A slightly lower hemoglobin and MCV could point toward microcytic anemia—which is super common for women due to periods—but I wouldn't sweat it. Iron is sitting right at the bottom edge of the range, and TIBC is at the top, which pretty much backs up what I'm saying. Doesn't seem related to the NHL stuff. Did you guys get the LDH and beta2-microglobulin checked? Cheers.

Nah, I just had this done a few days ago at the local clinic and everything looks normal.

(S) lactate dehydrogenase : 217 U/L reference interval: (S) C reactive protein : 0.4 mg/L reference interval 0.0 - 5.0

Thanks for the info above. I was getting a bit worked up because I'm trying to bounce back from an eating disorder, so I figured I probably had "some kind of" anemia. But really, I'm just asking for my mom's sake because she loses it whenever she sees the letter L.🙂

Thanks for the info above. I was getting a little worked up because I’ve been trying to bounce back from an eating disorder, so I figured maybe there was some kind of anemia going on. But honestly, I’m mostly asking for my mom—she basically loses her mind whenever she sees the letter L on a lab report. 🙂

LDH stands for lactate dehydrogenase. Your numbers are totally normal, so that's good news. Just keep focusing on eating healthy and you'll be fine. Best of luck.

Maria Fisher46 said:Dear lady,

The second issue, which complicates how we read these results—particularly during pregnancy—is that bacteria naturally residing in the lower part of the urinary tract can occasionally trigger an actual infection.

I believe it would be wise, in coordination with your OB-GYN, to repeat the urine culture, paying extra attention to ensuring the sample is collected perfectly this time.

Best regards. 🙂

Hello, thank you for getting back to me.
To be honest, I'm still a bit lost; my sister, who handed me this report, told me everything was fine, but after falling down a rabbit hole of online searches, I've ended up quite worried.🤷 Is there actually anything in these results that warrants concern?

But I'm still a bit confused. My sister, who actually ran this test for me, told me everything was fine, but after digging around online, I've fallen down quite a rabbit hole. 🤷 Is there any actual reason to be worried about these results or not?

The assumption here is that this result stems from a poorly collected urine sample, so there shouldn't be cause for alarm. However, since you are pregnant, it would be wise to coordinate with your OB-GYN to have the test repeated.

With pregnancy, we always aim for perfectly clean results.

When it comes to pregnancy, we generally aim for nothing less than a perfectly clean bill of health.

Thanks!

Hey there!

First off, sorry I can't upload the full thyroid panel right here.

I’m actually asking for a buddy of mine—he's a 21-year-old guy—and he’s trying to figure out his next move. He's wondering if anyone can give him a heads-up on what to expect, since his TSH came back at 7.19, even though his T4 levels are sitting right within the normal range.

Thanks in advance!

This is for a buddy of mine—male, 21 years old. He's basically looking for some advice on what his next move should be, or if you guys could just give him a heads-up on what to expect. His TSH came back at 7.19, but his T4 levels are sitting right within the normal range.

Thanks in advance!

It’s most likely subclinical hypothyroidism, or just a basic case of a "sluggish thyroid." He might end up needing hormone replacement therapy, basically just taking a daily pill to keep things balanced.

Look, those liver enzymes aren't even that high. The triglycerides are definitely up, but when you're looking at total cholesterol, you really need to check the HDL and LDL levels too. That low creatinine? It's practically nothing. Everything else looks totally normal except for the TSH. You should get—or redo—your AST, ALT, GGT, ALP, bilirubin, hepatitis markers, and maybe an abdominal ultrasound just to be safe. Seriously, there is absolutely no reason to panic here.

You should probably go back and retest your AST, ALT, GGT, ALP, bilirubin, and hepatitis markers, plus maybe schedule an abdominal ultrasound just to be safe. Honestly, there's no reason to lose sleep over this.

Panic is definitely in the air here, 😢 😢

I'll go ahead and get those tests repeated... thanks.

Hey everyone,

Can someone help me make sense of these blood test results for my little one? He's 16 months old, and honestly, he seems totally fine—super happy, active, and just his usual energetic self.
The thing that’s really got my spouse and me on edge is this constant runny nose. During the day, it's just normal white mucus, but by nighttime, it all thickens up and turns this nasty yellow-green color. On top of that, he’s been running fevers here and there—usually hitting around 101.8°F, though we had one crazy night where it spiked to 103.3°F. Our pediatrician says everything looks okay and thinks it might just be some kind of bacterial infection.
Here are the lab results:
Hematology Results
Result Unit Ref. Range
RBC 4.59 x10e12/L (4.00-5.00)
Hemoglobin 118 g/L (109-138)
Hematocrit 0.357 L/L (0.320-0.404)
MCV 77.8 fL (73.8-89.4)
MCH 25.6 pg (24.3-29.2)
MCHC 330 g/L (300-350)
RDW 14.7 % (11.9-16.2)
Platelets 421 x10e9/L (150-450)
MPV 10.3 fL (6.9-11.3)
WBC 10.3 x10e9/L (6.0-16.0)

Differential Count
Neutrophils 52.0 % (23-66)
Lymphocytes 28.0 % (18-60)
Reactive Lymphocytes 3.0 % (0)
Monocytes 17.0 H % (5-13)

Clinical Biochemistry
CRP 10.2 H mg/L (0.1-2.8)

We already went in for a nasal swab, so we should have those results by Monday. I'll keep you guys posted.

Could someone please explain what these elevated monocytes and high CRP mean? 😕
Is this something we actually need to worry about, or am I just overthinking it?

