So, I just got back from my gastroenterologist—they basically said everything looks fine on the surface, but since I mentioned the bloody spotting, they think it might be hemorrhoids... Still, they suggested a colonoscopy just to be safe. Honestly, I'm feeling a bit lost on what to do next!
I really hope there’s someone on this forum who can help, because I’m feeling pretty desperate...
My issues started about ten days ago. I was traveling for a couple of weeks and spent most of my time sitting around—not very active at all. Then came the big celebration, and I overdid it on the sauerkraut. That usually messes with my digestion, but this time it feels much worse. That day, I had to run to the bathroom five or six times. The next day, the frequency continued, but then I noticed some blood dripping. It’s itchy and painful; every single time I go, it hurts. It feels like an open wound, almost like something is scraping against it. And after every trip to the restroom, a few drops end up in the toilet bowl. I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist this Tuesday, but please, if you have any advice, let me know. I'm totally unprepared for this. Does this sound like hemorrhoids to you?[/QUOTE
That sounds like hemorrhoids to me.
Does anyone know a good proctologist in Cleveland? Help a girl out..
Like I mentioned before—I went to see a gastroenterologist, but he wasn't super helpful... He suggested I go get a colonoscopy because he thinks it might just be hemorrhoids..but honestly, I’d really love to get a second opinion from someone else before jumping into that

Hello, everyone.

My wife has been struggling with hemorrhoids for quite some time now—it’s been a long, ongoing battle. Her last surgery was back in 2012.

Things have taken a turn for the worse lately, so she really needs to get an evaluation to figure out our next steps.

She actually reached out to Dr. Phil just now—he was her surgeon back then—only to find out he’s been retired for a year and a half and his clinic isn't even operating anymore.

Does anyone happen to have a recommendation for another specialist who deals with this? If possible, I’d love to hear from people who have had actual, firsthand experience with them.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone here has had laser hemorrhoidoplasty or laser fissure repair done at St. Catherine’s? If so, how happy were you with the results? How long did it take, and what was the recovery like? They promote their laser procedures as being minimally invasive.

I've been searching for the best way to handle a fissure, and my consultation at St. Catherine’s actually turned out to be my third meeting with an abdominal surgeon.

After reading about the procedure on their website and chatting with the staff, I was pretty set on going through with it. However, I had second thoughts after a rather unusual exam.
They actually suggested surgery for hemorrhoids too—something I wasn't even aware I had, and something previous doctors told me wasn't a significant issue.
Regarding the surgery, they warned me the first two weeks would be quite painful (though supposedly less so than lateral sphincterometry), requiring heavy use of painkillers and laxatives. They also recommended getting a goat because you have to clean up thoroughly after every bathroom trip, and honestly, they wouldn't even guarantee the success of the procedure.

For context, I was diagnosed with the fissure back in August. It cleared up once and then came back; it hurts much less now, with the pain mostly fading away by the morning, but it’s still a huge physical and mental drain. The hemorrhoids were only brought up during this recent exam.

Also, if anyone knows of other specialists in the US who perform laser or non-cutting fissure repairs, please let me know. I’ve reached out to several clinics already, but they all seem to rely on traditional cutting methods. Since I have a little one at home and am breastfeeding, I’m really trying to find the quickest, easiest recovery possible.

Sorry for jumping into the forum specifically to talk about fissures, but I saw others discussing them here. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I’m spiraling a bit. Found a tiny lump, about the size of a small pea, right at the anal opening a few days ago. I eat clean, don't smoke, don't drink, and my digestion is perfectly regular. I'm 37, but the mental anxiety is killing me... Is it actually possible to develop a hemorrhoid just from extreme stress? There's no pain and no bleeding. Can a hemorrhoid just go away on its own? Or does every single one require surgery...

I first dealt with hemorrhoids way back around 2006 or 2007, and let me tell you, it was an absolute nightmare. I’m talking frequent, excruciatingly painful bowel movements, constant stinging, and being completely unable to sit down without agony. I suspect they were external—not that I'm exactly a medical expert—but since I could clearly feel them, that’s my best guess. While things haven't reached those catastrophic levels again, I haven't actually "recovered" either. I still have this nagging sensation that something is perpetually there, right where that massive hemorrhoid used to be, and I’m constantly seeing blood on the toilet paper or even little red traces on my underwear. Honestly, I'm at a bit of a loss here... should I be doing something about this?

