Street Fighter (2013)

To me, it looks pretty solid. I'm honestly really looking forward to seeing this when it finally hits shelves. 😁

To looks like some kind of Dark Knight version of MK to me. Like they're trying way too hard to be "realistic." Honestly, if I had my way, the movie would feel more like the actual game, because I'm a massive fan of the series. I mean, seriously, those generic barracks? Give me a break... 😁

It appears that Mortal Kombat is finally being given the gritty reboot treatment we've all been waiting for. 🙂

To be clear, that video isn't actually a trailer, nor is a movie currently in production. It’s more of a short proof-of-concept clip where director Kevin Tancharoen presented his specific vision for an R-rated Mortal Kombat film to Warner Bros., essentially using it as a blueprint for what he'd like to achieve. As of today, the project hasn't officially been greenlit, so there's no guarantee we'll ever see it, but I suppose it would be quite something if they actually went through with it.

Then pretty soon after, rumors started flying online that if a movie actually happens, it'll be Adkins playing Sub-Zero... I heard that from sources close to Scott himself, haha😁👍
And these posters were basically designed to fuel that fire...

BTW... here are some details about the promo video itself...

* They shot the short film over two days on two RED cameras

* Started in early April and it took 2 months to do the post production. Most people donated their time. The short was made for $7,500

* Knew if he was going to get a chance at a genre picture, he’d have to show he could do it on his own. This is his card for a chance AT Making The next Mortal Kombat feature film and IT ’ S his Vision for How He ’ d do IT

* No one at any studio knew he was doing the short

* Oren Uziel wrote the short. He’s currently listed on IMDb to write the next Mortal Kombat movie at Warner Bros.

* Says he wants to make a movie that balances the real world with the mysticism and the special powers. Compares IT to The way Harry Potter exists in Two Worlds. As in there
are two universes that coexist with each other.

* Confirms “fatalities” are definitely in his movie. He wants to put them in the tournament in an “organic way”

* Definitely would use “get over here” (the classic line from the game)

* White plays Jax Briggs in The short and He ’ d definitely be a part of The feature

* Says Scorpion is the bad guy and will stay a bad guy

* They only had 4 hours to shoot the big fight scene

I was honestly a bit taken aback by the initial hype surrounding the movie—seeing something like 2 or 3 million views within just the first couple of days on YouTube, if I'm reading those numbers right.
I truly hope the project actually comes to fruition, though—even if the trailer leaves me with the impression that the plot is somewhat... vacuous? It seems to be nothing more than a collection of freaks brawling through some gritty underground scene. My sincere hope is that they manage to weave in a few genuinely original MK storylines into this modern iteration, and that the rivalry between Sub-Zero and Scorpion plays out exactly as we saw in the trailer. 😁
And of course—they aren't holding back on the fatalities, yet somehow they're still giving us this PG-13 treatment!
