My period started yesterday. No real cramps, which is weird because I usually feel like I'm dying. My breasts finally stopped aching, too. But today, it's just this brownish discharge. This whole cycle was super short—only 20 days. I did have fertile mucus about two weeks ago, though. Does that mean I actually ovulated, or was this just a cycle without ovulation?🤔Or maybe this isn't even a period, just some spotting?🤔
I’ve got an appointment with my OB-GYN next week, but if anyone knows anything, please tell me something to ease the anxiety. My mom had a uterine tumor and things started out looking a lot like this...

Maybe it was just a tiny cyst that popped.

I went to my OB-GYN and he barely said anything... Just did the ultrasound and an exam, now I’m stuck waiting on the Pap results. Asked him if my period would show up, but he wasn't sure. Could happen, could not.🙄My back and stomach hurt like it's coming, and today is day 28—it's never late. I had that stretchy discharge mid-cycle and thought it was ovulation, but now my doctor is saying that isn't necessarily a sign. Probably is, probably isn't.🤦
I'd probably have more answers if I'd seen Milan Vidovit instead. All he told me was that if my period does come, it won't be heavy.

It feels pretty normal to me, so I don't worry about it much. 🤷

Lately, I’ve been under a ton of stress, both at home and at work. Could that be why my period keeps pausing? Usually, the first two days are normal with some mild cramping, then on day three, it almost completely stops—just a tiny bit of spotting🤔 before turning into brown discharge on days four and five. 🤔 It doesn't happen every single month, but when it does, it definitely makes me anxious.

Just wanted to report that my period is running about 15 days late this month. I honestly can't even remember if I actually ovulated or what, because I had that brief window of PMS symptoms and then everything just passed... Now I'm feeling this weird mid-cycle cramping thing and my mood has basically gone straight down the drain, though some personal stuff is definitely making things worse.
I really needed to get to my OB-GYN to check my hormone levels, but then the whole COVID mess hit and that plan went totally out the window.
Any ideas? I don't really suspect PCOS since my cycle has always been pretty irregular anyway.
P.S. I'm not sexually active, so there's zero chance of pregnancy.

Update: she finally showed up, of course, arriving exactly one day before I was supposed to head out on vacation... Not my first rodeo with this kind of nonsense, but still... Mrs.

driftingheron97, could be anything, I guess. PCOS usually gets flagged via an American Red Cross ultrasound and hormone panels. To actually call it an endocrine issue, you’d need high androgen levels—like testosterone, free and total, androstenedione, DHEA—plus stuff like hirsutism, thinning hair, acne, insulin resistance, or a lean toward type 2 diabetes. Amenorrhea is basically missing your period for six months straight, while oligomenorrhea is just irregular cycles. You can manage it all with birth control, but those pills are linked to cancer in the ovaries, uterus, endometrium, breasts, and liver. Honestly, finding an endocrinologist or OBGYN at a place like the Mayo Clinic who actually understands the hormonal side of this might be tough. They’ll probably just run you through the wringer with tests like karyotyping if they suspect Turner syndrome. Irregularity could also be thyroid issues or just some meds you're taking. Just get the full endocrine and OBGYN workup done and decide what to do with the results. The specialist situation is pretty bad lately; if your doctor doesn't help, they might just push DHT blockers on you, which can cause cognitive deficits—basically messing with your memory. To see if you're even ovulating, try a progesterone test on day 21 of your cycle. Good luck and stay safe.

I am feeling somewhat uncertain about whether I should be concerned, but over the last few months, my cycle duration has decreased by nearly half. Previously, my period would last about five to six days, whereas now it barely lasts two or three. Additionally, the flow seems much lighter than it used to be. Has anyone else experienced something similar...

If this happened suddenly and it's staying this way, you really ought to go see a doctor at a clinic like the Mayo Clinic just to be safe.
(I mean, did anything change recently? Like, maybe a pregnancy, a miscarriage, any surgeries, high stress, a new diet, or approaching menopause?)

