Research like this honestly makes my skin crawl. They claim a 50% reduction in risk, but they conveniently skip over the details—was it because those men were having less sex, or is it actually just because the exposure site is less vulnerable to the virus?
Either way, would you really gamble with HIV if there was a 50% chance of catching it? Instead of fussing about circumcision for people in sub-Saharan Africa, they could have just handed out condoms, which offer over 90% protection.

So, like the title says, I'm looking for some info on where I can actually get this done. Is it going to hurt? What kind of damage am I looking at financially? Just trying to get all the little details squared away before I dive in...

You should head over to the clinic near downtown Miami. Get checked out by a urologist first, and then you can see the surgeon.

Thanks. I get pretty paranoid about doctors, but if I want to get back to having sex, I guess I don't have much of a choice... does anyone know if they can put me under or something like that?

My boyfriend actually went through with the circumcision, and honestly? I can't even try to comfort you... it’s just not fun. It hurts, and let me tell you, it is especially rough when you get an erection! We had to take a total break from sex and everything else for about 2 or 3 weeks. But hey, looking on the bright side—it looks way better now!!😬

They use local anesthesia! By the way, you definitely feel them working, but it doesn't hurt... kind of like when you're at the dentist and they give you that shot to numb everything up. It’s a little gross, I know... but just be brave!!! AND DON'T ACCIDENTALLY LOOK!!!

Well, January 9th—it's officially done!

The thing that’s actually driving me nuts, though, is that my urologist didn't exactly pull a full job on the skin. He just trimmed off the excess at the tip, which leaves me facing the actual risk of paraphimosis. Now there's a real chance I'll have to go back under the knife for a second procedure, which would basically make my junk famous for being circumcised twice. Like, seriously? Seven layers of hell.

Anyway, regarding how it actually went: the pain was absolutely brutal—beyond anything I could have imagined, both during the surgery and the recovery. Even now, things aren't exactly great. Still, if this actually does the trick and gets rid of the phimosis (and the threat of paraphimosis), then I guess it was worth it.

What really gets to me is that my urologist didn't actually finish the job on the foreskin; he just trimmed off the excess at the tip. Now I'm facing the risk of paraphimosis and the very real possibility of having to go back under the knife for a second circumcision. At this rate, my junk is going to be famous for being operated on twice. What a complete mess.

It’s a classic scenario: you show up expecting one thing, but the doctor decides they know what’s best for you and performs whatever they feel like instead. It’s honestly pathetic. Performing a different procedure than the one you specifically requested is unprofessional and constitutes substandard medical care.

ruggedjackal46 said:On a side note regarding the recovery, the pain was absolutely unbearable—not just during the actual surgery, but afterward as well—and things aren't looking much better right now. Still, if this ultimately solves my issues with phimosis (and prevents paraphimosis), then I suppose it's worth it.

You should have been under anesthesia during the procedure. If they didn't give you enough, you should have made some noise about it.
Now you’re just dealing with the consequences of thinking you needed this in the first place when you might have been fine without it. On the bright side, the pain should subside in about a week.

Well, now you’re dealing with the consequences of playing smart and thinking you could skip the local stuff, even though you probably could've managed without it. Look on the bright side: the pain should wrap up in about a week.

They did give me anesthesia. It hurt when they were administering it, and it hurt even more after the surgery once the effects started wearing off.
And honestly, I don't see how skipping the numbing agent was even an option here. If things go sideways, it won't be because I opted for the procedure itself—it'll be because the job was done sloppily.

I need some help here. My 5-year-old son has had a tight foreskin since birth—he can't retract it at all. Our pediatrician referred us to a surgeon for a procedure under general anesthesia. This kid has already been through one major surgery (unrelated to this), and honestly, I can't bear the thought of putting him through another hospital stay. Up until now, he hasn't had any issues urinating, other than a little "ballooning" effect, and he hasn't dealt with infections. However, over the last month, I've noticed some slight bloody spotting on his underwear, though we did a urine test and everything came back normal. I’ve been searching everywhere to see if anyone has done this procedure without using full general anesthesia, but it seems like that's not really an option. Can anyone offer some advice or recommend a specialist in the Miami area who has experience with this? It feels like as soon as you take a child to a surgeon, their default answer is just going to be "let's operate." From what I've read online, this kind of radical surgical approach seems much more common here than it is in the West. If anyone has gone through something similar, please let me know.By

Greetings. I had my phimosis surgery at the Mayo Clinic about a year ago, and I want to offer my sincere praise for both surgeons who performed the procedure. You receive local anesthesia in several spots; there is a slight amount of discomfort, but nothing intense. They wait for the numbness to fully kick in before they begin, and the process takes roughly 35 minutes. They use dissolvable stitches that fall out on their own. The first seven days can be quite uncomfortable because the glans becomes extremely sensitive. Regarding aftercare, you will need to clean the wound several times a day using an Acid Boricum solution, which your surgeon will prescribe. Initially, you will have follow-up appointments with your primary doctor, who, as in my case, may prescribe a specific antibiotic for preventative care.
To offer a bit of perspective and encouragement: I had my surgery on December 12, 2005, and by December 28, 2005, I was already in Budapest celebrating New Year's Eve with my college friends. I had a fantastic time, despite having a small, wounded warrior in my trousers. There is really no need to worry; this is a minor matter.
By the way, you will see how incredible sex feels about three months after the operation once you are finally able to get back into action.
It is a completely different sensation. Good luck.😈

I’m looking for someone who’s actually been through this... I had phimosis—relative, anyway—and just had the surgery five days ago. Right now, I’m heading in for dressing changes every other day, but how long does this whole routine actually last? Also, when can I expect to have a normal erection again, let alone actual sex? And please, don't give me the "ask your doctor" lecture... I know they'll just give me the textbook answer, and I'm asking you guys for the real talk. Thanks.

I suspect you’ll feel like a completely different person after about a month. Maybe even sooner, but I’m intentionally giving you the longest possible timeline just so you can have a pleasant little surprise if you realize you actually felt fine well before then. 😁 Personally, I think it takes two or three weeks for everything to really settle down—though, I don't know, I haven't undergone the procedure myself 😬

So, the doctor just told me a little bit ago... we're looking at a minimum of three weeks of 😛 pure misery... I mean, I don't know if this is actually normal, but when things settle down, it honestly looks like there’s just too much extra skin left over... ugh. Though, they did tell me everything looks fine, so I guess that’s just how it’s supposed to be?

Look, man, I’ve been through this myself, so let me give you a few pointers that might actually help. First off, don't just hand yourself over to any random butcher you find; do your homework and make sure you find someone who really knows their stuff. Secondly, it took me well over a month before things finally started feeling normal again—you know, waiting for the swelling to go down and the soreness to fade. Getting an erection was a total nightmare for a while, but believe me, I found a way to deal with it: just picture a Goalkeeper kicking a ball, the ball lands right in the middle of the field, one player heads it to another, then they pass it back and forth like that. It sounds silly, but it helps. Good luck, buddy!
P.S. After everything settled, I swear my gear grew by about an inch.🙂))

Well, I mean, if they actually go and snip that skin away, how on earth are you supposed to enjoy yourself later?

I also can't really pull my foreskin back properly—well, I mean, I can, but only when it isn't swollen, and if I try to pull the bottom part down, the head turns blue. I was wondering if there's any way to fix this without seeing a doctor? It’s just super embarrassing to tell my parents... if anyone knows anything, please help, I really need some advice
