Hey everyone, I am honestly so thrilled with my new nose—it’s absolutely perfect!!! It turned out way better than anything I could have imagined. If I had known it wasn't such a terrifying ordeal and that the results would be this good, I would've done it years ago. I actually spent a long time planning this surgery; I went down a rabbit hole reading endless forums and articles on the subject. I was torn between Dr. Toncic and Dr. Glumicic, but in the end, I went with Glumicic, and thank God I did because he was the right choice. My advice to anyone thinking about getting a rhinoplasty is to do your homework—really dig into the doctors' credentials and obsess over their before-and-after photos. Whatever you do, do NOT get it done at a big hospital; I know two acquaintances who ended up with noses that look worse now than they did before. In my opinion, it’s a "you get what you pay for" situation, and a private practice will always go the extra mile for you. I had to pay for my procedure entirely in cash, though I heard you can set up a payment plan with Dr. Toncic. Good luck to everyone!!:-

Laura Castillo7 said:Hey Charles Cox8, would you mind posting a before photo? I really love how your nose looks now, so I'm curious what it looked like before. Thanks!

I don't have a before picture. And honestly, what am I even supposed to say... it was bigger, had this weird bump, and from the side, it just looked totally off and pointed to the right. 😁 😁 😁
It was pretty ugly, to be honest. 🙄

Has anyone actually dealt with Žgaljardić before? What’s his deal? I just sent him an email—he says he’s available for an OP between 6 PM and 8 PM $0.00. Isn't that a bit excessive???

Oh, one more thing if anyone knows—does an OP involve breaking your nose or not? Just the thought of it is giving me anxiety

Has anyone actually been to see Maletic? I’m planning an appointment with him soon—would love to hear some firsthand accounts before I go.

I have no idea if you two managed to sort out that bump following the surgery, but I certainly know why it happened. Consider this quote from Dr. Maletic: "These recurring humps indicate the procedure wasn't performed adequately. Essentially, fragments of bone and cartilage were left behind—which, combined with blood, leads to the formation of clots and connective tissue that rebuild the protrusion. In short: removing every single fragment and flushing the area with saline is the only way to prevent this. All of these steps are fundamental to the operation itself."

So, I had my nose surgery yesterday and figured I’d hop on here to share how it actually went... it was a septorhinoplasty. I rolled into the clinic around 11:00, got changed, and they gave me some sort of sedative pill pretty much right away. Then around 2:00 PM, they came to get me and wheeled me off to the OR. They put me under anesthesia—honestly, I have zero clue when I actually passed out—and then suddenly I’m just waking up in a recovery room. And honestly? I handled it way better than I expected. I woke up around 4:30 PM and immediately knew exactly where I was and what was going on. I wasn't one of those people who wakes up totally loopy and babbling nonsense, you know? I just grabbed my phone and texted my husband right away. The nurse saw I was doing fine too, but they kept me there until 7:00 PM before letting me head home. Oh, and the pain? It doesn't even hurt that much. It's just super awkward trying to breathe through it all. I slept like crap last night, though. Every time I finally drifted off, maybe ten minutes later, I’d snap awake. Just over and over. I noticed some bruising around my eyes and eyelids, too. Probably more than what I can see since I'm wrapped up in all this bandages and stuff.

How much did you end up paying for the surgery?

So, I paid Kincel $1,800... and now I’ve got this nagging question for anyone who’s actually gone through surgery before. Okay, so when I change my dressings, I can see the base of my nose—like where the nostrils start—and the whole bottom part looks kind of... tight? Like, the tip feels way too upturned, which was the one thing I explicitly told them I didn't want. Now I'm spiraling a bit, wondering if it's just the splint doing that. Like, once they finally take the mold off, will the tip drop down a bit naturally? What do you guys think??

Has anyone here actually gone through a prostatectomy, and does anyone have insight into whether the recovery issues are linked directly to the surgery itself or perhaps the anesthesia used?

Laura Castillo7 said:Has anyone here actually gone through surgery? And seriously, does smoking have anything to do with how the surgery goes or the anesthesia part?

I’m a smoker, personally, though I haven't been touching them these last few days... so yeah, you can go into surgery even if you smoke...

Did you guys feel like you had to sneeze constantly when you had those nasal tampons and bandages in?? My nose runs all the time, and man, it is so awkward. Sometimes I just can't hold it back and I just have to sneeze...

Oh, and—about the sleeping thing—why on earth do we have to sleep on our backs?? I slept on my side last night, but like, with my head propped up high and my arm tucked under me... basically, I was trying to be careful with my nose, but I stayed on my side and actually slept pretty well, unlike the night before, because sleeping on my back is honestly the worst...

Don't stress about it; it’s bound to be lifted right now. It’ll settle down eventually!

Hey everyone!

So, about two months ago, I took a nasty fall and ended up breaking my nose. I had to rush down to the ER at Mayo Clinic, where they actually reset it right there. Well, I went in for a follow-up yesterday, and apparently, things aren't healing quite right. They told me there’s some thickening where the break happened, so now they're sending me over to Dr. Racic...

I haven't actually seen him yet since it hasn't even been three months since the accident, but I was wondering if anyone here has any experience working with him? He's a chief surgeon over at Mayo Clinic...

Don't sweat it, that’s totally normal. Those medical tapes are basically holding your nose in place, and since they're probably taped right over the tip, they're pulling it upward. I went through the exact same thing. Plus, everything is still super swollen! Once they finally get that mold off, you'll see that everything is right where it's supposed to be and looking fine!

I’m currently getting everything ready for my second nose surgery. When I went under the knife the first time, my only real goal was to get rid of that bump, and honestly, they achieved that part perfectly. However, I’m still dealing with a deviated septum, and to make matters worse, this tiny little bump popped up right on the bridge of my nose just a few months after the initial procedure—and it hasn't gone away since. If it were just about the aesthetics, I probably wouldn't bother going back in for another operation, but breathing has become such a massive struggle lately, and it feels like the respiratory issues are only getting worse as time goes on. So, I wanted to reach out and ask:
Has anyone here actually gone through a revision surgery? I’ve heard whispers that the process can be quite intense and that surgeons usually have to use an "open technique" for these types of corrections.
Also, has anyone had their procedure done at Mayo Clinic? I’ve heard some really glowing reviews about their specialists, specifically that they are incredibly skilled at fixing mistakes made by private cosmetic surgeons.

What exactly is that lump made of? I don't see the point in undergoing surgery if the mass just resurfaces anyway—it seems counterproductive. Which specialist did you go to for the procedure?

Quick question for anyone who’s gone through surgery and happens to be a smoker—how long did you wait before lighting up again?? I'm assuming smoking messes with the healing process for those nasal incisions, right? Or am I just overthinking it?

By the way, could you tell me if you had to stop smoking for a few days before the procedure? I was reading that it can mess with how the anesthesia works—and frankly, I have zero desire to die on the operating table...

Has anyone else here dealt with broken capillaries on their nose—and more importantly—did you end up stuck with permanent redness or some other kind of lasting mark?
