I honestly die of boredom every time I listen to them. Fors. Dummy actually has some great stuff—a few really well-produced, original tracks in there. It’s just a shame they couldn't pull it all together into something more cohesive and easy to listen to.

Exactly! Look, it’s a far cry from my usual rotation, but honestly, I’d be a total fool if I just stuck to one single genre! 🙂 I mean, if it lands in my hands, I'm giving it a spin—even Portishead! 😉 You might skip Massive Attack sometimes, sure, but you still leave them in the playlist occasionally, right? 😉

honestly, I'm just not really feeling them anymore. they used to be great—super smooth, hit all the right notes. but time moves on, you find better, more lush music... so why even bother wasting time on...

Just so you don't end up searching for 😁

I didn't join in, but it actually surprised me that music can still spark a decent conversation.

Exactly... back when that genre was actually huge, people listened, but not since then.

What an absolute load of nonsense!!! Look, if you actually enjoy something, you listen to it when the mood strikes—purely because you feel like it, period. It doesn't matter if it’s right this second or ten years from now. You don't just sit there waiting for a song to be "trendy" or "in the zeitgeist" just to satisfy some fleeting vibe... and then never touch it again. That's just ridiculous.

Give me a break with the pseudo-philosophy. If you're going to join the debate, at least be constructive.

For the third time, in three different ways: there are way better trip-hop artists out there than Portishead.

Hey everyone—I don't want to get bogged down reading through this entire thread right now, but I'm not sure if anyone else has brought them up yet—you absolutely have to check out THE Baby NAMBOOS 👍

Seriously, quit the pseudo-intellectual waxing—and let’s be honest, it’s pretty mindless stuff. If you actually want to join this conversation, try being constructive for once.

So, go ahead, please—walk me through exactly why my take is so "stupid." 😕
I just don't get how you listen to music, and honestly, that's where the disconnect ends.

So, that's exactly what a "mood" is. Essentially, you two are saying the same thing.😁

Look, it's all subjective, right?
But honestly, Portishead is easily one of the greats—not just because of the production quality, but because they were basically one of the pioneers who shook up the entire music scene back then and paved the way for everyone else...

Just curious though, purely out of interest—which artists are we talking about here? I don't want to go on a random rabbit hole without knowing what to look for, so give me some names so I can actually grab them and give them a listen...

Massive Attack is basically in a league of their own

Does anyone else know of any other groups out there pulling off that specific sound?

Red Snapper. They’ve got killer vocals (an M.C. who wasn't really feeling the vibe 😁) and Josh's bass is just better

Anyway, I'm heading off to download this right now... thanks!
