Morgan Taylor592 said:Based on what they're announcing, it looks like the Italians are probably switching back to a back four, which means de Rossi will likely slide back into that holding mid role. They actually tried out that three-man defense for the first time during the match against Spain.

Yeah, I mean, it was pretty obvious during the friendlies that the back four just wasn't working—if my research is right, they lost 3-0 to Russia and 1-0 to the US—so I'm guessing they'll be running a back three today.🤷

USA - Italy (draw) 1 @1.60
Spain - Ireland (h0:1) 1 @1.72
@2.75

USA - Italy
I honestly think we have a shot against the Italians, despite the constant wave of pessimism washing over this place—it’s actually getting a bit nauseating at this point. It’s always the same old story: "Everyone is better than us," "We're so mediocre," blah, blah, blah. Look, if we're being real, we’re arguably the stronger side right now; we’ve got superior talent on the pitch, even if some people here refuse to admit it. Is it going to be an easy ride? Of course not. Italy isn't Ireland, but then again, they aren't exactly the pinnacle of global football either. It’s frankly ridiculous to label us as massive underdogs here... Obviously, everyone has their own take, but I haven't read anyone talking this much trash about their own national team before... We have midfielders who can absolutely tear up the center of the park, and our attackers have enough potential to score against anyone. Where we struggle is definitely the goalkeeping and the backline... So, betting that we won't score feels like a bit of a reach, because if there is one thing we excel at, it's playing aggressively forward. As for Mario Balotelli? Overrated. He doesn't carry half the weight people claim he does. He reminds me of Arjen Robben—a total ball hog who lives for the spotlight and individual glory. That kind of ego is poison for a team dynamic. Regardless, my gut says USA today, but my actual money is going on Italy... Here's why: I won't regret it if our boys walk away with three points, but if they don't, I'll settle for a push on a draw or at least the 1.60 return if Italy pulls it off... It’s a small consolation if our squad fails to deliver...

Spain - Ireland
What else is there to say about this matchup? Ireland just hasn't been on the same level as Spain, and after only picking up one point in their first game, the Spanish need to secure all three today. Why? Because I highly doubt they want to be left scrambling in the final match against us. They know as well as anyone that the Irish squad is weaker than ours, and they won't want it to be as difficult against Ireland as it would be against us later on. If Spain finds the back of the net once, they’ll find it twice, and I really don't see them walking away without conceding. I'm expecting a win with the handicap; if Ireland looked that lost against us, I don't see them having the stamina to withstand a Spanish attack that will likely come out swinging from the opening whistle to avoid any unnecessary nerves or a potential upset that would be disastrous for the defending champs. The odds on the handicap are 1.72, so that's my play...

USA vs. Ireland

Option one - backing the USA (@1.30 at DraftKings), maybe even taking the handicap (@1.80 at DraftKings). It’s pretty obvious here—the Americans are lightyears ahead; on paper, they're probably the heaviest hitters in this whole tournament. Meanwhile, Ireland feels like maybe the weakest squad in the mix... and honestly, the US desperately needs this win (since in the first round, they've "only" got that draw against Italy coming up)
.
Option two - Ireland fails to score (@1.65 at DraftKings). This feels pretty likely to me... the US is highly motivated, they can't afford to wait around, they need points. Ireland will probably just sit back and defend, mostly because they don't really have the talent to do much else. Even when they actually manage to get the ball, their transition is painfully slow getting it from the defense to the midfielders, let alone the strikers—they just lack the creativity and pace to push back against a powerhouse like the US. I'm expecting the Americans to hold about 60+% possession; they'll attack, and if they don't have the ball, they'll press hard to win it back immediately, since we all know that's how they play best... Ireland's only real shot might be set pieces, you know, some scrappy rebound or something, similar to what we saw against Team USA (🤦), but we all know how bad we can be at defending dead balls. Still, the US is in a different league entirely—you've got a duo like Ramos and Pique anchoring the defense, plus Casillas in the net... word is Torres is starting, and you could see against Italy how much more dangerous the US becomes once he gets on the pitch (basically, they just function better with a classic striker)
.
I'm leaning more toward option two ☕
.

just a quick heads-up , if you can, maybe hold off on placing bets until the official lineups drop on the official tournament site (http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/index.html). They usually post the rosters about an hour or two before kickoff...

