Rhinoplasty recovery: What to expect?

I couldn't help but laugh—that’s exactly what I said too. Try it the way I explained it; it worked for me... But tell me, did you use a specific strip to hold the tip of your nose in place? I didn't, but I've been reading about how the tip can drop over time. It looks great right now, but if it starts to sag, I won't be happy... Is it actually worth it if the tip sticks up too much after surgery? I mean, I guess that only happens in certain cases...

I’ve got this medical tape plastered right over the bridge of my nose—left just enough room so I can actually breathe—and get this: I have purple fixation tape 🙄. Honestly, they could have at least ordered something in a neutral skin tone, couldn't they? Or is this some calculated move because purple is "in" right now? I don't know. And does the tip always end up drooping like this? I recall one girl mentioning how much she loved her nose shape (and her surgeon insisted it wouldn't budge), but then, after a while, it started to sag, and she was absolutely devastated.

Jesse Taylor7, when did you actually sign your contract? Was it right after those initial consultations, or did you wait? And honestly, how many consultation sessions are even required before you pull the trigger?

I was at my closing in late November. They had an opening on January 20th (keeping in mind they were closed for the holidays from mid-December until about January 10th), but then someone backed out of their January 13th slot, and I jumped on it because I was in a massive rush. As for the meetings—I only went once. I assume you can go more often if you want to (you just pay $50 🙂 ), but honestly, why bother? In my opinion, there's no need. Just come prepared. Write everything down! Ask all your questions during that single session and call it a day.

Pay whatever you want. Consultations last as long as you decide they should. Mine lasted maybe ten minutes before I ran out of questions. You don't get the final agreement with the surgeon until right before the actual procedure. That’s when he recaps your previous consultations and settles the final details with you. Look, rhinoplasty isn't rocket science; there are only four or five specific things a doctor can actually do to a nose.

When I went in for my consultation, the office was packed. The appointment itself lasted about 10 minutes, and at that point, I wasn't even sure if I was going through with the surgery yet. I also had a second opinion scheduled with another doctor, so we didn't dive into every single tiny detail.
I actually liked that he felt natural—it felt more like grabbing coffee with a friend than a clinical exam. He wasn't hovering over me or acting cold, which I appreciated. Two weeks later, I just called them up to book the surgery, and that was that.

In my opinion, the most important thing is that you figure out exactly what you want before you even walk in. Know what you want to change. Maybe find a photo of a nose similar to yours, just without the part you're looking to fix. Don't stress too much about how he'll act; if you don't like his attitude, just go see someone else for a consultation and then decide.
Read through the whole thread on this topic. In most cases, things turn out fine, and you'll end up with a better nose. I know it's surgery, so there's some nerves, but don't let the fear take over. Good luck.🙂

The edges of my bandages have already started peeling up, which I guess makes sense since they've been on my nose for six days now. It’s been a bit itchy, too—even the spots tucked under the mold. Just give it a little scratch if you need to. Honestly, sometimes you just have to power through it; eventually, the itching stops on its own.
Are you feeling nervous about tomorrow? You know, the big mirror reveal?

Pepsi, thank you. I was honestly starting to spiral about that itching sensation; I was convinced it was some kind of serious inflammation. Since my job involves retouching people in Photoshop, I’ve already gone ahead and edited my own nose to see how the outcome might look—I need to be prepared. And let’s be real, I’m going to be looking a bit pig-like tomorrow, covered in all sorts of colors from purple to yellow. I am being perfectly realistic here; nothing is going to change my mind. The absolute best part of this whole ordeal? I’ll finally be able to experiment with way more hairstyles 👍 , specifically those styles I had to abandon because they didn't suit my profile.

Initially, I was leaning toward Glumičić, but I eventually moved on from that idea. Then, by total chance through a friend, I found my way to Dr. Ivkica over at Mount Sinai, and I was honestly really impressed with him (it also helped that he did an amazing job on her nose 😁 )... so, after two consultation appointments, I finally have my surgery date scheduled 👋 ..... I’ve read everything there is to read, and what’s keeping me sane is the realization that it (in most instances) isn't actually that terrifying. You deal with a little discomfort, but it's worth it in the end.....

I know deep down I’d be thrilled if I could just change my profile, 😁 but at this point, it feels like a pipe dream because my anxiety is just through the roof!

So, ladies... how long did it take for you all to finally commit? And which surgeon would you suggest? Also, is it a bad idea to aim for a summer appointment, given the heat and everything involving the swelling and molds? Thanks!
