I wonder if anyone might be able to shed some light on what happened here? I can't seem to see any of those little icons next to the thread titles anymore—you know, the ones that indicate new posts. It’s making it quite difficult to navigate the forum. I've tried tweaking all the various options available, but nothing seems to work. To make matters worse, there's this color selection box sitting in the reply area that I just can't get rid of, and my wide selection of emoticons has completely vanished. I'm honestly at a bit of a loss as to what went wrong...

Try clicking on various options
, then under Thread Display Options, make sure you have all three boxes checked for

*show Avatars
*Show Images (including attached images and images in (image)

Hey, can someone walk me through this? I grabbed this movie in MPEG-4 format and tried burning it onto a DVD, but when I pop it into my DVD player, nothing happens—it won't even recognize the disc. Is there some kind of program out there that can convert MPEG-4 into a different video format that actually works? Thanks in advance!

Look, this sub-forum is really intended for technical help regarding the forum itself, but fine...

Basically, your player probably just doesn't support that specific format, which is why it's failing to read the disc. You can definitely convert it to a different format using a converter—just search for something like an "MP4 to MPEG converter."
Just hit up Google; you'll find what you need pretty quickly. Converting the file is actually a pretty straightforward process.

lonepanther4 said:You’ve got two ways this could go.

1) Look, just a heads-up: after you're done messing around on the forum, make sure you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the index page and hit that logout link. Seriously, do it. If you don't, your sister could hop on and log into your account right under your nose—or she might just end up using her own. Just be smart about it. remember meAnd once you're done with it, just log out. Simple as that.

2) Just set up multiple user accounts on your PC. That way, you can cycle through them indefinitely without ever running out of steam. remember me I don't see any reason to worry about someone hijacking an account or posting under someone else's name on this forum. It seems pretty secure to me. Plus, my sister hops on here to post every now and then, so I just set this up for her. 😉

I'm looking at section 2) here. Can someone walk me through this? My sister is also a member of this forum, and because of her, I couldn't even sign up using our shared email address—I had to go through Yahoo instead. There’s no way we can both be using the exact same one, right? It makes things such a headache. And if we decide to just make multiple user accounts, does that mean we need a bunch of different email addresses, or...?

So, I’ve got a question regarding Private Messages. Looking at the Forum Rules—specifically the section detailing what the moderation team is allowed to do—it says they have the authority to delete both incoming and outgoing PMs. I saw a debate going on earlier about whether the mods actually read our private messages. Someone mentioned that despite what people think, they don't actually go snooping through them. So, here’s my thing: do they actually read them or not? And if they do have the power, why on earth would they bother deleting a user's messages when they're supposed to be private?

My sister is also a member of this forum, and because of her, I couldn't register using our family email address—I had to use Yahoo instead. It isn't possible for both of us to use the same one, right? It makes things quite complicated. And does setting up multiple user accounts imply needing separate email addresses or...?

I suspect Prokleta was referring to creating different user profiles on Windows, where each of you would have your own profile to select when booting up Wins, allowing you to check the remember me box when logging into the forum. Naturally, since the system only permits one registration per email address, you'll still need to sign up separately. 🙂
I also have a question regarding Private Messages. Under the Rules, specifically the part detailing what the forum administration can do, it mentions they have the authority to delete sent and received private messages. I saw a discussion about whether the staff actually reads PMs, and someone mentioned that despite how it looks, they don't. So, do they read them or not, and what would be the reason for deleting a user's private messages?

I might step in to delete messages that serve as advertisements—like someone promoting another forum, for instance—if a complaint is filed. As for reading them, I wouldn't say that's really something we do. 🤷

Anyway, cheers. 😉

I’ve got a quick question. I’m sure this has been covered somewhere already, but with all the rules and guidelines on this forum, I’m honestly losing my way. 🙂
How do I actually put someone on ignore? And what does that actually accomplish?
Does it mean they can't send me PMs and I won't see their posts anymore?
Is there anything else they get limited by?
Thanks in advance for the help.🙂

I finally figured out how to put someone on Ignore... and it’s working perfectly. Their posts have completely vanished from my view.🙂
Now I'm wondering... can that person still see my posts, or am I invisible to them too?🤷

I can wipe out posts that are basically just spam (like someone trying to plug another forum...) if someone actually complains. As for reading private messages? I honestly don't know. I'm pretty sure that's not how things work here. 🤷

Anyway, cheers. 😉
Thanks a lot, lupus_est!
😘

The editorial team isn't willing to give a straight answer regarding reading PMs. 🙂
Interesting.

Maybe take a closer look at the date when the editorial board was debating whether or not to read the PM's messages... it might give you some much-needed clarity. 😉

Why is it that when I click my own handle, the "view more posts from..." option doesn't work right? It’s like it won't show me everything since I first joined the forum. 🤷

It’s just because the search tool only pulls up the last 300 posts—doesn't even matter whose stuff you're looking for. 🙂

So does that mean there's zero way to see all my posts, or am I just missing some other setting somewhere?😕

That’s not exactly right.
When you're using the search tool, just make sure to specify exactly which PDF—or which specific section of a PDF—you want the results to pull from under the "search in forum" option.
Theoretically, you’d have much better visibility. If you’ve been posting under all those PDFs, you can just add them up and multiply by 300 to figure out exactly how many posts will be listed. The only real catch is that you’ll have to deal with a 60-second wait every single time you run a search, which is honestly such a pain. 😍

Yeah, obviously there’s another way to search—I just didn't bring it up because of that specific gap you pointed out. 🙂
feralmason34, if you try using the "search in forum" option in the advanced search, you might dig up some extra posts, though it still caps at 300 per sub-forum, I guess.

Hey there.

As far as I know, they're capped at 60x60.