USA vs France 2 @2.15 Hattrick

Honestly, the French are just a class above here and we need a win. Instead of playing a solid lineup, Blanc swapped out the right guys—bringing in Chlich instead of the better options like Malouda or Menenez. It looks like the Americans are sticking to the same starting XI, but honestly, I don't care. If the French play even 70% of what they're capable of, they should take this, and the odds are too good to pass up. I’m going in with a heavy stake—or as the forum addicts would call it, a "half all-in."😁

LA Galaxy vs. LAFC

pick : (2,5) over 1.60 US

First leg of the playoffs here in the States. The home side finished the regular season in 5th, while the visitors took 2nd place.....
The LA Galaxy are an incredibly aggressive squad. When they step on the field, you basically just expect goals because their defense is about as reliable as a screen door on a submarine—they give up chances constantly. They’ve actually been leading the league in goal averages this season. On average, people watching their games have seen 3.88 goals per match, and when they're playing at home, that number jumps to a ridiculous 4.56.....They're solid at home, sitting at 9 5 1 3 with a 25:16 goal difference. Even though they're high up there, they're actually second in scoring at home, trailing only behind a powerhouse like the LAFC (who put up 29). They just concede way too much. They ended the first half of the season in 5th; honestly, I think they could've climbed higher if they hadn't been distracted by their deep run in the continental tournament before getting knocked out by some underdog in early May. That probably cost them their focus on the domestic league. But after knocking out a top-tier team to reach the semifinals, they're riding high on confidence and fully believe they can make it all the way to the trophy.
Now, LAFC is a very tough crew, and the standings back that up. They didn't just improve from last season; they practically reinvented themselves, taking ten steps forward instead of one. 😁 They look great right now. They play an attacking style too, with an average of 2.71 goals per game, though that stat gets a bit skewed since their away average is "only" 2.22. That’s one of those rare 🤣 stats that actually works against my initial hunch. On the road, they’ve been solid with a 9 5 1 3 record and a 12:8 goal count, but man, look at their home form: 8 6 1 1 and a 19:7 differential 🤣. It's pretty obvious they don't give opponents much breathing room at home. The Galaxy are going to have to scramble to build a decent lead before that brutal away leg in the second half. They'll have to push.
The Galaxy should lean into what they do best—scoring goals—especially since their defense is almost guaranteed to leak something. The visitors have enough firepower to score more than just one, and even though they're focused on tightening things up, this is a playoff knockout game where everything changes. One goal can flip the whole script in a heartbeat. I'm expecting a downpour of goals from these clouds, as long as it isn't actual rain making me miserable. Hopefully, it's just a deluge of scoring rather than tears from my own eyes ☕ around midnight or whenever this finishes.

Heading into the third and final matchday of Group A, all four teams still mathematically have a shot at advancing. The Russians are currently sitting in the driver's seat—a draw tonight gets them through—whereas the Greeks have no choice but to win if they want to reach the quarterfinals.
The Russians looked dominant in their opener against the Czechs, cruising to a 4-1 victory. They followed that up with a 1-1 draw against the hosts, the Americans, though they arguably got lucky there—the US side played much better but failed to convert several clear opportunities.
Then there are the Greeks, a squad that—alongside the Irish—has been among the least impressive sides in this tournament so far. Their defense, which really ought to be their backbone, has been shambolic. Given how lackluster their attack has been anyway, two goals scored isn't actually a bad showing.
To make matters worse, they're missing key personnel today. Both their starting keeper, Chalkias, and starting defender, Papadopulous, are sidelined with injuries.

