So, I’m assuming we’re talking about occult bleeding here—nothing visible to the naked eye?
Nothing is visible to the naked eye.
Are you experiencing any other symptoms? Nausea, pain, or maybe certain foods don't sit well? What is your bowel movement typically like?
I deal with low blood pressure, so most of my issues usually crop up when the heat gets intense. As for medication, I don't take anything regularly, aside from an occasional antihistamine for pollen allergies. My digestion is generally normal, though things were a bit soft on the day the sample was taken. Good 40.

Grace Thompson57 said:It’s likely just gastritis. That said, things could be more serious, so getting an endoscopy and some blood work done would probably be wise. Starting treatment sooner rather than later is key; if you let the weight loss and other symptoms linger, you're just inviting more complications, and then we're looking at a much bigger problem altogether.

Thanks for the input, truly.

Betty Myers7 said:So, here’s the situation. Someone close to me—a guy, about 15 years old—has been dealing with daily stomach pains lately. There isn't much of a history of serious illness in the family, and he’s usually pretty resilient, but now he's losing his appetite entirely. He barely needs to eat, and the weight loss has been rapid; he’s dropped 12 pounds in just the last month or so...
I honestly have no clue what could be causing this, so I figured I'd ask if anyone here might know something...
I should mention, his father also went through a phase of sudden weight loss once, so maybe it isn't some major disease but just genetics at play. Still, if anyone suspects anything specific, any insight would definitely help...

Please?

Here are two links that might be worth a look if you want to read up on digestive system issues and stomach ailments.
From my own experience, it’s entirely possible there's a bacterial infection in the stomach (Helicobacter pylori), which can be confirmed via a biopsy during an endoscopy.
That particular bacterium causes symptoms very similar to what you described. Honestly, the best move is to get him to a doctor for some testing. I truly hope it turns out to be nothing significant and just some passing phase, especially since he's still so young.
If it is bacteria, it's treated with antibiotics, so there's no need to panic even if they find something.

Can someone take a look at my urine results and tell me what you think? My doctor mentioned my leukocytes and protein levels are a bit high, and she suggested it might just be from standing on my feet all day too much...

Leu - 25
Pro - 0.25
Ubg - 17

Leukocyte sedimentation

Leukocytes - 2-4
Epithelial cells - 3-7
Bacteria - 1
Crystals - 1
Salts - 3

The doc told me to chug as much water and cranberry juice as possible, but honestly, I'm pretty clueless about all this. If anyone can break this down for me, I'd appreciate it...

She deals with low blood pressure, so most issues pop up when it gets too hot. Medication-wise, she doesn't take anything except an occasional antihistamine for pollen allergies. Stools are generally normal, though they were soft on the day the sample was taken. Hemoglobin is 40.

You can't get a precise diagnosis without testing. It doesn't seem like an emergency, though there are never any guarantees. If she isn't feeling worse or experiencing severe symptoms, she could head out on vacation. But once she's back, she needs to schedule those follow-up tests immediately.
Just watch out during high temperatures or physical exertion—low blood pressure combined with anemia is a nasty cocktail. She needs to make sure she's eating enough, including salt, and staying hydrated!
It would be a good idea for her to eat red meat regularly—it’s the best way to absorb iron.
If she struggles with heartburn, she should avoid coffee and acidic foods, especially on an empty stomach. A probiotic (ask at a pharmacy for capsules, or just stick to things like Acidophil or Bioactive... just remember those "yogurts" are acidic, so don't have them on an irritated stomach) will help with stool quality, along with plenty of fiber (grains, fruit, raw veggies...).

Jessica Walker said:About a month ago I had a herpes outbreak—it cleared up, but when I went for blood work right after, my ALT was high. I just did more tests this morning (needed them to get my pills from the OBGYN) and now both my ALT and AST are elevated.
Why?😕 I feel fine, really—no virus or anything—but I was taking Dabroston a couple of weeks before my period started. Could that be it?

My brother just got his results back and everything looks normal except for total bilirubin, which is at 61, plus S-ALP is 40 and S-Potassium is 3.8 (which is a tiny bit off)
Can anyone tell me what the next move should be

Can anyone tell me what the next steps should be?

First off, why was he even getting these tests done in the first place? What kind of health issues is he dealing with?

I just got my blood and urine results back after being diagnosed with cystitis, and honestly, everything looks pretty much perfect😕🤷
- WBC 8.5 (ref. 3.4 - 9.7)
- WBC - some MPV - 10.8 (ref.6.8 - 10.4)
- WBC - some RDW is 14100 (ref.9000 - 15.000)
Urine analysis - all negative
- WBC in sediment 1-2

The thing is, I had these tests done after I’d already started antibiotics on my doctor's advice—I'd already knocked back two doses about 12 hours apart—so is it actually possible the meds are already killing the infection so effectively🤷... and that those slightly elevated white cell counts are just a sign that my immune system and the antibiotics are doing their job? (Sorry if I'm sounding like a total amateur here, I'm just trying to figure out if it's really cystitis or if something else could be causing these exact same symptoms)🤷

Just got my bloodwork back today.
Everything looks fine, actually—nothing out of the ordinary except for one thing:
-total bilirubin, which came in at 32.7 (the normal range is 3-20).

I actually grabbed a sandwich and some coffee this morning before the draw. I’m not sure why I did that, but could that have messed with the results?

This is my third time getting blood drawn this year, and my bilirubin levels were totally fine and within range every other time. This is the first time it's spiked... is 33 considered a big jump?

Also, the bilirubin in my urine isn't negative.

