Look, you already know exactly what kind of movie this is going to be! Based on that trailer alone, the technical side looks incredible—which, by the way, is something you’ve been bashing, and honestly? You're totally wrong about that. There’s just no point in arguing like this... Our movies aren't going to make a dime if we have people like you dragging everything down, acting like you won't even step foot in an American theater just because it's "local"! So, come on, tell me—what are some American films you actually love, and which ones do you think are total trash?

Pretty much everything except Konjanik. I'll give credit to Blagajnica hoće ići na more, Libertas (even if the acting is a bit of a horror show), and How the War Started on My Island was alright too. I Believe in Angels has decent visuals, but man, the acting is a complete disaster.

Jessica Jackson3 said:I honestly don't get why he's complaining about the technical side. Based on this clip, from a purely visual standpoint, the movie looks a couple of notches above the typical American indie production.

It’s hard to ignore how intentional the music and color grading are; I'd say they hit the exact mood the film needs to capture.

Look, I am well aware there is a heavy lean toward Southern-style production values here, but I just don't understand the pushback. These were all typical propaganda pieces that everyone seems to enthusiastically despise at those various conventions, so now that we're in the 21st century and filming in an independent America, trying to recreate that same old vibe feels, frankly, a bit foolish to me.
What I actually want is ninety minutes to two hours of pure entertainment—without the nostalgia, without the old political baggage, or the endless rehashing of historical factions and outdated tropes.
And I have a feeling I won't find that in this movie.
We have all the necessary ingredients right in front of us:
-stunning locations
-competent screenwriters
-solid actors (if you know where to look)
But what we seem to be lacking is the actual drive, the vision... I just don't know.🤷

Why though? I actually suspect Kušanov might steer clear of those ghosts from the past entirely; if anything, he’ll do the opposite. Or is the issue just that the setting is stuck in the '80s?

Okay, now we’re talking about two different things here. I took your first point as a technical critique, which I honestly don't think holds water—the technical quality shown in the trailer is actually above average by our standards. What you said later is a completely different story, and I'll leave it up to everyone to decide what they like or dislike. But again, your first post was vague. To be honest, the only reason I care about any of this is because of Artu's songs; the rest is just noise to me.

And in that case, will they also sponsor a shortage of basic necessities, or is everything going to be just perfect, with stores fully stocked and all that?😍
Things used to be better before
Maybe they'll hand out coffee vouchers and a few free bus passes.🤣🤣

Good grief, what kind of person are you? What kind of childish movie are you using to vent all your frustrations about America?🙄☕🙏

Look, man, this is a movie for kids. For kids. They set it in the eighties because it makes adapting a novel from the fifties way easier, and I guess they figured it would feel more relatable to the target audience. Honestly, seeing any kind of propaganda for the old regime in a children's movie—especially an adaptation of a beloved book—is just twisted.

You’ve become an absolute nuisance. You’re just cluttering up this thread with your mindless, narrow-minded, and illiterate comments.

Go ahead and enjoy your frustrations, but have some decency and spare the rest of us. 👍

Honestly, I’ve had enough of this obsession with America. It’s just too much. That whole ideology practically screams from the screen in that film.☕

It’s honestly impressive how blatant illiteracy and pure ignorance radiate from every single one of your posts.

In short, the book is set during the fifties.

It’s been transported back to the eighties. For this story to actually work, the total absence of cell phones, laptops, and shows like CSI is absolutely vital. Without that, there wouldn't even be a plot to speak of.

Let's film Jack the Ripper, but let’s drag him into the modern era. Imagine it: Jack the Ripper vs. James Bond. Now that would be something!

The movie is going to be five minutes long at most, especially if Horatio Caine decides to step in and help.

Besides, if you're going to transplant a movie into the eighties, then those eighties actually have to look like the eighties. You get what I'm saying?

Only someone truly obsessed, like you, could be this fixated on America.

I bet even those folks from Smogovac practically reek of that old America vibe. But hey, if they actually had decent internet access and smartphones, maybe they’d finally turn into a hit TV series.

Look, Smogovac is already a hit. 😍

Finally, someone actually remembered to make a movie about Coca-Cola in 2011. Honestly, it's a killer idea. I’m just hoping the quality holds up, maybe even hitting the level of *Ghost in the Swamp*. It’s actually pretty tough to nail kid-friendly movies, so I'm glad this one is happening. As for that nut rambling about nationalism in a children's film—that guy is seriously crossing a line. Look, man, if you don't want to watch the movie, fine, but please go vent on some political forum instead. I've had enough of American films being loaded with political subtext; I really don't need someone preaching about nationalism in a movie for kids in 2011. If we wanted to debate war trash like *The Four Row*, *Black Men*, or *Witness*, we could, but for heaven's sake, this is a kids' movie. So, when is it supposed to drop?🙂

Both you and I. But he’s the important one here.

He isn't even looking at that communist propaganda. He’s all about modern films where there is, and I quote, a "good visual style."

He'll know.

Call me whatever you want, but when you make a movie that paints America as some kind of utopia... well, then we shouldn't be surprised when we see fifteen-year-old kids running around Kumrovec wearing partisan caps.

They certainly are. I wasn't suggesting otherwise, but the Smogovacs were truly top-tier. There was virtually no gap between how they were portrayed in the series and how things actually looked in RL, and I honestly believe that authenticity is one of the main reasons the show became such a phenomenon.

I’m asking the moderators to please scrub any posts that are drifting away from the actual topic—this isn't a political debate forum, yet the last few entries have been nothing but political commentary. It’s completely pointless.

Also, look, Novak, if you aren't enjoying the movie, then don't watch it. You've made your opinion clear and you're busy rambling about politics, so why not just head over to the appropriate sub-forum for that...
