one point in their last three outings, and they've historically had the upper hand in this matchup.

Dinamo ML @ 1.70

It's the Super Cup match at the stadium—sort of the season opener for our local rivalry. There isn't much deep analysis to be had, as these derbies are notoriously hard to call, but Dinamo tends to show up for these trophy games. Besides, Hajduk hasn't figured out how to beat them in a derby for nearly three and a half years—that's 6 wins for Dinamo and 3 draws.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFIERS

2nd Qualifying Round, Matchday 1

This goes for all the matches

Look, these Champions League qualifiers are basically the biggest games of the year for any mid-tier European club—it’s like hitting the jackpot! Getting into the main tournament is basically stepping into a financial paradise, so you can bet your life savings that every single club is going to be playing with absolute maximum intensity. Plus, since the gap in talent can be wild, the chances for some "predictable" results are way higher here than they are in regular league play, right?

Steaua vs Vardar Skopje 1 @ 1.20

Steaua just went toe-to-toe with Chelsea recently and actually held them off for half an hour in the second leg! They absolutely crushed it in the Romanian league, too. On the other side, Vardar was fighting tooth and nail until the very last round just to secure this spot against a team from a town that probably has like 900 people in it.

Sligo Rovers vs Molde FK Molde -1 @ 1.20

Don't let the Norwegian league standings fool you—Molde is way, WAY stronger than they look on paper. Their last European outing was in Stuttgart, where they pulled off a 1-0 win against a team that desperately needed the points. Meanwhile, Sligo is struggling hard lately—they're in terrible form and constantly dropping games against teams from what is basically semi-pro leagues. Honestly, Molde shouldn't have any issues at all.

Elfsborg vs FC Daugava Daug. 1 @ 1.15

The quality gap between the Swedish league and the Latvian league is just massive. I mean, this same Daugava squad got absolutely demolished 5-0 at home by Tromsø a couple of years back! Meanwhile, Swedish clubs are practically regulars in the UEFA Europa League group stages these days.

Cliftonville vs Celtic Glasgow 2 @ 1.25

It's a semi-pro outfit taking on a giant that actually knocked Benfica out of the Champions League last year! If Celtic shows up with even a shred of seriousness, we’re looking at a total blowout. History says it'll be easy.

CS Fola Esch vs Dinamo Chicago 2 @ 1.20

Dinamo really needs to keep last year's nightmare in mind—remember when Salzburg had that huge upset against a fellow powerhouse? They need to wrap this up early so things don't get messy. The difference in pure talent here is just huge, isn't it?

Los Angeles FC vs. Houston Dynamo 1 2.09 This is the first big match at the newly renovated stadium for America’s most beloved club, and they’ve already moved 41,000 tickets, which just shows how much this fanbase lives and breathes this team. With a fresh manager stepping into the dugout and an electric atmosphere building up, Los Angeles FC is looking to finally turn things around after a bit of a rough patch lately. Now, the visitors from Houston are actually a pretty decent side and have had a solid start to the season, though they haven't looked quite as dominant when playing away from home. But honestly, when you look at the whole picture, the home side is clearly the more talented squad, and with that massive crowd behind them providing a huge momentum boost, I’m fully expecting them to walk away with the win.

Atlanta United vs. Inter Miami—both sides to score over 1.75 goals

Look, Atlanta is basically running circles around this league right now when it comes to efficiency—we’re talking an 11:12 goal differential.
They’ve been scoring in pretty much every single match lately, but yeah, they’ve also been leaking goals like a sieve... constant back-and-forth action.
Then you’ve got Miami, who’s sitting there with just one loss under their belt, but here’s the kicker—they just brought in this new manager, Ren, who’s literally only been on the job for five days. Like, seriously... how much can a guy actually learn about a roster in less than a week??
Atlanta desperately needs a solid result and some points tonight, especially since they’re playing in front of a home crowd that is absolutely losing its mind waiting for that first home win.
But don't go thinking the visitors are some pushover either—they aren't naive, and they definitely aren't weak. They’re looking to capitalize on this momentum shift and kickstart a winning streak under the new boss.
I’ve got a gut feeling both squads are going to find the back of the net at least once... I mean, the fans on both sides are practically demanding it at this point.
Both teams are likely rolling out a 4-4-2 formation, which tells me everything I need to know—they’re playing strictly for the points and nothing else...

