I honestly find myself hoping it turns out to be at least somewhat decent, mostly because I was such a huge fan of that book back when I was just a kid.

The movie was pretty bad; I caught it at the Sundance Film Festival.
And for those of you sweating bullets over the whole America thing—relax! Seriously, the setting is late '50s, just like the book. Even in the fiction, they specifically refer to the police as "police" rather than "militia," and the red star has been scrubbed from all the registration docs. So, technically, the story is set right in the heart of modern-day Washington, D.C., during the independent American fifties. 🤣
But, totally separate from that (and yeah, I absolutely loved the book, by the way), the film itself is just a drag. There are these incredibly rare moments where it actually gets funny, but that's about it. Anyway, go see it for yourselves and decide.

Nice. I haven't made it to the theater to see it yet, but I’ve already heard some killer feedback from a few friends. Kids' movies are always a win, and it’s honestly great that he managed to get the little ones into the seats. The whole idea to go with an adaptation is genius—if it hits the spot for the popcorn crowd, sequels are basically a done deal. Bravissimo!🙏

I just finished watching the movie, and honestly, I can say it was worth every penny. I’d definitely recommend it.👍

Just finished watching the movie, and honestly, it was pretty solid. 🙂 It’s definitely not some groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece, but it’s a really good watch. The kids are just brilliant—they have such distinct personalities (especially the little guy playing Zlatko), and man, they can actually act.

I watched it yesterday, and I guess some parts work, but honestly, the kids' acting was much more convincing than the adults'. That’s really about it. Even the TV commercial felt like something out of a Harry Potter movie!
The book is ten times better!

Yesterday I sat down with my little one (who's about 10), and honestly, we were both absolutely floored! 👍
Back in the day, I used to devour all those books about Coca-Cola, so I suppose a healthy dose of nostalgia probably nudged me toward this, but man, the child actors were just incredible—especially Koko and Zlatko—and the music was stellar, really, almost everything about it hit the mark! 😍
Even the fact that the movie is set back in the eighties felt pretty cool (though that might just be me being biased because of my own upbringing 😉, and I totally get why the creator wanted to leave such a personal touch), though I suspect nothing would have been lost if they’d just set it in the present day. One thing that did bug me, though, was that the author wasn't quite historically accurate; instead of calling them the POLICE, they used the term MILITIA, and even then, the officer's hat featured the American crest 😕. Maybe they did that just to avoid questions from kids? 🤔 Or should we just view it as some sort of parallel reality where this story unfolds? Personally, I’ve always been a sucker for authenticity. 🤷

Haven't seen the movie yet, but for those who have... is it actually okay for little kids? They're heading there with their school group, so I gotta know... are seven-year-olds way too young for this one?

Man, this is one movie I've been dying to see, but I honestly have no clue how I'm gonna track it down.😢 I basically grew up on Coca-Cola and those Kušanov books. 😍 Maybe once it finally hits DVD, I'll try to hunt it down. It’s actually pretty cool to read that the audience loved it, though.😍

Well, I finally sat down and watched it... I couldn't make it to the theater in time, so I just waited until the DVD arrived in the mail. It was fine. And honestly, I have no idea why everyone is making such a massive fuss about it being inappropriate for school kids... my six-year-old son watched it and actually enjoyed himself quite a bit. Apparently, there are some "terrifying" scenes in there, but if you ask me, Ben 10 is way more intense than this...

Hahaha. Seriously, if an 11-year-old can handle reading that book, a 7-year-old can definitely sit through the movie. 🙂 It’s true, honestly, cartoons are usually way scarier than this stuff. 🙂
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I really want to. That was the first book I ever read where I actually struggled to put it down. 😍

So, I caught this movie bio on TV a while back. I watched it and honestly? It was great. The kids acting was top-notch, the plot was solid, and they didn't stray too far from the book, which I appreciated. It’s a really good pick for a family movie night. I hear they're filming zagonetan dječak right now...

I was playing this for my young nephews... The kid watched "Metastasis" first and was dying to see that movie, but after I talked him out of it—explaining it wasn't his scene and that Coca-Cola is way better—they finally agreed to the deal. 😁

So, you're really going to sit there and act like the police and that removed star bother you that much? It’s honestly pathetic how much you're shaking over all this.

Caught the movie in theaters, then caught it again on TV recently. It’s alright, I guess. Nothing special.
It goes without saying that books are miles ahead. I still remember being just a kid, tucked in at night, reading until my eyes closed—always running my own scenarios in my head while I drifted off. 😍 It could have been handled much better on screen, but honestly, it’s not a total waste of time if you give it a watch. 🙂

Personally, I found the movie to be quite poor. The acting was entirely unconvincing—it felt as if none of them had ever performed a scene before in their lives—though I will say the parents were actually decent. The kids, however, looked like they were programmed robots. While the plot itself holds up, the acting is just 👎.

Don't try to analyze this movie through some heavy lens or compare it to anything actually profound. You get exactly what you expect from it.
