Dear Administration,

Don't you think it’s a bit extreme to wipe out half a subforum in just a few days?

And for what reason?

Because suddenly, out of nowhere, and without any provocation, things that were perfectly acceptable yesterday have become forbidden... the exact same things you allowed until now, the very same things your hand-picked moderators tolerated, and the very same topics we attempted to discuss calmly, logically, and politely in a thread you prematurely shut down by labeling those rare instances of nonsense as mere "idiocy." And let's be clear—writing nonsense isn't the same thing as being an idiot, so I'll take the liberty of calling your recent decisions pure idiocy. Tyndall, surely that shouldn't be an issue, right?

What's most pathetic, though, is that what you're trying to implement isn't even particularly controversial in itself; you simply lack style, guys. No sense of rhythm, no ear for it... nothing, really.

What happened to us was a total disaster 😢

But let’s be real—we’ve been doing this stuff regularly for ages. It’s just that before, nobody bothered to call us out on it because it was all just casual chatting 🙂

That said, if you're asking whether they were being persistent and stirring the pot? Yeah, they definitely were 😢

I actually know a good chunk of those women personally, and honestly, they aren't troublemakers or anything. It’s just... I don't know, man, I guess they just lost their way a bit 😢

Well... whether it's worth mentioning in passing or not, the fact remains that there was once a level of tolerance that simply doesn't exist anymore.

No, the real poison didn't come from the changes themselves, but rather the execution—it was blunt, arrogant, and completely tone-deaf. And honestly, it didn't have to be that way. It’s only natural that the echoes of a discussion cut off so abruptly will continue to resurface... eventually, things will have to settle, one way or another, perhaps even hitting rock bottom at Kokošinjac...

Just as a new administration in D.C. typically gets a hundred-day grace period to prove they actually know what they're doing, users sometimes need a moment to adjust to new rules and find a place to voice their thoughts. Unfortunately, none of that was actually provided here.

hollowmason64 closed off that thread where we were supposed to be discussing things, even though there's a specific subforum meant for exactly that kind of talk.
They made it clear that anyone bringing this up again is going to face consequences, whether it’s over on the USA board or any other corner of the site.
The whole point of the USA section is to give people a space to voice grievances or hash things out with the mods and admins.

It wasn't really about the USA moderators; honestly, I have to hand it to Herp. 🙏

It's more about certain problematic individuals. 🤣
I'm honestly not sure why you're struggling to grasp what these girls are actually saying.
Look, I mentioned bans in the chat and ended up getting a warning. I'm not complaining—I broke the rules, plain and simple.
But the issue lies with that comment you made about how you'll be able to do whatever you want once you become an admin.

The people tasked with enforcing the rules should probably be the first ones to follow them.

What on earth happened here?😕🍿
Someone please fill me in, and maybe I'll contribute a few actual insights to the conversation...😁

P.S. Where did the asshole emoji go?😕
:asshole:

P.S. 2.
Herp is female, so you shouldn't be saying I tip my hat to Herp but rather I tip my hat to Herp's style (there goes my first bit of wisdom) 😬

Seriously, ladies, where does this end? Wasn't one thread from the admins enough? 😬
I mean, we all know we don't have much say on this forum anyway. Unless you actually have some damn solid counterarguments, you're just asking for another ban. 😳

I’ll use this thread to respond to Melody, since she decided to call me out.

MelodyNine said:Forum user Kate Foster12 has, predictably, decided to gloat about the fate of this very thread—which she participated in—remarking how she "finally understands why it's Kokošinjac." A profound insight, I'm sure. And incredibly petty, considering the girls she used to chat with so intensely—the ones she constantly cited when launching her own campaign for Trash moderator, claiming she had "all of Kokošinjac on her side." There's a thread about it if you care to look.

That was pure sarcasm. Honestly, feathers are flying everywhere here. If you took that as a provocation or gloating, maybe you should take a beat—take a deep breath, count to ten, or however long it takes to settle down...

Also, having served as a moderator myself, I know exactly how new moderators are selected—and it isn't through revolts on USA. My goal was simply to breathe life back into Trash, which you repeatedly described as dead in your own thread over at Kokošinjac. Sad.

Me, having all of Kokošinjac on my side? I talk to maybe three or four people there, none of whom belong to that "inner circle"...

