When it comes to concerts and money, you work hard to earn it, and I’d much rather blow my cash on a killer show than some other useless crap. Besides, flying out to New York City, Vienna, or Berlin isn't a big deal. I don't regret spending the money...

Regarding the SC music scene, honestly, it might be the best thing to happen to the local culture in the last decade. I’ll probably write a whole post about it on my blog.

Bottom line here is the situation:

We still haven't found anyone to go to the concert in New York City!!! 😢

I honestly think I’m going to archive this whole debate—especially since it keeps circling back to "that concert hall is just a monument to elitism"—and post it on a bunch of different forums!

Honestly, I can't even agree with myself half the time.😲

Look, for those who haven't caught on yet, the student union isn't set up to just wire $50k or $100k from their accounts to some massive concert agency (especially when half that goes straight into production costs anyway)... they just can't handle that kind of volume.
If you want to move that much cash, you go to the big commercial promoters...

The whole point of the music program at the student center is to be self-sustaining, educational, and accessible to as many people as possible, specifically focusing on students.

Whenever we can pull off a bigger name thanks to a friendship with an agent or a musician, we jump on it. That’s how we’ve managed to bring acts like The National, Butthole Surfers, Cocorosie, Calexico, Lambchop, Bonnie Prince Billy, and The Notwist to town over the last few years—all with discounted fees, which means tickets end up way cheaper here than they would be in the rest of Europe.

Trying to get into a bidding war against two other organizers who are already eyeing Arcade Fire + Fleet Foxes just doesn't make sense...

At the end of the day, all that matters is that the show happens; I don't care who's organizing it. Honestly, someone probably would've brought Anthony to a venue like Carnegie Hall this November anyway, assuming he hasn't bailed on his European tour by then.

So, is anyone actually going to show up for Arcade Fire + Fleet Foxes or what? 😁