Just as a heads-up, he's started daycare, and it feels like he catches something like this every three or four weeks like clockwork.

Thanks so much in advance! 🙂

Could someone please walk me through these blood test results for my kid? He’s 16 months old. For what it's worth, he seems totally fine—great mood, super active, zero issues on our end. Just trying to make sense of the numbers.
So, here’s what’s actually eating at my wife and me. We're dealing with this constant discharge—it looks like normal white discharge during the day, but once night rolls around, everything just thickens up and turns this nasty yellow-green color. On top of that, her temperature is all over the place; she’s mostly hitting around 101.8°F, though she did spike up to a brutal 103.3°F one night. Her doctor is basically brushing it off, saying everything looks fine and it's probably just some random bacterial thing.
Here’s the bloodwork:
Lab hematology.
Result Unit Reference Interval
Red blood cell count came back at 4.59 x10e12/L. Normal range is listed as 4.00-5.00. Looks like I'm sitting pretty right in the middle of the pack.
K-Hemoglobin 118 g/L (Normal range: 109-138)
K-Hematocrit 0.357 L/L (Ref: 0.320-0.404)
K-MCV 77.8 fL (Normal range: 73.8-89.4)
K-MCH: 25.6 pg (Normal range: 24.3-29.2)
K-MCHC 330 g/L (Normal range: 300-350)
K-RDW is sitting at 14.7%. The normal range is listed as 11.9 to 16.2, so we’re right in the sweet spot. No issues there.
Platelets: 421 x10e9/L (Normal range: 150-450)
K-MPV 10.3 fL (Ref range: 6.9-11.3)
White blood cell count came back at 10.3. Reference range is 6.0 to 16.0, so we’re sitting pretty right in the middle of the pack. Nothing to write home about.

Differential blood count.
Neutrophil count came back at 52.0%. Reference range says 23-66%, so looks like I'm sitting pretty right in the middle of the pack. Nothing to write home about.
K-Lymphocytes 28.0% (Ref: 18-60%)
K-reactive lymphocytosis. 3.0%. (0)
K-Monocytes: 17.0 Hey. % (5-13)

Clinical biochemistry.
S-CRP is sitting at 10.2. Hey. The levels are sitting right between 0.1 and 2.8 mg/L.

We just finished up the nasal swab. Results should be in by Monday, so I'll hit you guys up once we know what's what.

Could someone please break down what these elevated monocyte levels and high CRP actually mean? 😕
Is this actually something we need to be stressing about, or are we just overthinking it?

So, basically, the kid's in preschool, which means we’re stuck dealing with this whole cycle every three weeks or so. It’s like a revolving door of germs.

Thanks in advance. 🙂

So, is he coughing? Any rain hitting the windows over there? And how long has this fever been hanging around?
Honestly, I don't think you need to sweat the monocyte count. It’s probably just reactive monocytosis—basically just your body reacting to some inflammation going on somewhere. The CRP points toward inflammation, sure, but it isn't high enough to be a major red flag. Since the total white blood cell count looks steady, I wouldn't jump to conclusions about a serious bacterial infection either. Most likely, you're just dealing with a virus.

My potassium levels have always been bottomed out, consistently sitting below 3. I started digging around online because my doctor was getting pretty concerned about why it stays so low. I just finished a 24-hour urine test, and here are the results:

Sample Type: urine
Calcium (mmol/dU) 2.26
Phosphorus (mmol/dU) 39.69
Total protein - undetermined
Volume dU (mL) 1,420

Sample Type🙏serum
Calcium (mmol/L) 2.48
Phosphorus (mmol/L) 1.06
Creatinine (umol/L) 80
Creatinine clearance (2.18)
Note: 24-hour urine volume: 1420ml

I've got an appointment with a nephrologist coming up soon to go over this and get a professional take.
If anyone here knows what might be going on or has dealt with something similar, I'd appreciate any insight you can share.

The labs show hypokalemia, hyperlipidemia with high triglycerides, and mild hyperuricemia.
I didn't see the 24-hour urine results anywhere.
There absolutely needs to be a reduction in total cholesterol—strictly follow a low-fat, low-salt diet, and cut out all sugar immediately.
Based on these lab findings, we need to repeat or perform a CBC, CRP, AST, ALT, GGT, glucose, urea, creatinine, urate, a complete lipid panel, K, Na, Cl, Ca, P, LDH, 24h urinary cortisol, aldosterone via 24h urine, electrolytes via 24h urine, and potentially check thyroid function.
Monitor blood pressure; if indicated, start a lipid-lowering medication and an antihypertensive for elevated BP.
Consult with a nephrologist.

Thanks for the input..
In my first post, I laid out the whole 24-hour urine analysis... that was pretty much all I got back. So, does this mean I need to dodge sugar, salt, and fats!?
And I'm only 36!
Just waiting to see what the nephrologist has to say..

Honestly, I wouldn't sweat those monocyte levels too much. It’s most likely just reactive monocytosis—basically just his body reacting to some inflammation. Since the CRP indicates inflammation but isn't through the roof, and the total white blood cell count looks steady, I don't think we're looking at a major bacterial infection. It's probably just a little virus running its course.

The coughing started in the middle of the night and went on for about an hour straight without stopping. He's had a fever for two days now, which we've been keeping under control with Tylenol. His nose is running non-stop, so we've been using the baby saline spray constantly, plus we've been doing the Miralax rinse for three days straight.

Thanks for the help! 🙂