MelodyNine said:In that lovely essay presented as the top topic on USA, it claims "malice" won't be tolerated on the forum. Really? You're at war with malice? How thrilling. Several users complained to me that Kate Foster12's comment—along with others who joined that chat to lecture people they were just talking to yesterday about their kids, problems, migraines, depression, or small joys—was perceived as deeply malicious. But lo and behold, that post wasn't flagged as a provocation or malice. It wasn't even carded. Meanwhile, mine was reported to admin with lightning speed for "provocation" and "persistent commenting on moderation," even though I only commented on that chat topic twice in two posts—since I wasn't even on the forum. I did the rest on USA. Commenting twice is hardly "persistent."

Furthermore, those who find my comment offensive but haven't been banned are more than welcome to comment—either in the thread or via PM. That's what threads are for: discussion, not for people to mark their territory...

Now we’ve reached the stage where people are calling out the mods and bringing old friendships into this. I mean, is it even fair to go after a moderator just for doing their job?
Look, ladies, you really don't need this. If there's one thing I can't stand in life, it's people being contrarian just for the sake of being contrarian.
For crying out loud, get it together.
Melody, what was that post even about? Is everyone who disagrees with you suddenly a villain?
And yeah, we were all just talking, joking around, sharing our wins and our struggles. What does that mean? That we all share one giant brain and aren't allowed to have different opinions from one another?
If I know anything at all, it's that I'm not always right, and other people have every right to see things differently, even if I happen to be right.
If there's an actual issue, bring it up where it belongs and fight for your stance.
With actual arguments.
What happened today wasn't argumentative, mature, or even coherent. It was just denial, forcing an agenda, and playing the part of some edgy dissident hero.
Oh, and isn't saying "half the PDF" a bit much? Are all the other users posting on the USA considered unimportant or invisible?

Is it Herp? Or is it Africa?
Did anyone else here take note of how she was actually feeling today when she had to go ahead and ban those girls?
Do you really think Herp wouldn't pull something like that off?
I honestly feel like this whole thread should have been locked down ages ago...

Call me stupid if you want, but I’m still sitting here scratching my head. I honestly don't get what the goal was with that whole thing. What were you all actually trying to achieve there?

So, what, you guys aren't a fan of some of the rules around here?
It feels like nobody around here actually closes a thread when someone lays out a smart argument or offers something genuinely constructive. Everyone just lets them sit there. And honestly, whether there’s any actual benefit to posting this stuff or not... well, I don't think you're going to change anyone's mind by continuing down this same path you started on. 🤷

So, what did you guys end up getting this time?
Man, they really just shut us down. The thread is locked, and honestly, we all look like a bunch of old hens who got all worked up over nothing—especially since, let’s be real, we’re all just acting a bit high-strung here. In the end, none of us actually walked away with anything. 😢

Look, I’ve moderated a few different forums before, and let me tell you, I hate the job. But if it’s offered to me, I’ll take it—and if I do, I’m going to do my absolute best to stay as objective as possible.

That doesn’t mean I won’t have favorites. I’m a human being, not some programmed bot. Sure, if someone I actually care about messes up, I might look the other way once in a while. But just *once in a while*. Not every single time. Let's say they deserve five strikes; maybe I'll give them four. But they're still getting hit. It has nothing to do with friendship—none at all. That’s just nonsense. Anyone who expects special treatment while knowingly acting like an idiot is just a coward. That’s on them, not the moderator.

I would never, ever put a friend in a position where they had to choose between pleasing me and doing what they need to do in life—their job, their family, their responsibilities.

I'll try to stay on topic as much as possible in my response.

As for the comments regarding friendships and the moderation team, I have nothing to say. And your take on MelodyNine's post doesn't belong here either.
We don't share a collective intellect, and thank goodness we don't all think the same way. That exchange of ideas is exactly what the Gutanje discussions were about, though it seems you're missing that point.
This isn't about taking sides; it's simply that a certain group of users has reached their limit. Some of them hang out outside of this space too, so what?

There was a thread right here on the USA with a specific problem. It was presented appropriately and backed by arguments. And the result? "Idiocy."
That was the response.
So, the fact that the core issue was raised in the proper venue has been proven once again.

