Michael Wood9 said:I see all these big names being tossed around like Smith and Johnson... honestly, I had surgery about five years ago at the Mayo Clinic in NYC, and they did an incredible job. I was using my insurance, which was a relief because I’d actually broken that same thing three or four times before—the doctors called it internal devastation.
Even so, I ended up breaking it again later, which is just my luck. When I was staying at the Mayo Clinic, I actually had to kick the booze, the cigarettes, and even some light recreational stuff to get through it... everything was just too close for comfort.👍 ha ha ha ha

Do you remember which doctor you saw? How many days did you have to stay put, and what was the vibe like there—how were the rooms and the nursing staff?

I can't remember if I posted this here or on the beauty forum, but just wanted to let you guys know that two weeks ago (successfully 😁), I had my nose job done by Dr. Miller at Mercury. Honestly? I'm thrilled with how everything turned out. The pain was minimal—just a sharp spike right when I woke up from anesthesia, probably because they didn't give me anything for the pain immediately. It hurt like hell for a second, but the nurses jumped in with an injection and it was gone instantly. Having the packing in for five days was hands down the worst part; breathing through your mouth all night is a nightmare. My throat was killing me for the first few days, I couldn't eat properly, and I was waking up every hour just to drink water because my throat was so parched. I was counting down the minutes until they took those things out. People say removing the packing is agonizing, but for me, it was just a weird, brief discomfort. Removing the cast, however, actually hurt—the plaster stuck to my nose so badly they practically had to force it off. I thought all my misery was gone 🤣, but the moment I saw myself in the mirror, the pain just vanished 😁. I used to have this huge bump, and my nose was too big and crooked. Now? It’s perfectly straight, small, and cute—exactly what my face needed. Big thanks to Nelson for recommending doctor 😉. I couldn't be happier. Oh, and one more thing... almost zero bruising. A tiny yellow spot under my left eye cleared up in five days, and there's barely any swelling. It’s been 20 days now and it looks totally natural. The stitches are starting to fall out on their own. Now I just have to be careful not to bump it or catch it on a shirt while getting dressed. Anyway... hopefully this helps someone, because all your posts were what gave me the courage to go through with the surgery

Honestly, I am beyond thrilled with how everything turned out. The pain was pretty fleeting; the only real spike happened right when I woke up from anesthesia, apparently because they didn't get ahead of the pain management, or whatever the reason was. It was intense for a moment, but the nurses stepped in immediately with an injection, and that was that. Having those nasal tampons in for five days was, without question, the absolute worst part of the whole ordeal—mostly because breathing through your mouth all night is just miserable. My throat was incredibly sore for the first couple of days because of it, which made eating a chore, and I found myself waking up every hour just to sip water because my throat felt so parched. I was counting down the minutes until they could pull those things out. While people online tend to describe removing the tampons as excruciating, it wasn't painful for me at all; it was just a weird, uncomfortable sensation that passed quickly. However, getting the cast removed was a different story—the plaster had basically fused to my nose, and they really had to force it off. I think 🤣 took away all my misery, though once I finally caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, all the discomfort just vanished 😁. I used to have this pretty significant bump, and my nose was larger and drifted quite a bit to one side. Everything is perfectly aligned now; I have this cute, slightly upturned little nose that fits my face beautifully. A huge thanks to Nelson for recommending 😉; I couldn't be happier. If there's anything else to add... yeah, I barely even had bruising. That tiny yellow spot under my left eye cleared up after five days, and the swelling is minimal. It's been 20 days since the surgery, and it already looks like it's always been this way. The stitches have started to fall out on their own. Now, I just have to be careful not to accidentally bump it with my hand or snag it on a shirt while I'm changing. Anyway... I hope this little update helps someone out, because I know how much these threads helped me when I was still on the fence about going under the knife

Just jumping in here. It's not that I wouldn't go through with a nose job, but lately, my breasts have become the bigger concern. So, I'm reaching out to see if anyone who has undergone breast augmentation would be kind enough to walk me through the process. I'd love to know about the costs and just the general experience. Thanks, everyone.

Hey ladies. I could use some advice. Does anyone here have actual experience with breast augmentation? I’m seriously considering it, but I’m completely lost on where to go, who actually does good work, or what kind of damage I'll be doing to my bank account. I've read all the generic stuff online, but I'd much rather hear from someone who has actually gone through the whole ordeal themselves.🙄😕

You should check out the women's corner; there's a thread under "implants" with tons of stories from girls who've done it.

Well, I had surgery performed by Dr. Williams—and look, the accommodations were actually quite decent. The nurses? Truly top-tier professionals, which, I have to admit, caught me off guard given how the facility looks from the outside. It’s easily two levels above places like Mount Sinai or those clinics over in Brooklyn... I ended up staying for five days since I went in for rhinoplasty. If anyone happens to know if Williams is still practicing there, please, drop a note on the forum—I'm not local to NYC.☕

I don't look like a pig anymore😁 and they actually told me they're always worried about the tip dropping too low, so they tend to aim it a little higher just to be safe... anyway, did yours drop yet??

Unlike that pig-looking thing at the start, mine has definitely dropped—though I'm still hoping for a little more settling, I guess. I have my follow-up appointment in a week, so I'll just ask them if this is the final result or if it's still going to shift down. Honestly, my main priority was just making sure those bumps on the bridge weren't tearing up my tear ducts.

👋

Did you just go for cosmetic work, or did you have a septoplasty done too? And what was the final cost? Also, how long is the typical hospital wait time?

Honestly, I’m dying to know this too...
I’m basically stuck deciding between Mercury or the Mayo Clinic right now...
A close friend of mine had surgery done by Dr. Fauci at the Mayo Clinic, and she’s actually super happy with how it turned out, but she only had the deviation fixed.
As for me, I can't breathe through my nose to save my life—it's all mouth-breathing for me—plus I have this pretty significant bump, so I guess I'd want to just get everything handled all at once if possible.

Will they only perform cosmetic procedures at the hospital, or do they handle things like a septoplasty too?

Well, look, if you aren't actually struggling to breathe, you aren't going to be considered a candidate for insurance coverage through Blue Cross, so in my opinion, doing just the aesthetic part isn't really an option...

Look, you can totally go to the hospital for purely cosmetic work, but don't think you're getting a deal. You'll be paying just as much as you would at a private clinic...

Does anyone happen to know if it's possible to pay for surgery in installments, or is it strictly cash upfront? And more importantly, who would you all recommend for this kind of thing? 🙂

So, I've got a question... one side of my nose is always stuffed up and breathing through the other side is just a struggle. I deal with constant sinus infections and I'm allergic to pretty much everything—not sure if that matters, I guess—plus I have asthma too. Given all that, would I be able to get my surgery covered for free by Blue Cross Blue Shield? And obviously, I’d want to get some cosmetic work done while I'm at it.. 😁

Some places let you do payment plans, others don't. Maybe just wait for someone else to chime in. 😉
