thanks so much...
I ended up going to the ER in the end... I didn't pay for any prescriptions or my copay... they didn't even ask if I had supplemental insurance...
I just had to pay this tiny little amount at the pharmacy, which honestly really surprised me...

Well, that’s exactly what I told you, actually 🙂 — the ER is basically the law at this point. Honestly, I’ve even started considering heading there more often than my own primary care physician; I just show up and linger until her shift ends, so...🙂

I suppose my question belongs here, but if not, no big deal.
I have some upcoming travel planned to: Amsterdam and Dubai
I take several medications that fall under controlled substance lists, such as Xanax and Zoloft...
I was wondering who provides certified translations of medical documentation to ensure I can pass through customs without any issues. I think I might need at least an English and Arabic translation, just in case I run into someone who isn't fluent in English. Thanks.

Just wondering... can anyone else besides my primary doctor get access to my medical records? Thanks in advance!

Technically, no one should be accessing them, but my doctor explicitly mentioned that personnel at Medicare occasionally review files for certain audits—though I can't recall the specific details of what they were checking. ☕

I have a quick question about cardiac X-rays... I've heard that at some hospitals you don't even need an appointment, so does that apply everywhere or is it more of a case-by-case thing depending on the hospital?

Honestly, just hit up the hospital websites. Most of them—if not all—have their own pages where you can dig up that info. I went to General Hospital for an EKG about four months ago. Didn't even need an appointment, and I was out of there IMMEDIATELY. Not sure if that's the standard or if I just caught a lucky break and nobody was in line ahead of me, who knows? 😁

At the Heart Clinic on Drašković Street, you'll get an EKG the same day, but if you actually need to see a cardiologist, then yeah, there's a wait.

My take? It’s the same across the board.

Thanks for all the input... I don't actually need a full cardiology consult, just an EKG. Specifically, I was looking at Holy Spirit since it's closest to me. I checked their website for waiting lists regarding exams and surgeries, but there’s nothing listed for EKGs, which makes me think there's no wait 🙂

I checked their website for the waiting lists regarding various exams and surgeries... and there isn't a single mention of a waitlist for EKGs. Does that mean there's zero wait time? 🙂

Could you specify which hospital? You don't even need an appointment at Holy Spirit.

I need to have some bloodwork done (KCC), and I’m trying to figure out the standard rates at private labs. Specifically, I’m looking for facilities that accept Medicare if I happen to get a referral from my gynecologist. I'd prefer somewhere in the downtown area or around the Mihaljevac-Miramarska district.
Perhaps this is an unseemly inquiry, but Google has proven to be remarkably unhelpful in this matter.

I have a quick question
I’ve just hit 18, which means I'll be turning 19 in about 3 or 4 months
Since I’m still in school—I've got about 4 years left here—
Do I actually need to worry about getting supplemental insurance or some specific coverage? I'm still finishing up my schooling and eventually planning on heading off to college, so I'm wondering what kind of paperwork I should be looking into or getting sorted out right now.
Thanks

Does anyone know where I can get an ELISA test for EBV done in Washington, D.C.? Like, which microbiology lab handles that...
I’m not actually from around here, so I’m totally lost. Thanks!

Greetings!
I’m 18 years old and still finishing up high school. I was wondering if anyone could walk me through exactly what documentation I need to gather to qualify for supplemental insurance coverage?

I'm assuming you're talking about supplemental coverage through Medicare..

Check out this link here

You just submit the request along with the required paperwork, and the supplemental part is covered by the federal budget.

Maybe this isn't the best place to ask, but Google isn't giving me anything useful.

If you just type "biochemical laboratory" into Google, a whole bunch of options will pop up. You can pick whichever one looks good to you; most of them post their price lists online.😁

I’m about to start some lifelong hormone therapy. It involves injections every few weeks—usually every two or three. I’m planning to work abroad for a year on a ship later on, though I have no idea what their medical access will be like. I’ll need a "stash" of these hormones to manage my doses while away. Is there any way to make that happen... maybe through a specific prescription or something?

Hey there

I just moved to Washington, D.C. and I am completely lost. I need to get some bloodwork done—specifically testing for copper and ceruloplasmin levels—but I have zero clue where to go.

Can anyone help me out? Where can I actually get blood drawn and what are the hours? I’m assuming any local hospital would take me, but honestly, where is the best place to go?

Thanks

They definitely handle that at Mercy Hospital and Rebro Hospital. I'm not 100% sure if you need an appointment, though I'd bet you do for Rebro Hospital. You can find the lab phone numbers online, so just give them a call and ask.