Russia is simply the more talented side. With Arshavin and Dzagoev operating brilliantly on the wings and creating constant chances, I don't see the shaky Greek defense holding up.
If Greece concedes early, things could fall apart quickly. If they start chasing the game and open up, the Russians will punish them—I'm certain of it.
On the flip side, the Russian defense is solid enough, and with a keeper like Malafeev in net, the Greeks won't find it easy to dictate play.

Furthermore, Russia has a massive traveling fan base following them through this tournament; they'll have far more vocal support than the Greeks. I also doubt Russia will settle for a draw. They can't afford to concede a fluke goal and complicate their math, and while a draw keeps them in second place, I highly doubt they want to face Germany in the quarterfinals. They'd much rather run into someone like Portugal, Denmark, or the Netherlands.

Russia @ 1.80 Pinnacle 6/10

USA vs. Czech Republic 1 @2.40 SS

The USA needs a win here to move forward, so I’m expecting an aggressive tactical approach. Honestly, the Czechs haven't impressed me one bit so far... they got absolutely crushed by Russia and then barely showed any life for six minutes against Greece. Regardless, the Americans have looked much sharper, and now they’ll probably regret that sloppy game against Greece where they basically handed everything over on a silver platter. Also, it's worth noting that Rosicky is a huge question mark for today's lineup, as is another Czech player who really ought to be on the pitch, but that doesn't change much about the strategy. I think the Czechs will try to play for a draw, but it's going to come back to haunt them.

The Americans really need this win just to stay in the running, so I’m expecting them to come out swinging—super aggressive tactics, most likely. Honestly, the Czechs haven't exactly blown me away so far... I mean, they got absolutely crushed by the Russians and then barely showed any life for about six minutes against Greece. Either way, the Americans looked way more prepared, and now they might actually regret that sloppy game against Greece where they basically handed everything over on a silver platter. Anyway, I should probably mention that Rosicky is a huge question mark for today's lineup, and even though the Czechs have some key players who really ought to be out there, it doesn't change much for me. I think the Czechs will try to play for a draw, but if they do, it might just bite them in the end.

+1

The Americans are actually looking better than I gave them credit for... man, that right side with Piszczek and Kuba is just pure fire. Lewandowski might even sneak a couple in there, though Obraniak is just okay... the rest of the guys seem like solid enough workhorses.

A bunch of American sports sites are saying this is the starting lineup

Przemyslaw Tyton - Lukasz Piszczek, Marcin Wasilewski, Damien Perquis, Sebastian Boenisch - Eugen Polanski, Dariusz Dudka, Rafal Murawski, Jakub Blaszczykowski - Ludovic Obraniak - Robert Lewandowski

Today we’ve got the final Group B match, where Germany looks like the clear favorites to move on while the Netherlands is basically staring at an early exit

Portugal vs. Netherlands: I'm calling both teams to score and over 2.5 goals total
After losing 2-1 to Germany in the second round, the Dutch are expected to shake up their lineup today, though they could still get knocked out even if they pull off a win. Portugal just barely edged out Denmark 3-2, so a draw would be enough to keep them moving forward... I think they'll try to play it smart and patient to grab the win, but if the Netherlands scores first, things are gonna have to open up pretty quickly
Both sides have killer offenses but their defenses are kind of a mess, so this pick at 2.05 odds feels like a solid play to me
good luck if you're riding with me

USA vs. Spain

I suppose one might wonder what kind of deep analysis this matchup actually requires, because honestly, what is there even to say about this game? It seems like Spain is the heavy favorite according to all the sportsbooks and pretty much everything else out there...

Personally, I went ahead and placed a tiny little wager on an American victory, mostly just being a fan and thinking there might be some sort of value there at 8.0 odds, but... well, what strikes me as a decent enough option is actually the double chance for a draw or a win at 2.4. If my memory serves me right—and I could be wrong, of course—Spain hasn't really been dominating anyone in regulation time for nearly a century... and if they have their sights set on making it to the finals, I suspect they’ll definitely try to avoid running into Italy, which makes this a perfect moment for them to aim for something like a 2:2 draw. I feel like I've seen it happen far too many times where a specific scoreline just fits both teams perfectly, and when all twenty-two players on the pitch seem to want the same outcome, it almost always ends up happening that way. Also, just as an aside, the value on a precise 2:2 scoreline is sitting at 8.0 over at DraftKings

Good luck to everyone, and let's hope our boys pull it off!

