Can anyone help me make sense of these lab results? My doctor is out on vacation right now.

I’ll just list the stuff that looks off.

- BUN 1.8
- TGL 2.63
- MCH 26.7
- MCHC 310
- RDW 13.3
lipemic serum

urine sediment 8-10
E 5-6
0-1 bulrep.
rare plq. ep.

So, I realized my triglycerides are high, and I know what lipemic serum means, but I don't even eat heavy or greasy meals.🤷
About a month and a half ago, I started taking Keppra for epilepsy. Is it possible for these numbers to get worse because of those meds?

Nah, I've got an IUD. My doctor knows the deal and said it shouldn't be an issue. You think that could be what's causing this?

Women seriously don't pay enough attention to how much birth control pills mess with other meds, just look at what happens when you mix Yasmin with Accutane. I doubt the Mirena is the culprit here, but honestly, just try going without it and then get your blood work done again to check those triglyceride levels—if they haven't moved, then that pill is definitely the problem, Arvind, so go demand they switch you to something else.

Hey there...
So, I had a urine culture done last week because we thought there might be an infection, but the results came back "sterile," with negative nitrites and leukocytes. Can someone help me make sense of what "sterile" actually means in this context?🤷

Hey everyone—I've been feeling totally wiped out for a few months now. Just zero energy, a low-grade fever, and some nagging pain in my salivary glands. Back in December, my doctor ordered bloodwork because they suspected mono. The results finally came back, but honestly, neither my primary care physician nor the infectious disease specialist I saw today could (or maybe just wouldn't?) give me a straight answer:

- EBV capsid antigen (CA) IgM antibodies = 13 (negative < 100)
- EBV capsid antigen (CA) IgG antibodies = 2896 (negative < 100)
- EBV early diffuse antigen (EA(D)) IgG antibodies = 130 (negative < 100)
- EBV nuclear antigen (EBNA) IgG antibodies = 516 (negative)

- CMV IgG antibodies = 243 (negative < 6)
- CMV IgM antibodies = 0.08 (negative < 0.85)

My CBC was fine, and my liver enzymes look normal too.

What I really want to know is—do I still have this virus active? Am I contagious to the people around me? And should I be taking it easy, watching what I eat, or can I just get back to my normal routine and hit the gym?
I asked the specialist all of this today, but his big takeaway was "let's just re-run the tests in the spring and see." Between the chaos of the clinic and the rush, he barely gave me a second glance.🤷

Any advice or even just a perspective would be appreciated. 😢

If those IgM antibodies come back negative, it basically means there isn't an active infection going on right now. As for the IgG antibodies—and just to be clear, these aren't viruses themselves—they tend to hang around in your system for a long time, sometimes even for life, acting as a sort of acquired immunity. You aren't contagious to anyone else. Beyond that, looking at these specific results, it doesn't necessarily prove you actually suffered through mononucleosis; you might have just been exposed to it. Honestly, most of us have crossed paths with that virus at some point in our lives, and even a simple encounter can be enough to trigger the production of antibodies.

new😁
So... I’ve been on Novocain for about a week now. How much can an antibiotic actually mess with your blood work? Like, what specific levels are we talking about—up or down?

Also, is it even possible to have mono without running a fever? I’m feeling completely wiped out, and my lymph nodes in my neck were swollen. My doctor originally thought it was just sinus inflammation because my throat was hurting. Now, after a week on the antibiotics, I’m feeling a lot better, but that exhaustion just won't quit... and while the swelling in my lymph nodes has gone down, I can still feel them if I touch them.
thanks guys🙂

So, here's the deal—I’ve got some slightly atypical... results coming back. What exactly am I looking at here?? 🤷

Atypical lymphocytes, maybe?
I stumbled across that term while I was googling stuff about mono...👎

I saw that mentioned online while I was digging around looking up mono...👎

If those are indeed atypical lymphocytes, then what's the actual deal here? Like, what does that even mean for me? I've already dealt with mono before... wtf!!!

Plus, my lymphocyte count is just a tiny bit elevated—it's sitting at 0.47, while the normal limit is 0.46.

If anyone can provide insight:
White blood cell count 10.3 (3.4 - 9.7) - HIGH
MCV 80.9 (83.0 - 97.2) - LOW
MCH 27.2 (27.4 - 33.9) - LOW

Why is this happening? 🙂

I finally got my lab results back, and I’m sitting here wondering what any of this actually means... because, naturally, there's zero explanation included in the report. So, here it is: IgE RIST IgE= 25,3 ku/l

I'm honestly not quite sure where the best place is to ask this kind of thing.
So, I've been feeling a bit uneasy because I suspect I might have picked up chlamydia through sexual contact, and I was wondering if it actually makes any difference whether I request a urethral swab or a cervical one during my exam?
