How do I delete my profile?

I’ve been digging through the settings everywhere, but I can't seem to find the option to delete my profile on this forum. Does anyone know how to go about it?

You set up the account yourself, and you shut it down yourself—you stop logging in, you walk away, you pass on, you vanish into thin air... that's about it.

Oh, come on, you know as well as I do that on this forum, even when people are actually discussing something, it usually spirals into off-topic nonsense immediately. Nobody really follows the thread; it just depends on which sub-forum you're in.

By the way, I'm a woman, and I agree with all five points—maybe I phrased my question poorly...
The real issue here is how some people abuse other users' profiles by digging through their history and then trying to bully them for things they wrote ages ago...

It’s really quite simple, there's absolutely no reason to fight or get worked up over this... Believe me, the digital world is never going to have any significant impact on your actual life.😉

By clicking "agree to terms," you're basically agreeing to this one specific rule. It says once you hit send, everything you write under your precious little username isn't yours anymore—it belongs to Anderson Cooper. I mean, since when does an owner care what anyone posts?
Even the dumb stuff you post on a forum matters. If you type something stupid into Google, your nonsense from this site shows up in the search results.

And yeah, more clicks on the forum means more ad revenue.

So, I guess it makes sense why they won't let you delete posts, though there's also that whole reason about how messy discussions get if half the replies vanish.

Basically, you've got four choices here:
- just don't post
- start your own forum where you can delete whatever you want since you'd be the boss
- keep posting, but realize nothing gets deleted
- learn how to hack and raid the database (just leave my posts alone)

Just don't write.
Why not just go ahead and build your own forum? You can write whatever you want and delete it whenever you feel like it. After all, you’d be the ones running the show.
Go ahead and speak your mind, but just remember: there’s no delete button here. Once it's out there, it stays.
Learn how to hack, then go after the forum's database. Just leave my posts alone.

So, what does this actually mean? How does one even end up in this mess?

It was a server error—specifically a database issue. From what I’ve gathered, some user profiles were lost during the migration to a new machine. I don't have firsthand confirmation, just hearsay.

I was just repeating what I heard from 😁. Apparently, there was this massive crash on the forum, and everyone who was active ended up losing their accounts—basically, their handles were gone. I guess they all had to go through the whole registration process all over again.

I think I have a question too 😬
Someone started a thread about Metallica a couple of months back, covering all sorts of random stuff. I replied to them, basically just pointing out that there’s already a dedicated music thread for that kind of thing. Well, that person ended up deleting their original post, and since my reply was the very first response, my comment got bumped up to become the opening post. Now it looks like I'm the one who started this whole thread.

I went ahead and deleted it myself

Either send a private message to one of the mods over there to explain yourself, or just report your own post () and include this same reasoning in the report description.

The second option might actually be better since it ensures all the moderators will definitely see it. But honestly, a PM works too.

I'm looking to cancel my subscription as well. Honestly, I don't even care if my posts stay up. My real question is: would my profile be wiped out if I got banned? For instance, if I just decide to go off the rails and start posting total nonsense in every single thread.
