Hey everyone! Has anyone here actually managed to clear up a perianal thrombosis without having to go under the knife? If so, how did you handle it?

Hello,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid private proctologist or a clinic in Chicago? Ideally somewhere that can handle any necessary procedures on-site.

It's for my father, 74 years old. He’s dealing with severe hemorrhoids and constipation, and he's become overly reliant on laxatives, which just ends up causing him even more pain...

Thanks.

How fast do these things actually pop up and then vanish? I swear, there wasn't a single trace of anything yesterday, but today I've got swelling about the size of a pinky fingertip, and if I had to go by 😲's description, I'd say that's pretty much it. Just one swollen "flap" of skin around my anus

Has anyone actually had their procedure done at Pike Place Market? I'm starting to get ready for mine.

Any advice on how to handle this? I’m drinking tons of water and tea, eating plenty of fruits and veggies, cutting out caffeine and baked goods...

Stop straining when you go—both small and large movements.
Avoid sitting for long periods. Move around more.
Make sure to clean the area thoroughly after every bathroom trip.
Stay away from alcohol and carbonated drinks.
Skip the spicy or heavily seasoned foods.
Keeping a regular daily schedule for bowel movements is key.
Don't be lifting anything heavy—spare yourself the trouble.

Has anyone actually been there? I've got some external hemorrhoids left over from my last bout, and I really want this sorted out. Someone suggested going to Canada, but I’d much rather just handle it here in the States. I live out in the sticks, but I'm in Chicago three times a month, so a clinic in Chicago or somewhere nearby works fine for me.

We're planning on trying for a baby soon, so I figured it's best to get this taken care of beforehand.🕺

Hi there,

In short: should I get my perianal thrombosis treated at a public hospital, or should I look into private options and laser surgery?

I’ve been told that the laser procedure is painless and requires zero downtime, whereas being cut with a scalpel is incredibly painful and involves a long recovery period.

What’s the reality here? What have your experiences been?

I was wondering, when you're dealing with internal hemorrhoids and you're being careful about what you eat while using an ointment, how long does it usually take for them to actually recede?

Has anyone actually tried this—is it true that hemorrhoid cream can help with under-eye bags? 🙂 It sounds a little ridiculous, I know 😁

I’ve decided to go for the permanent fix for my hemorrhoids using the HAL method. Given that, I'm curious—which clinic in Washington, D.C. actually knows what they're doing?

Here’s a really helpful video covering how to treat hemorrhoids and what symptoms to look out for. Link:

Can ramping up my workouts actually trigger or make hemorrhoids worse? A few days ago, I started noticing those classic symptoms—you know, the kind that pop up a million times and then disappear—but this time things have definitely escalated. I'm specifically thinking about running. I’ve already started using some ointment, but I’m trying to figure out if I should dial back or just cut out whatever activity is causing the aggravation.

Also, question #2: when using the ointment, should it be applied strictly rectally, or does it actually matter if I apply it to the external area too?

It totally can, because cranking up your physical activity gets your heart pumping harder, which basically cranks up the pressure in your blood vessels; honestly, I wouldn't tell you to stop working out, but you should head to a pharmacy and look for Pilex tablets—they have a blue logo, not that green Himalayan stuff—a 28-count pack goes for about $200, and trust me, they aren't breaking the bank, they were the only thing that actually worked for me, though for the first three days of treatment you'll feel like they're doing absolutely nothing before suddenly everything just starts receding... before I started this, I was dealing with issues twice a year, but now it's been three and a half years without a single real problem, and even when I see a few warning signs, I just grab a smaller 14-capsule pack and kill the issue right at the start, so in the last four years I've only bought three packs total, two big ones and one small, totaling maybe $500 over the whole four years.

I’m wondering if it’s actually a good idea to go swimming in the ocean when dealing with external hemorrhoids. I've read somewhere that swimming can be beneficial, but I am concerned about whether the salt water might cause irritation.

Hey,

I'm looking for some advice from anyone who's gone through hemorrhoid surgery.
During those first few days after the procedure, did you find yourselves needing any specific soaps or gels for cleaning up down there?

Hi everyone,

I need some advice or info.

Yesterday, I was in a rush during a bowel movement to get it over with, and after finishing, I sat down to work on my laptop. A few hours later, I started feeling pain, burning, and itching in my anus, so I had to stop sitting.

I didn't pay much attention at first since this has happened before after using the bathroom, and it usually just goes away on its own.

But since it wouldn't stop this time, I checked myself out last night and felt a lump next to my anus, maybe about a third or half the size of a pinky finger.

I'm not really sure what it is—maybe hemorrhoids (it feels like internal ones, though I haven't treated them because I tried adjusting my diet when I noticed issues) or maybe perianal thrombosis?

The lump is skin-colored or slightly bluish, and it hasn't grown; it's stayed the same size. It just itches, burns, and hurts, especially when sitting. Lying on my stomach helps the most, I guess.

I cleaned up with warm water afterward, and the pain, itching, and burning mostly subsided or went away during the night. It really just depends on how I position myself while lying down.

Today, I still have a slight ache. The swelling/lump is still there, but I feel a lot better than yesterday.

I already reached out to some proctologists for a private consultation, but I haven't heard back from everyone yet, or they say I need a specialist exam first because they aren't sure what it is.

I'm not in Washington, D.C. right now; I'm planning to be back around September 7th or maybe a little earlier. I'm a bit panicked about what to expect until I can actually see a doctor.

Will the swelling go down in a few days, or will the pain and discomfort stick around?
Could it burst?
Is it okay to have a bowel movement, or will that make things worse?
Should I sit or walk (like going to a mall)? For now, I'm just lying in bed and resting.

Also, I looked up hemorrhoid removal surgeries at some clinics. I saw mentions of the HAL method and the Milligan-Morgan method—does anyone here have experience with those?

Thanks for any help.

These Pilex capsules are basically worth their weight in gold; they aren't cheap, but I’d much rather pay for peace of mind for the next few months than deal with surgery. Honestly, just grab the larger 28-count bottle—it's better to stick to the full two-week course:

In the meantime, I'd suggest cutting out red wine entirely and keeping any other alcohol to an absolute minimum.

I first noticed an external hemorrhoid about two weeks ago. I'm honestly not sure what triggered it. Since then, I've been using Preparation H, taking chamomile baths, and adjusting my diet. Things have improved significantly, and I’m mostly symptom-free now, though I still deal with occasional itching. Do you think it's worth adding those BlackRock tablets to my routine, or is it unnecessary at this stage?

There’s no need to panic.
What you're dealing with sounds like an internal hemorrhoid—essentially an inflamed vein—that typically requires a topical cream to manage. While Faktu is a decent option, you might find more relief with something containing a mild anesthetic to dull the pain and itching. I'd suggest soaking in a warm chamomile bath, making sure to dry the area thoroughly afterward, and then asking the pharmacist for a solid recommendation.

There are also Nexium tablets specifically for hemorrhoids, which were a lifesaver for me.

If you aren't dealing with any bleeding, it probably isn't necessary for you. Personally, Nexium has been a lifesaver for me on several occasions—though you really need to get the larger bottle, as the small one doesn't seem to cut it for the heavy-duty stuff—especially since I used to deal with bleeding that was way worse than a woman's period 😁 along with enough pain to keep me from sleeping. Once I started Nexium, I was fine for months. That said, if you want to actually feel better, you should probably cut back on the bad stuff, like red wine, or at least keep it to an absolute minimum.