USA vs. Spain 1 @9 Hattrick

Solid odds. If our guys play perfectly while the Spaniards stumble, we could actually pull this off. I’m expecting some tactical masterstrokes from Coach Adams that even the greats haven't seen before, topped off by a 91st-minute free kick goal from the keeper to make it 3-2 and send Spain packing.☕

Basically, if you combine our team's insane grit, Adams' tactical shifts and lineup changes(🙂), and Spain's sloppy play and nerves... it might just happen. Our guys always play their best against the giants, and honestly, even if we lose, I won't care much since the stakes are purely symbolic.

feralnomad99 said:Honestly, I think walking away with a 1-0 win is a solid result for this matchup. If my memory serves me right, the Spanish side hasn't put anyone in the dirt like that during regulation time in about a century. It’s a decent outcome—nothing more, nothing less. If they’re actually eyeing a spot in the finals, they’ll definitely try to dodge Italy. This is their one shot at pulling off a 2-2 draw. I’ve seen it happen too many times—when a specific scoreline hits the betting lines and all twenty-two players on that pitch suddenly find themselves working toward the same outcome. It happens. A 2-2 draw is worth an 8.0 payout. In the SS.

I’ll only be commenting on the bolded part.

1. I doubt teams from this same group will even cross paths until the finals anyway. 🤷
It doesn't matter—I doubt this will even serve as motivation for the Spanish side ahead of today's match. They're playing for themselves and that top spot in the group; there’s no room for gamesmanship when the stakes are this high. One fluke goal and they drop from first to third. 🤷

2. An 8.00 odds on a 2-2 draw—that’s anything but value.
The standard odds for that result should be at least two or three times higher than 8.00.

The Italians need a win to actually stay in the hunt for the quarterfinals. The Irish have been the biggest disappointment of the tournament so far—even their supposedly "tough" defense has been a sieve, giving up seven goals in just two matches. Italy is bringing Barzagli back into the lineup, and instead of Balotelli, they’re starting the veteran Di Natale.
Italy held their own surprisingly well against Spain, and honestly, they looked better than us—so I don't see them having much trouble with an Irish side that has zero chance of advancing, even if they fight for pride. They might rotate some bench players, but with the likes of Pirlo, Di Natale, and Cassano leading the charge, the Italians are heavy favorites. This should be a routine job.
Someone mentioned on the chat that the handicap line for Italy is sitting at 1.80 at our local sportsbooks, but I just checked Pinnacle and it's sitting at a massive 2.32. Personally, I think the fair value is somewhere in the middle, around 2.00—which means this is too good not to play.

Italy -1.5 @ 2.32 Pinnacle 6/10

St(r)ange: 4w/10l/2w ; -7.3 units

Man, I'd love to miss this bet only if the Irish manage a draw—not if they get edged out by a single goal in some typically Italian fashion. 😬

USA (59.5% possession) vs. Germany at 1.85

We all know how the Americans play—they’re obsessed with keeping the ball, just passing it around endlessly to build up until they find that perfect opening to score. While our midfield is actually holding its own quite well right now, if the scoreline stays in their favor for a while, I suspect we’ll end up sitting back pretty deep, just waiting for that one chance to hit them on a quick counterattack. Looking at the stats from when they played Italy, they held about 60% possession, and against Ireland, it was closer to 66%. This is the big one for them, so they’re going to want total control of the tempo, probably trying to hover somewhere between 65% and 70% possession... honestly, if we manage to take an early lead, I think we’ll just retreat even further, which makes me think there might be some decent value in betting on high possession here...

What do you guys think?
