bluebadger12 said:So, I ended up getting a second urine analysis—just a follow-up check after that sterile urine culture—and I felt like I ought to share the results with you all. It seems only fair to keep everyone in the loop.

So, here is the deal—the color is back to normal now, and that cloudiness is finally gone. The results show only 1 Leukocyte and 3 squamous epithelial cells; everything else is completely negative. It’s actually quite unbelievable—not a trace of Bilirubin, no urose, no bacteria, nothing. Just totally clear. I honestly can't wrap my head around how a lab could make such a massive error during the first screening. I provided the samples in the exact same manner as the first time, yet this result is night and day—clean, orderly, and exactly what it should be. I can't say I'm complaining. $100 For all of that—for everything I went through—the sheer weight of it was exhausting. It truly ate at me, this constant, gnawing uncertainty... just wondering if I was actually sick. 🤷 Thanks to everyone!

And really, anything is possible—even a simple error in a urine analysis! 😉 It is entirely possible that the urine sample sat around for too long—perhaps even left in a spot where it shouldn't have been—which changes everything. And let’s not even get started on the collection process itself; if the sample wasn't obtained properly from the start, you've basically invited trouble to the party. Besides, in my estimation, urine sediment analysis can be somewhat subjective... one person's finding isn't necessarily another's reality.
But all good—the main thing is that everything looks fine with your medical report! 🙂

I had some blood drawn because of my iron levels. My iron came back at 9 (ref. 8-30) and UIBC is 48 (ref. 25-59), but my TIBC is 45* (ref. 49-75). I was wondering about that TIBC value—any idea why it might be low?

So, what does your CBC look like?

Erythrocytes are at 5.13 (ref. 3.86-5.08), erythrocyte distribution is 15.2 (9.0-15.0), and hemoglobin is 143

You were probably just a little dehydrated. Your TIBC is slightly below the limit, but honestly, that doesn't mean anything. Everything looks fine. Best regards.

Initial diagnosis: G44 Cephaleae ceterae
Requested tests: Brain MRI

Radiological findings and opinion:
During the brain MRI, using standard imaging techniques and multiple planar slices, we see normal organization of the cerebral gyri and sulci, along with a healthy ratio of gray to white matter.
The signal intensities of the brain parenchyma—both infra and supratentorial—appear physiologically normal. There are no signs of ischemia, intracranial hemorrhage, or any tumor processes.
The ventricular system is centrally located and morphologically appropriate.
Near the dorsal part of the adenohypophysis, there is a cystic formation measuring about 6-7mm—it’s recommended to follow up with a targeted exam of the pituitary-hypothalamic region... just to be safe.
No visible pathological changes were found in the parasellar region, the pontocerebellar angles, or the craniocervical junction.

Everything looks fine except for that cyst near the pituitary.

But could that cyst actually be nothing? I know cysts aren't always dangerous, but when we're talking about the brain... well, you know...

You really need to get an MRI with contrast.

Urinalysis Sediment Microscopic Exam

Leukocytes 20-25 normal 0-2
Erythrocytes 3-4 0-2
Squamous epithelial cells 2-3 0-1
Small epithelial cells 4-5 0-1
Bacteria lots 0-0

I'm wondering if this is actually okay since I'm currently breastfeeding, or if I'm looking at some kind of infection?...

Is this normal considering I'm breastfeeding, or am I looking at some kind of infection?

Maybe try asking in this thread instead Breastfeeding - tips, tricks & support...you'll likely find someone there who actually has a real answer...

Looks like an infection. You should probably call your doctor about antibiotics and getting a urine culture done.

What kind of symptoms are you having, and what prompted you to get this urine test done in the first place?

EEG

The baseline cerebral activity shows alpha frequencies in the 8-10 Hz range.
The visual block response is well-defined.
There are occasional slow high-voltage waves at 5-6 Hz, reaching up to 75 mV.
No asymmetry or paroxysmal activity was detected.
Responses to provocation methods (HV and IFS) were similar.

Conclusion: The findings are borderline and non-specific.

....... can anyone make sense of this for me?

What was the reason for getting the EEG done in the first place?

Dizziness, instability...

You really need to get in touch with a neurologist. This report isn't showing anything pathological on its own. A neurologist needs to interpret these results alongside your actual clinical neurological status—otherwise, nothing here is specific, just like in this case.

So, I’ve been diagnosed with mononucleosis. On top of my usual routine blood work, I went ahead and ordered some specific tests that I ended up waiting twenty days for—honestly, I wasn't even entirely sure what I was looking for at first. Since my follow-up appointment isn't for another ten days or so, I figured I'd reach out here to see if anyone could help me make sense of these results before then:
VIDAS EBV VCA IgM (bioMérieux) - Positive
VIDAS EBV/EA VCA IgG (bioMérieux) - Positive
VIDAS EBV EBNA IgG (bioMérieux) - Negative
Anti-CMV IgM (Abbott Architect i2000sr) - Negative
Anti-CMV IgG (Abbott Architect i200sr) - Negative

Thanks in advance! 🙂

Hello,

Here is the breakdown of your results:

1. Yes, you have infectious mononucleosis; your doctors hit the nail on the head with the diagnosis.

2. This is an acute (recent/newly developed) infection. We can tell because the antibodies against early antigens came back positive.

3. The culprit here is the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). It’s worth noting that cytomegalovirus can also cause symptoms similar to mono, but your tests for that were negative.

Your labs are essentially a textbook case of an acute EBV infection presenting as infectious mononucleosis.

Just stick to your doctor's orders: rest, stay hydrated, skip the alcohol, and so on.

Best regards. 🙂
