I am aware, but that little asterisk on every lab report is irritating.
Lower is certainly better than higher.😬

Unsegmented neutrophils - 5.0 (0-2)
The doctor underlined this part and noted that I should wait until my period was finished before doing the urine test... I guess that's how it works.
Urinalysis (FKP)
Erythrocytes/hemoglobin - 1 ..0/neg
Urine Sample (PS)
Erythrocytes - 5-7 ..0/neg(x400)
If you want, I can list the full blood count so you get a better idea of what's going on.

Do you also need the urine analysis?

I just got my blood and urine results back today—and honestly, I’m a bit of a massive hypochondriac, so my brain immediately jumps to the worst-case scenario where I’m suffering from something catastrophic. 🙂
My CBC came back completely fine—everything is within the normal range—but the urine analysis is what’s bothering me.
URINE SEDIMENT
Cloudy
Leukocytes: 20 (normal is 0-2)
Bacteria: many
All other findings were negative.
From what I've read, it looks like some kind of inflammation. I’m seeing my doctor tomorrow, but if anyone here has any insight into what this might be, I’d appreciate it. I don't have any major issues when I go, though I am feeling a slight ache down low near the bladder on the left side. I'm a 32-year-old male. Thanks for the help... 😕

My dermatologist suspected Lichen Planus, so she did a skin biopsy. I just picked up the results today and I really need some clarification on what this actually means:
A 0.3cm skin sample was analyzed. Histologically, the surface shows hyperkeratotic and orthokeratotic epidermis, while sparse lymphocytic infiltrates are found pericapillary within the papillary dermis. The histological finding is non-specific and cannot confirm a diagnosis of Lichen Planus. Dr. Harvey, I still owe you those reports regarding my friend's issues with brain function and aphasia, but I should have them later this week and will update you with the exact diagnosis!

Maria Fisher46 said:Hey there, bluebadger12,
Your doctor is asking those questions because they spotted ketones in your urine. One reason you might see ketones pop up is if you’ve been fasting for a while or if you're dealing with dehydration from things like vomiting or diarrhea. Of course, there are other reasons too, so we really need to rule everything out.
Regarding that bilirubin finding—usually, a urine bilirubin test comes back negative. If it shows up positive, it could point toward something going on with your liver or gallbladder. That said, there are also times when you get a false positive, sometimes just from certain medications you might be taking.
You should probably go back and redo the urine test to check the ketones, bilirubin, and urobilinogen again. If the bilirubin still shows up positive, the next step would be checking your serum bilirubin levels and running some liver function tests along with other screenings. Honestly, if I were in your shoes, the moment I went back for that repeat urine test, I'd ask them to run the serum bilirubin (both direct and indirect) and the full liver panel right away. It’s also worth double-checking your blood sugar.
As for the urine culture, your doctor can usually get a call within 24 hours letting them know if any pathogenic bacteria are growing, and most of those results are wrapped up within two days.
Definitely touch base with your doctor about this, and I'm sure our colleague Harvey will jump in soon with his own take and advice.
Best, 🙂

bluebadger12 said:Thanks again! Everything looks solid on my blood work—bilirubin is normal, blood sugar is fine, and my liver enzymes (AST, ALT, GGT) are all perfectly centered. CRP is normal too. It’s just that urine test that has me worried, because I went ahead and did a full panel including liver function, CRP, triglycerides, and everything else, and they all came back completely normal. AST 19 (11-38)
ALT 19 (12-48) GGT 31 (11-55) glucose 5.5 (4.4 - 6.4) total bilirubin 18 (3-20)
Maria Fisher46 said:In that case, I’d suggest getting a retest for ketones, Bilirubin, and Urobilinogen.
Regarding those ketones—it’s entirely possible they’re showing up because you haven't eaten much lately. As for the Bilirubin, it might just be a false positive; a confirmatory test would be the smart move here.