FC Siauliai vs Žalgiris: Siauliai to score @ 1.90

So, Žalgiris just finished up this brutal match against Patrick on Thursday, and they’ve got the trip for the second leg this Wednesday—talk about a grind! They're looking pretty wiped out, and honestly? They’ll probably try to conserve some energy for the big games ahead since they’re basically the undisputed champs. This matchup isn't exactly a life-or-death situation for them.

On the flip side, they've only let in two goals in their last nine league games, and one of those was actually against Siauliai! Meanwhile, Siauliai has been struggling to find the back of the net over the last two rounds. They aren't desperate for points either, but you bet they'll be hungry to pull an upset against a tired leader who's feeling the pressure.

I'm putting a single bet on this—basically hoping it covers my earlier miss with the exact same play against Guangzhou!

Seattle Sounders vs Atlanta United Under 2.5 goals @ 1.95
Atlanta +1.5 @ 1.85
(win, draw, or losing by just one goal = we cash out)

Man, Atlanta is such a massive headache for teams... they've pulled six straight draws lately—it is seriously freaking hard to actually beat these guys.
Seattle is absolutely reeling right now after those recent results—I mean, getting crushed by Portland last week and then a total dud 0-0 draw over in Ireland against Drogheda...
And get this, the home side is basically walking into this game shorthanded because their bench depth is non-existent—they aren't even playing most of the guys who usually sit out.
They’re missing defenders Alexander Blomqvist, Filip Helander, Matias Concha, and that old vet Danel Andersson—plus midfielder Ivo Pekalski and striker Dardan Rexhepi are all out too.

As for the visitors, they're missing a key midfielder like Simon Lundevall, plus some other less vital guys—veteran Bernhardsson and the duo Svantesson and W. Lundin are also out.
Historically, Seattle always seems to hit a wall when they play Atlanta at home—only two wins in their last six meetings, and honestly, those last six games were all low-scoring affairs...

04/02/2012 Seattle - Atlanta 0:0
06/23/2011 Seattle - Atlanta 0:0
08/15/2010 Seattle - Atlanta 2:0
04/29/2009 Seattle - Atlanta 0:0
04/16/2008 Seattle - Atlanta 2:0
05/27/2007 Seattle - Atlanta 1:1

Atlanta is going into this match with zero pressure because they already finished their job in the first round of the Europa League—they cruised to a 3-0 win in Estonia, so Thursday's return leg is basically just a formality for them.
Seattle is the one feeling the heat here—they've got issues, their confidence is shot from those bad results, and now they have to face an opponent that's dangerous and historically a nightmare for them.
It is definitely not going to be an easy win for them... if they even manage to pull it off at all. .

The Seattle manager went out and said he expects his squad to put up a solid performance—you know, playing at the level people expect from a club like this.
But then, on the flip side, he throws out this warning:
"We have to realize we can't be too naive, because the visitors will punish us for it."

I'm expecting a gritty fight from the visitors, a tough, physical match, and not many goals... I think fatigue is probably going to kill any "pretty" football these teams try to play. The visitors are coming in just looking for points, while the home side is in a terrible spot—they're sitting at 3-3-1 at home, and even with the handicap, they barely scraped past Portland 2-0... in every other match, it's been nothing but pure struggle...

Windsor Border Stars - York Region 1 1.80 Looking at the visitors, they’ve been struggling to find their footing lately, managing to scrape away just one draw out of six matches against the Shooters. That said, you can't ignore the momentum they're carrying right now; having slapped together four wins in a row really builds up a sense of optimism, especially when they're facing an opponent that looks like they're completely running on fumes.

Chicago Fire - Kansas City 1 2.40 If we dive into the history here, these two have met 44 times, with Chicago walking away with 23 wins and a total of 80 goals scored, while Kansas City has snagged 11 victories and put up 52. They've played to a draw 10 times. When you look specifically at games played in Chicago, the home side has dominated with 15 wins and 43 goals, whereas Kansas City has managed 3 wins and 19 goals, along with 2 draws. It feels like this recent hot streak for Chicago aligns perfectly with the arrival of Mike McGee, who has injected some much-needed life into the offense—even though he's technically a midfielder, the guy has already netted 4 goals in just 5 appearances. If they want to keep this positive energy alive, they really need to capitalize on this run and keep those winning results coming.

