Kate Castillo55 said:I don't want to clutter things up by starting a whole new thread, but I have a quick question... when I check out someone's profile, there's this section next to their info called "recommendations." What's the deal with that?

Basically, it happens when a new user signs up and enters your username during the registration process. It’s just a way for them to list who referred a friend (for example) to this forum.

But honestly, those recommendations don't really mean anything on this site.

Given that you registered back on September 27, 2009β€”honestly, that was ages agoβ€”I would suggest just starting fresh with a new account. You don't have much worth saving here anyway, aside from your posts. 🀷

If you aren't interested in that, then go ahead and read this and this.

I'm only saying it once... πŸ˜‰

You could always reach out to an admin to ask for a change, but just keep in mind they probably won't do anything too drastic...

Nick can be changed if it’s purely for aesthetic reasons.

How does one go about writing about religion?

I am the thread starter here, and frankly, some of the contributions are becoming quite distasteful
Could I go ahead and delete their postsβ€”and if so, what's the procedure?
Also, is there a way for me to ban them from this thread entirely, and how would I manage that?

I should be able to just wipe their posts, right?
Or maybe I can just ban them from the discussion entirely...

Look, you don't "own" a thread. This whole site belongs to Reddit.

You don't have the authority to delete anyone else's comments.

And you definitely can't ban people from a thread. πŸ™‚

Though, looking at how things are going, it seems to me you're just πŸ™‚

Actually, no; those specific privileges are reserved exclusively for our moderators, super-moderators, and administrators.

You can't do that yourself, but you can always shoot a DM to the Moderator of that specific subforum. Just ask them to scrub any posts that are clearly just trolling, spamming, or going completely off-topic.

Thanks so much for this!
Sophia Castillo35 said:Okay, look, I get asked the same stuff constantly. Honestly, I'm feeling pretty lazy today 😬 and I really don't want to explain the same thing five times, so I just put together this quick guide. From now on, if anyone asks, expect me to just drop a link to this! πŸ₯³

How do I make text bold?
Type: text you want to bold
Result: text you want to bold

How do I use italics?
Type: text you want to italicize
Result: text you want to italicize

How do I underline text?
Type: text you want to underline
Result: text you want to underline

How do I change the font size?
Type: text you want to shrink
Result: text you want to shrink

Using "1" makes it smaller, "2" keeps it normal, and anything else makes it bigger. πŸ™‚

How do I change the font color?
Type: text you want to color
Result: text you want to color

Instead of using colors like red, you can just type blue, yellow, green, pink, purple, violet, brown, white... Or, you can use those fancy HTML hex codes. They look like this: #993399β€”each one starts with a hash followed by a mix of 6 letters/numbers. You can find a ton of options on this link; just pick a color you like and swap its code in where the color name goes. πŸ™‚

How do I quote someone?
Type:
the text you're quoting

Result:
You'll have to manually write the name of the person you're quoting before the quote itself. When you hit the automatic "quote" button at the end of a post, the forum generates a quote like this:
Username said:the text you're quoting

The actual structure looks like this:
You can mimic it if you want, or just mention who said it right before the quote.

How do I include an email address?
Type: My email address
Result: My email address
When you format it this way, clicking it will immediately open the user's default mail app with the recipient's address already filled in. Of course, you can also just write it out normally like any other text.

How do you write a link with a name?
Just write: Page Name
And you get: Page Name

Is there any way (and if so, how) to wipe my:

fadedrider12 said:is there any way (and how) to delete my own:
1.thread

Not on this forum. While vBulletin software technically allows you to wipe your own threads by hitting EDIT then Delete on the initial post, that only works if the setting is toggled on in the ACPβ€”which, on most sites, just isn't the case. πŸ™‚
3.post

Yes, you can delete your own posts, provided you select Edit then Delete. Just keep in mind you generally have a 90-minute window after posting before the editing privileges expire. πŸ™‚

Note: Some subforums don't allow you to delete posts at all (for instance, things like Romance, erotica, or Sex). It’s likely because the option was disabled in the Admin CP, though the specific reasoning behind that remains a mystery to me. 🀷

Anyway, take care. πŸ˜‰

Hey, can someone tell me how I can quickly see which threads I've already commented on? I'm tired of having to scroll through everything all over again. Thanks! πŸ™‚

Clearly I'm in the wrong place... take my post or don't, whatever... I'm dealing with some serious health issues right now. Being on corticosteroids has caused me to pack on a massive amount of weight... like, tons. I'm a single mom raising two boys on my own... please, if anyone out there has any clothes they don't need, I'm looking for bottoms size 16 and tops size 12

Thanks in advance

I don't want to start yet another thread here, but I have a quick question πŸ™‚
I noticed that some people on the forum get a yellow card while others get a red one... what exactly is the difference between them?

A yellow card is basically just a warning; it doesn't actually affect your standing or points.
Red cards, obviously, carry a penalty of 10 points or more.

Red cards, naturally, carry a weight of ten points or more.

You could always implement a custom red card, maybe something carrying just a single point. πŸ˜‰