Hi everyone. I’m currently dealing with stage 4 external hemorrhoids. I’ve been lurking on this forum for quite a while now, and I have to admit, the more I read, the more indecisive I feel. That said, based on everything I've gathered so far, I’m weighing my options between DG Hal Rar and two specific clinics, Arithera and Butterfly. If anyone could offer some advice, share their own experiences, or weigh in on the choice of clinic and surgical method—I would truly appreciate it. Thanks for all the help!

Hey everyone—so, I’ve mentioned my situation before, but man, this last couple of months have been a total rollercoaster. It started with all this pain when I go to the bathroom, plus some bleeding... and honestly, I just haven't had any peace since. One week things feel fine, then the next is just pure misery. When the pain isn't there, the bleeding stops too, but once the cramps start, it's blood everywhere every single time. Since I'm such a huge hypochondriac, my brain immediately went straight to "is this cancer?" Usually, things settle down after a few days, but this past week has been relentless. Up until now, nothing was visible on the outside, but today was a total nightmare. Everything is swollen and hurting—I've seriously never dealt with anything like this before. I was just sitting at home crying because the pain was so intense that I actually ended up going to the ER. The doctor checked me out, gave me some painkillers and some Pfizer, and said if things don't improve, I need to head straight to the Mayo Clinic
In my 30 years, I've never had anything happen like this. If anyone has any advice, please let me know... Like, what should I absolutely stay away from eating? And how long does this usually take to calm down? Please tell me it gets better! 🙂

Hi there,

Can a lump actually disappear just by using cream, or am I going to need something more serious like an injection or some kind of procedure?
I've been applying Prokten and some Acute cream for a few weeks now, but this thing isn't budging one bit.

Thanks in advance,

Maybe try incorporating anal sex into your routine; it might just clear up those hemorrhoids.

Alright, look—if I were you, I’d just book a private consultation right now to figure out if surgery is actually on the table or what... It isn't bleeding and there's no pain, but since they've been hanging around for a while now, you really shouldn't just sit on it...

Can anyone give me a specific recommendation? I've been digging through Google for a bit, but honestly, I haven't found much in the way of actual info or solid reviews... Maybe St. Catherine? Butterfly? Mercury? Or is there somewhere else I should be looking?

That’s a shame, because I was actually hoping to find some ladies on here who could use this kind of therapy. 😁

The real culprits here are garbage diet and wearing synthetic fabrics.
You have to learn your own body. Everyone—even doctors—can only tell you what's bad for *other* people; nobody is going to hand you the magic answer for yourself.
Keep track of what you eat, what you drink, and even what you wear. If you can't remember, write it down.
Personally, I've officially banned pepper, brewed coffee, soda, and leather motorcycle gear from my life forever.

So, I finally saw the surgeon, and turns out it really is a fissure... apparently my hemorrhoids aren't the issue, just the fissure.
Lucky me—I'm one of those folks dealing with both at once! 😵😵

Well, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who gets to deal with both hemorrhoids and a fissure at the same time.😵😵

So, I suppose anal sex is the new therapy; you really don't know what you're missing.

Hey everyone, I was wondering if there are any other pregnant women out there dealing with issues with thrombosed veins—specifically external hemorrhoids? They’re this weird blue color and kind of bulging out, not really like the typical ones you hear about... I’m halfway through my pregnancy now and they just popped up, probably because of all the pressure from the uterus. So, I guess I'm curious how you guys handled them? Is there actually a solution, or am I just stuck suffering through this until I give birth?
I've got some vein issues going on in my legs too...
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread, I wasn't quite sure where this would fit best
Thanks in advance for any help

Is it actually possible to develop hemorrhoids just from being incredibly stressed out? There’s no pain and no bleeding, which is a relief, but still... Can a hemorrhoid just go away on its own? Or is surgery basically the only way to deal with every single one?

From my own personal experience, once those external hemorrhoids pop out and decide to stay, you can maybe find some relief or even shrink them down by tweaking your diet and using certain medications. But—and this is a big but—they’re basically just waiting for one wrong move 🙂. For me personally, alcohol is the absolute worst; I mean, it's scary how much a single night of heavy drinking can make everything flare up in just one day. It's truly awful.