Los Angeles FC vs. LA Galaxy Over 2.5 goals @ 2.08

So, LAFC has pulled off two straight home wins, both ending in 2-1 nail-biters...
They took down teams like the Seattle Sounders and Orlando City.
On the flip side, LA Galaxy have been playing five matches lately—going 3-0-2—and honestly? Every single one of those games has been an absolute goal fest.
The Galaxy have some seriously lethal attackers right now, they play a high-octane style, and they’ve got the sheer talent to put up numbers... they should definitely bring that same energy tonight.

Both squads are looking pretty much full strength here. The visitors are loaded with offensive firepower—think guys like Christian Benteke types—and they might actually be the stronger side on paper... but man, you can't sleep on the home team. They're tough as nails at home and playing in front of their own screaming fans... which means they can take down anyone on any given night.
All things considered, I'm expecting plenty of action in the net for this one...

Roger Phillips said:Rio FC vs. Miami FC Over 2.5 @ 2.08

The Rio squad has two home wins under their belt, both 2-1 scores.
They took down teams like the LA Galaxy and St. Louis City.
Miami’s been playing five games lately—3-0-2 record—and every single one went over.
Their offense is lethal, they play efficient ball, and they should deliver another heavy performance tonight.

Both rosters are full strength. The visitors are offensive-minded (think Fred and R Sobis), maybe even the better side, but the home team is a tough out and they're playing in front of their own crowd...honestly, they can beat anyone when they have home-field advantage.
Bottom line: goals are coming in this one.

Game's in a new stadium in a different city, so the stands might be pretty empty. Won't give Rio much of a home edge without the noise.

Miami is missing Welington Nema, who just jumped ship to a club in Europe; he was huge for their attack.
Thiago Neves probably sits out too since he's looking for a new contract overseas.
And they're also without Welington Silva, a defender who's only suited up three times so far.

Knowing the idiot coaching Miami right now, I'm leaning heavily toward the Over.

Knowing the absolute moron coaching the Fluminense squad right now, I'm thinking the best play here is PiK x

And I didn't find anything about W. Silva not playing either—and I'm not even counting those other two guys, since they aren't even on the roster anymore😉

After a brutal weekend, we’re heading back into the fray for some new wins (or more likely, losses) 😍

Starting things off with the "locks":

Flora Tallinn-Paide LM 1 @ 1.30 (f+2 @ 1.70)

The Estonian side, Flora—who aren't exactly playing out of their minds lately given they barely scraped by some mediocre visitors—could settle for a draw against first place. Historically speaking, though, Flora has dominated this matchup; out of 17 meetings, they've won 16 (with one draw). Plus, their goal difference over the last five games is a ridiculous 21:0.

MashalMub-FC Bunyodkor (1:1) 2 @ 1.20

The top dog from Uzbekistan, the most expensive squad in the league, travels for the second leg against a second-division side that somehow pulled off a 1:0 upset in the first leg. Usually, Bunyodkor owns this fixture with a 14:2:2 record, so I'm looking at the visitors here.

1.FC Magdeburg-B.Dortmund 2 @ 1.20

Dortmund starts their new season with a friendly against a local club like Magdeburg. Honestly, anything less than a convincing Dortmund victory would be a massive shocker, even if it is just a preseason exhibition.

Basel- CZ Mexico City 1 @ 1.60

In this Watch Cup matchup, we have two teams that both secured wins in their opening fixtures (Basel beat Fortune from Düsseldorf, while Red Star took down the Grasshoppers). The winner takes home the trophy in a tournament that's been a preseason staple for 50 years—though they skipped it back in 2012. A draw would suffice for Basel to clinch the title, but they seem much more polished than the visitors from Belgrade.

DinMinsk-Shak.Soligorsk 2 @ 2.10

Now, this isn't exactly a "banker." Looking at their head-to-head history, you can never really call these games—Dynamo actually has better stats, which tells you everything. But Shakhtar is banking on this being their year; after three straight seasons as runners-up, they’re eyeing their first title in eight years. A win here puts them 8 points clear of BATE.

Honefoss BK-Brann Bergen 2 @ 3.00 (X2 @ 1.65)
Brann is a total Jekyll and Hyde team when it comes to home vs. away form. It’s wild—they are invincible at home (8 wins in 8 matches) but haven't managed a single point on the road (6 losses in 6 matches). Given that the hosts have been pretty shaky at home themselves (2 wins, a draw, and a loss), this looks like a prime opportunity for the visitors to finally grab some points this season. Not a lock by any means, though.