None of those things have happened. I suppose I am under constant stress, though I am hopefully far too young for menopause (I am 32)...

I certainly plan on going in for a checkup; I simply wanted to hear about anyone else's experiences if they have any...

Ladies, help! I need some advice. My last period started on Nov 10th—it was light for the first two days, then picked up on the third, before tapering off on the 4th, 5th, and 6th. Now, about two hours ago, I started bleeding again, and it’s heavy. Like, actual clots. This happened last month too, where my period just stopped and then restarted out of nowhere. I saw my OBGYN back then, and they put me on Duphaston. I only took it for five days because the migraines were absolutely killing me, but the bleeding eventually stopped. My period officially "started" on the 10th, though it was way lighter than usual. I honestly thought I got lucky and it was just a minor hormonal glitch, but nope. Here we go again. I just took another dose of Duphaston an hour ago hoping it might slow things down, but I'm starting to freak out a bit at how much I'm bleeding. Should I wait until Monday to see my doctor, or should I just head to the ER now?

Hello, ladies. I could use some perspective from those who have walked this path before. I gave birth at full term, and my first period since then finally showed up on November 11th. 😵 Based on how things used to run before I got pregnant, I was expecting it around the 9th of this month, but we all know that postpartum cycles rarely follow the old rules. What I’m really wondering is whether you all found your cycles returning to a predictable rhythm right away, or if anyone else experienced those frustrating months where a period just... vanishes, leaving you wondering if it’s just hormonal chaos or if you need to go buy another pregnancy test. 🤔

Lisa Edwards5 said:What I'm really trying to figure out is whether everyone's periods came back normally after giving birth, or if anyone experienced those "skipped" months where you aren't actually pregnant. 🤔

After my first kid, my period showed up after about 10 months—pretty standard 30-day cycles from there on out. After the second one, though, the first one didn't show up for 7 months, and then for the next three cycles, they were coming every other month. Now, the last two have been totally unpredictable. In both cases, the kids were still breastfeeding or just starting to wean.
There isn't some grand rulebook for this. If you're late and there's even a remote chance you could be pregnant, just take a test and stop stressing. If you're late but you feel fine—and let's face it, you probably haven't even had the time or energy for sex—just ignore it, and when it finally decides to show up, it shows up. But, if you're late and you're dealing with actual issues—pain, weird discharge, whatever—then go see a doctor to make sure everything is functioning the way it should be.

Has anyone here actually tried taking Tranexamic acid tablets to help manage heavy periods?

Hey there. I've been having periods for about 8 years now. For the last 4 years, I've dealt with breast pain right before my cycle starts—pretty standard stuff, right? But today is actually day one, and my breasts still hurt. Is this something I should be worried about or what?

Hi there,

So, I’ve been dealing with this constant bleeding—or maybe it's more of a brownish discharge, or sometimes it looks like a really light period—for about 15 days now since I ovulated, and honestly, it feels different every single day.

It all kicked off with some brown spotting right around the time I was ovulating, so I just assumed it was some weird periovulatory thing, you know? But then this "period" just won't quit...

At first, it was just minor spotting, so I figured it would pass, but then one day I felt like I actually started my period again—my stomach was cramping pretty bad, and the blood was bright red, just like a real period, though it wasn't super heavy... then after five or six days, it felt like I started "bleeding" all over again—stomach pains and everything—and now it's been going on for seven days straight.

In total, I've been bleeding for 17 days, if you count the brown discharge, the little breaks where it stops, and the actual bleeding episodes.

I see some people mentioning ovarian cysts online, so I guess, is it possible that a cyst actually ruptured?

The only thing I've really changed lately is that I started taking black seed oil, because I heard it's supposed to be good for cysts, so I can't help but wonder if maybe that somehow triggered a cyst to burst?

Look, you seriously need to call your OBGYN, just don't freak out too much because it doesn't automatically mean something is dangerous.
