It’s hard to pin down exactly what makes certain eras of music stick... there's just something about that specific tension between the old school grit and the newer production. Sometimes you find it, sometimes you don't. Just one of those things, I suppose...
Satyricon... always a fascinating subject to dive into...
Sepultura... such an intense legacy. It’s hard to wrap your head around how much they've shaped the landscape since those early days... just pure, raw energy.
SODOM...
The Exploited... just thinking about them... pure grit... nothing fancy... just raw, unfiltered energy that hits you right in the gut...
The Vision BLEAK...

UNLEASHED...

So... then it isn't even that bad... 🙂 You really can't go wrong with Immortal, Satyricon, Motörhead, or Ensiferum... definitely worth catching live if you get the chance. And listening to them is a must... 🙂

So, who else is actually making the trip this year?

I’ll probably just head out there for a single day. Iced Earth are headlining, and honestly, I’d travel anywhere to catch them 😁

I’d love to stay for the whole thing, but my schedule at the local community college is totally slammed during those dates 😢

I actually went back in 2006 and man, it was such a blast... it’s not even just about the lineup; it’s the whole vibe that makes me want to go back. Great music, awesome people, camping under the stars, being out in nature near the Soča river... 🙂

Our group is currently mapping out some plans, though we’ve realized we’re looking at a distance of over 300 miles, so we’re trying to piece together a more logical itinerary right now. 😁
This year, the lineup includes Tankard, Korpiklaani, and In Extremo.🙏

We took the train back about two years ago... if you can get a group of five together to grab a group ticket, it ends up being super cheap $43. Pretty decent deal if you ask me.

Of course, having your own car makes things even easier 👍

Yeah, from Washington, D.C....

So, my friend and I headed up to the ticket window, and the lady there quoted us something close to $100, just for the two of 😲 us... but then we happened to spot an even bigger crowd of metalheads hanging out at the station, so we decided to join forces with them and grab a group pass instead. Ended up costing us $43 🙂
total!

So, if more people show up, the price drops... good to know!

Me again! 😁 Nah, there isn't one, they were just talking about the Metal Melting Summit, which that guy Juras had been hyping up for a while. I actually went to the first Metal Melting Summit and even back then, half the lineup didn't show up (I think it was Paul Di'Anno and divlji jagoda), and the second one was a total disaster... such a waste of cash 😢..that's probably why Juras was pitching the next Metal Melting Summit as a freebie to try and make amends, but who knows if that'll actually happen...

And yeah, if you grab train tickets in groups of 3 or 5, it's definitely cheaper—if I remember correctly, they sell those group passes for sets of 3 or 5.
