"High Anxiety" might actually be the superior parody, though that’s saying something alongside "To be or not to be," which he produced rather than directed.

Mel Brooks is a true auteur, even if people tend to overlook that because of the specific genres he plays in. Honestly, "Young Frankenstein" is one of the most masterfully directed films out there, period.

In my estimation, Young Frankenstein stands as his absolute crowning achievement. I have always held a profound appreciation for his work; the man possesses a singular, unparalleled talent for crafting comedy that is, quite frankly, nothing short of brilliant.

When I was putting together that survey, I found myself completely stuck on what my own vote would actually look like, mostly because making a definitive call on this stuff is such a massive headache for me. Honestly, I tend to find most films pretty enjoyable across the board. I might give a slight edge to The Producers, but I definitely need to sit with my thoughts a bit longer before I commit to a final answer.

For me, History of the World: Part I remains the absolute peak. I’ll never forget that moment where Oedipus and Aristotle turn to Plato just to say, "Look at Oedipus, he really messed up."😂

Mel Brooks is a straight-up genius. Honestly, Spaceballs is his best work.

I guess my favorite bit has to be that scene where Moses is lugging those stone tablets with the commandments around, trying to keep the crowd at bay while he’s holding fifteen of them, then he trips, one of the tablets shatters, and he just carries on with the remaining ten...