I'm not advocating for insults. Calling the moderator Peter stupid or incompetent just because he deleted three posts regarding Tonson isn't something I'm pushing. I don't see why I shouldn't be able to mention that Peter was banned for trolling, but that's a separate matter entirely. If the rule is that we can't discuss moderation decisions in passing, fine. I'll accept that.
But only on one condition: that there actually exists a place where I can express my opinion and comment on how the moderators operate. These "idiocies" are showing me once again that such a space doesn't truly exist.
Another thing mentioned during this so-called "defiance," as you call it, was the equal application of rules to everyone. Whether you're a regular user or someone tasked with keeping order, the rules should apply to everyone regardless of their username—even if those names are patterned in purple elephants.
If you think otherwise, I'm sorry, but I can't help you. No one has the right to call you stupid, even if you were insisting the sky was brown.

And there's no need for insults just because you don't understand something—or rather, because you don't want to. I know you could make the effort, but if you choose not to, that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Way to go, Africa, following the rules to a T.
Is that better now?
Frankly, I don't care how she feels when she has to issue a penalty to Melody. She’s a moderator, isn't she? It’s her job to flag posts that warrant it, period. It makes absolutely no difference to me whether the post subject to discipline was written by Person A, Person B, or Person C. If we can't handle that level of objectivity, then we have a real problem on our hands.
A problem that is clearly present, even if you are stubbornly choosing to ignore it.

So, what did you all actually gain from this?
Herp just made you all turn red, the thread is locked, and now you all look like a bunch of hysterical women who just got worked up over nothing—honestly, none of us gained a single thing.😢

Nothing, it's not like we didn't already know that. We said what we had to say, and that's that.
I am sorry if all you see is a group of women making a scene, but fine. As I told Karen Rodriguez3, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Was that okay to say to her? The woman was just doing the job she was hired to do here 👎

I think I know what you're getting at—you wish she could hand out cards to the mods or the admins too, but she just doesn't have that authority. That's just how the system works, and you've known that since your very first day here.

Is it normal to me that they get a pass on more things than we do?
Yep.
And that's the part you're ignoring.
You can think whatever you want about me because of that, but like you said, the beauty of our thread was that we were tol'ko different. And I honestly think that's more than a positive thing.

If you're going to claim that everyone has a right to their opinion, then respect ours too—the opinion that this should have been handled differently and in a different space.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, and honestly, I don't think I even did. Maybe I just phrased things weirdly, I guess.😕
If I said all this stuff today feels like being back in grade school or dealing with some playground drama, well, maybe it does. At least that's how it looks to me.
But why, though?
Look, I agree with a whole bunch of what you guys said, but I also don't think any of it is actually right. There's definitely stuff I'm not on board with. If I actually felt like getting into a whole debate about it, I probably would. Maybe.
I haven't been around since yesterday, so I've got no clue what went down. I guess I missed the whole thing.
So, Klonka is finally out of the picture. Most people seemed to be on the same page regarding Lastan, too. But honestly? It’s just one thing after another. People are still constantly opening threads, whining, and just waiting around. There are endless announcements about things turning gray, and it feels like people are straight-up ignoring the rules on purpose—even after that Smartin post and those pleas from Africa. It just keeps happening.
So, what was actually gained from that? I mean, seriously.
I mean, couldn't someone have just come over here and started a bunch of different threads with all those questions right from the jump? Just a thought, I guess.
I mean, I think you get what I'm saying—it wasn't really about people bringing up banned users during the Gutanje sessions. It was more about the vibe of the comments themselves, I guess. Just how people were talking, you know?

Just to be clear, my take on this has absolutely nothing to do with any specific woman on this forum. I mean, sure, I might have brought up some older posts in previous threads, but that’s it. No one here has actually rubbed me the wrong way or anything.
Look, I honestly think debates and having different opinions is a good thing. I've never really made an issue out of it, and I definitely don't go around ignoring people on other threads just because we didn't see eye-to-eye on one topic—especially when I actually agree with them most of the time anyway. It's not that deep, I guess.
Look, just because I’ve got a different take on things or I'm pushing back on an idea I don't really vibe with, it doesn't mean I'm taking anything personally. It's not like I'm getting defensive or feeling attacked. I guess it's just how I see it.
It just means I’m not on board with the current arguments or how things are being handled right now.
Simple as that.