[/B]Hey everyone.
I have a question for you. Everyone keeps telling me that sedimentation rates drop incredibly slowly.
Is it actually possible for an ESR to plummet from 18 down to 4 in just a month if you’ve been hit with the right antibiotic to fight inflammation?
The standard range is usually 2-13mm/hr.

Since the liver can regenerate, is it also possible for ALT levels—which signal liver damage during something like antibiotic therapy—to bounce back into the "normal" range that quickly?
How fast does the liver typically recover?

And do all antibiotics continue to exert some kind of effect even after you've finished the course?

I was wondering if everything might be okay with my health based on these recent blood test results:
elevated levels
RBC, 5.32
hemoglobin 162
MCHC 346
cholesterol 7.63
triglycerides 2.24

I would really appreciate your thoughts on this, thank you so much.

My thoughts on this knee MRI report:

"On the sagittal, transverse, and coronal MRI views of the right knee, there is a complete tear of the ACL.
There are focal impact zones on both femoral condyles near the anterior horns of the meniscus, measuring about 10mm. This is accompanied by an articular cartilage lesion.
Subchondral bone edema suggests an older injury.
In the remaining areas, the femoral, tibial, and patellar articular cartilage show normal morphology and signal intensity.
The morphology and signal intensity of both menisci appear normal.
The posterior cruciate ligament, both collateral ligaments, the iliotibial band, the quadriceps tendon, and the patellar ligament all show normal signal intensity and morphology.
There is no significant intra-articular effusion.
The other visualized bone, soft tissue, and neurovascular structures show normal signal intensity and appropriate morphology.
CONCLUSION:
MRI of the right knee shows a complete ACL rupture and focal impact of both femoral condyles ventrally. All other findings are within physiological limits."

Can someone translate this for me? Specifically, what kind of surgery am I looking at and how long is the recovery period for this type of injury and procedure? THANKS

Before I head to my doctor, can you guys tell me if my hemoglobin is actually low? Like, is everything looking okay with my blood work? (I've just been sleeping all day and feeling totally wiped out lately)

Here’s what my labs look like:

RBC 4.36
Hemoglobin 138
Hematocrit 0.410

Trace elements:
Iron 20 (listed as totally fine)

I don't get it though... how can my iron be fine but my hemoglobin is kinda low when it's literally made of iron?

And could you also specify what the "normal" range is from

RBC - 4.36 (4.34-5.72)
hemoglobin - 138 (138-175)
hematocrit - 0.410 (0.415-0.530)
ESR - 3 (2-13)

everything looks kinda low to me 😁 I mean, except for the hematocrit, everything is technically within the normal range, but it’s all hugging that bottom line, you know?

I'm totally clueless about this stuff, but could this be some early sign of anemia?

So, what do you guys think? Surely there are plenty of experts here way smarter than me! 🙂)

Hey everyone,

I’m posting here because I’d love to get some perspective on something. It’s about my mom's health. About 5 or 6 days ago, she went out for groceries and barely made it back home. She told me she struggled just to finish the shopping because her vision started going dark, so a friend had to step in and help her get everything home. She said she kept seeing black spots, and then it felt like these weird sparks or flashes in her eyes. She felt weak all day, and for the next few days, she's been dealing with bouts of weakness constantly.
On Monday, she saw her primary care physician, who mentioned it might be something neurological since she was seeing those sparks, and ordered some blood work. The results came back, so I’ll list the values that were outside the normal range below.

WBC 11.4
lymphocytes 4.40
granulocytes 6.50
glucose 4.2
cholesterol 5.9
LDL cholesterol 3.49
iron 32.3
TIBC 77.9

She went back to see her doctor today to go over everything, and the high iron levels are what have her most worried. The doctor noted that elevated iron is pretty common in people, especially men, who use steroids.

She was advised to get her blood retested in 10 days and to schedule an appointment with her OB-GYN.

The doctor is concerned because Mom has been dealing with constant weakness and dizziness lately, and they aren't quite sure why. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be? Or maybe you've dealt with something similar?

Not sure if I missed anything important... she's 48 and hasn't really had health issues before.

RESULTS:

1. ph=8
2. 1ml = 12,000,000 sperm count
3. 3ml total volume
4. Motility breakdown: 40% highly active
20% moderately active
40% non-motile
5. Sample consistency: thick
sticky
6. Morphology looks normal

IS THERE ANY HOPE HERE??? (I mean, for having kids, obviously)

THANKS IN ADVANCE

I just went through a full blood panel recently. Everything seems fine at first glance—except for a few things. My sedimentation rate is slightly elevated, my hemoglobin and hematocrit are low, and my white blood cell count is up. To top it off, the morphology section mentions toxic changes in some individual neutrophil granulocytes. I get it—high WBCs and a high sedimentation rate usually point toward inflammation—but I can’t stop obsessing over one question: could this be a sign of cancer? Seriously, what kind of specific values in a blood test actually signal something like that?

Six Chinese people have died over the last ten days in hospitals across eastern China, all after receiving a vaccine containing human immunoglobulin—that protein used to trigger antibody production—according to the Associated Press. Local authorities reported the deaths, and now Jiangxi Yabo biti is facing accusations of negligence for producing the vaccine in partnership with a university in Atlanta. All related vaccines have been pulled from the market following the link to these fatalities. None of the official reports actually specify what these patients were being treated for in the first place... and now, after this string of fatal outcomes from various vaccines, the authorities are trying to tighten up standards for low-quality shots, though they haven't really produced any concrete results yet. Beyond the quality issues, the sheer number of different manufacturers is giving officials a massive headache, making oversight of the final product nearly impossible, according to some American healthcare workers.
