Okay, I get it now... I was reading it like some kind of bacteriostatic agent that prevents infections or something along those lines...

How many days did it take you all to get that external fixation removed, and honestly, was the pain actually manageable?

It’s been seven days and I’m not feeling any pain. It was just a little uncomfortable at first because the gauze underneath had soaked through with blood and got stuck to me... When are you heading in?

So, Monday. That means we’re looking at the seventh day all over again.

Back to work on Monday... I can't sit still, honestly. Let me know how things go with that bone injury; that's my main concern right now. I'm getting some fresh air outside with Courtney, though the cold is starting to bite—maybe the chill will help clear my head faster.🙂

I finally gave in and slept flat on my back last night; I just couldn't deal with that semi-reclined position anymore—it was absolutely killing me. As for the extra swelling, nothing changed there...

So, two of my stitches just popped out from my right hip... I mean, okay, maybe I helped them along a little bit, but they’re definitely out now.😁

It looks like you guys have all gone through this already, while I’m still just sitting here waiting. I had my final consultation yesterday, and they gave me an appointment for February 3rd... ugh. I was really hoping it would be sooner, but I guess that’s not happening. Now I just have two more weeks of constant worrying ahead of me.

Hi everyone. March 2nd, 2009. I’m heading in for a consultation with Dr. PepsiCo regarding nose surgery. Please, can someone tell me—is he kind? What’s his bedside manner like? I’m honestly terrified of how he’ll react to me. Oh man, I just hope everything goes smoothly. I've been so anxious about the whole thing, but I know I need to get this done as soon as possible. Could you girls please cheer me up?

Things are actually looking pretty good now🙂 the tip has dropped a bit (though they say it’s supposed to drop even more), it’s not nearly as swollen anymore, and I can finally laugh normally without feeling weird, so I'm happy with it for now🙂 the tip is still a little puffy, but it's nothing crazy. Honestly, I'm totally fine with it staying just like this, though it does lean a tiny bit to the left... but hey, maybe that's just me noticing it...

I am truly pleased to hear this. It appears that, in the end, the majority will actually be satisfied.

Honestly, how can anyone sleep soundly? How do you actually know you won't just roll over in your sleep and break your nose?

I’m sleeping on my side right now, but my nose is still so tender to the touch that I’d probably wake up in pain the second I shifted the wrong way. Plus, I’m using one of those orthopedic pillows, which makes it pretty much impossible to actually bury my nose into it...

Just hang in there. In most cases, everything turns out fine. Plus, if you've read through all the posts from the women who've already been through this, you pretty much know what to expect... those threads were my only way to stay sane; without them, I think I would've had a heart attack both before and after the surgery.🙂So, which doctor did you end up choosing?

It’s been five days for me now. You can tell my eyes and the area under them are finally starting to look better, but the bridge of my nose is still swollen. Jerry Torres74, how are things looking on your end? What day are you on now? Are you still dealing with any swelling?

Laura Castillo7, I’ve got about four or five massive, firm pillows surrounding me. I sleep in a semi-upright position, and honestly, I couldn't fall out if I tried because I'm basically cocooned by pillows on all sides. I have to admit, this is the absolute worst part of the whole ordeal—the sleeping, the greasy hair... I’m actually terrified to even wash it yet. By the third day, I was stuck working at my computer all day just because I couldn't stand staring at the TV or lying around anymore.

It’s been 10 days for me. There's just a tiny bit of swelling. I told him that area near the root is bothering me—it feels like a little lump—but everyone keeps telling me it's totally normal. I'm not going to stress about it for now. I’ve been icing that spot two or three times every evening. I was out and about again today; I'm definitely not the type to just sit around and rest. I have some dark circles under my eyes, but a little concealer does the trick. For me, the sleep situation was honestly the worst part. Plus, I have braces, so for the first three days, I couldn't even brush my teeth properly. Not being able to stay hygienic was driving me crazy. The day before they removed the mold, I couldn't take it anymore, so I went to wash my hair. I sat in the tub, leaned my head back, and used my hand to block the water from running down my forehead. If it's really bothering you, try doing it tomorrow, but just be super careful and go slow. The main thing is making sure no water gets into that area. I don't think anything bad will happen...