But you guys said it in the wrong place!
And that's why nothing was actually achieved besides making everyone turn gray... damn it.🙂

If you're going to claim that everyone has a right to their opinion, then respect ours too—the opinion that this should have been handled differently and in a different space.

That just doesn't fly here. Tyndall already closed the thread and made it crystal clear: anyone who keeps pushing this is getting banned. 😉

Forgive me, but Tyndall closed that thread in such a... one... one... truly appalling and shameful manner, which only served to fan the flames even further...

I said I didn't have much to say regarding an appeal to one's sense of humanity. It felt wrong to me, and if you look at the quote, it seems pretty obvious. I have no idea why Voden would drag things like that into it.

I know exactly where you're coming from—you wish she could go after the mods or the admins too, but she simply doesn't have the authority. That's just how the system works, and you've known that since your very first day here.

Is it normal to me that they get away with so much more than we do?
It is.
And you're ignoring that part.
You can think whatever you want about me because of it, but as you said, the beauty of our thread was that we were all so different. And personally, I think that's a huge plus.

Africa shouldn't punish someone they technically don't have the power to penalize, but there are people who absolutely have the technical means to do so. Similarly, those at the "top" shouldn't give themselves a pass just because they can. It isn't right.
And I truly don't understand how you can justify them being forgiven more often than us. Why? Are they somehow better than a regular person like me or you, so they get extra leeway? Did they get some superpowers from a new color in the rainbow? Is that it?
Look, it's impossible to control every single little thing, and obviously, moderators aren't omnipotent or infallible, but when someone repeatedly makes the same mistakes, you can't just claim they woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Just because someone isn't performing their job well doesn't mean we should indefinitely tolerate their constant errors.

But you guys said that in the wrong place!
And that's why nothing was achieved except for everyone turning gray... damn it. 🙂

If you're going to argue that everyone is entitled to their opinion, then respect ours—we believe this should have been handled differently and in a different venue.

The grays and the remaining blues all agree that the venue for expressing this opinion wasn't appropriate. That's just the rules.
But again, I'm asking you: where else should it have been said?
Right here, where everything had already been posted and subsequently closed?

We tried, Kiss, we tried doing it differently and in a different place. And yet, nothing. We gave it a shot. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. We wrote what we wanted to write in a thread that meant something to us, and that's that. They'll unlock it, and whoever wants to post there will post; there's no need for a scene.

I don't want this to turn into a debate about Gutanje or arguing over which three women are more in the right. That's completely irrelevant.
What matters is what was written in the introduction and what sparked this whole thing in the first place.

So, has anyone else noticed what’s been happening with the last few posts around here? Seriously, what did this place even turn into?
It’s pretty obvious that a certain group of people—the ones who clearly make talking nonsense their main hobby—just clocked out of work, hopped online, and started dropping those gems of theirs. And, well, we all know how that ended. 🙄

It feels like it was only for a little while that we could actually have a normal conversation here without someone jumping in to shut everything down...

I’ve actually started this exact same thread about LJES and his moderation style twice before, and honestly, nobody jumped down my throat. I didn't get called names, nobody told me I was being an idiot, and nobody just shut the whole discussion down without warning. You’re more than welcome to go check my profile history if you don't believe me. 😉

vividtiger922 said:Dear Administration,

That’s how they handled things a few weeks—maybe even months—ago when they were redesigning everything and trying to enforce order over at RID.
Over at ZK, they did it slightly more gracefully because the supermod pinned a warning thread right at the top. I think some user from RID actually suggested doing it that way, mostly because a huge crowd of users went ballistic just because she asked why someone got banned.
The mods decided those kinds of questions counted as "questioning moderator decisions," so the whole group of expectant moms and new parents ended up getting banned.
The threads over at KZB were a total mess back then, just like they are now.

But why?

Well, that's a philosophical question, but maybe the forum is just terrified.

It seems you aren't quite grasping that moderation is an actual option here. If someone hijacks a meaningful discussion just to push their own agenda, or because they're having a bad day and want to troll, provoke, or mock others, there should be a way to handle that appropriately while leaving the thread open for those who actually want a quality conversation. Unfortunately, that isn't really happening here.
