I didn't even realize it was an option 😵 And honestly, I wouldn't have bothered moving my files all the way to NYC just for that. I would have done it for a dentist, sure, but for a GP or a gynecologist? Not likely...

But it seems like it doesn't even exist anymore, at least according to some articles I found online, like this one from December 15, 2011.
At any rate, it certainly isn't available in one place anymore...

I couldn't find anything specific about this in the existing threads, so I figured I'd just throw it out here and see if anyone knows anything about this "Medolight" device—the one that uses light therapy... Apparently, it operates on red and infrared light waves and is supposed to help with prevention, healing, and supposedly balancing out your body's energy levels... Does anyone actually have any hands-on experience with it, or is it just more of that pseudo-science stuff that doesn't really work?

Hey everyone... so I need to head to a radiologist to get some X-rays on my hips. I'm trying to figure out where I can actually get this done—I did a little digging on Google but couldn't find anything super clear. My first thought was to try the Health Center over on Albahari Street, so I was wondering if they take walk-ins or if I can just show up there. I tried giving them a ring, but I couldn't get anyone to pick up the phone. 😢

Any advice would be amazing because I really need to get this sorted out ASAP. Thanks a million! 😉

You can get an RTG scan done at any radiology department—it doesn't really matter if you visit a local Health Center or a major hospital.
Some places require you to schedule an appointment in advance while others allow walk-ins—so, why not just give them a quick call before you head out?

Hey everyone, I need to pick up some Modafinil (it goes by a few different names too—Modalert, Vigil, Modavigil, Provigil, etc.) in 100mg doses.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to get this? I'm looking for reliable sites, and if I end up using a vendor based in the United States, does anyone know how the process works for sending over a "prescription"?

I really need to get this sorted out quickly.

Whoever recommended that medication should have also written you a private prescription.
The FDA grants import permission specifically for a patient, provided there isn't some legal reason why that particular drug is restricted from being brought in that way.
I’m honestly not sure how you’ll navigate the customs headache if you just try to buy meds from a random website.
My gut tells me Vigil won't even pass muster with the Agency!

Does anyone know roughly how long the wait is for a hand ultrasound if I use my insurance?
I’ve actually been to this hospital before for an ultrasound and some therapy, but I really need to get another scan done for a follow-up because my condition has gotten so much worse lately... I'm honestly torn on whether I should just bite the bullet and go private to skip the wait.

Just getting back online here, so I don't want to go digging through old threads. It’s been about two years now since I started paying for my supplemental insurance. Does the coverage just roll over automatically, or am I going to have to file a whole new application? I originally set this up back on February 24, 2010.

Your supplemental insurance contract through the Social Security Administration automatically renews unless you submit a written request to cancel it—apparently about 60 days before the expiration date. You should probably call the SSA directly to confirm, because if that's the rule, you might have already missed the window. On top of that, there are other private insurance companies where you sign contracts for two or three years, depending on which provider you go with.

Anyone know where I can get an insulin resistance test done? Like, how does it work if I'm using my insurance, and what's the damage if I just pay out of pocket? Any info helps, thanks. 🙂

Your referral needs to specifically state OGTT + insulin twice.
You can head over to the Mayo Clinic, SK Vuk Vrhovac, or Johns Hopkins Hospital.

If I already started a prescription and finished the bottle early, is there any way to get a refill even if the doctor only authorized one box? Does anyone know a pharmacy around here that might actually go along with that?

Are you talking about an electronic prescription? You can't just go back and claim it again. Unless you have a physical paper script—where you'd be paying out of pocket—you're generally stuck once it's been filled.

Yes, an e-prescription. Thank you.

So, I’m scheduled for blood work tomorrow and they need a urine sample too, but my period just started right on cue.
I know having my period shouldn't mess with the blood tests, but what about the urine sample?!
I really need some advice here—I'm honestly at a loss for what to do, and these tests are urgent!! 😕

To whom it may concern,

A menstrual cycle can skew urine test results. It’s generally advised to postpone sample collection until the period has passed, if your schedule allows. You should probably mention this to the lab technician when you arrive, and definitely tell your doctor once the results come in. Otherwise, they might misinterpret what they're seeing.

Nicholas Myers already sorted you out, and honestly, from what I've seen, you should probably just wait until your period is over.

I ended up in the ER once where they were pulling my blood and some intern was asking for a urine sample—even after I told him I was on my period. So, I gave it to them, obviously, but when the nurse saw the sample was full of blood, she basically told me I shouldn't have even bothered if I was menstruating.

I don't follow. Can't you just clean up thoroughly with soap and water and then provide a urine sample? If they're only looking for blood presence rather than specific chemical levels, why bother with all this fuss? You only need a tiny bit of urine anyway, so why risk contaminating the whole thing with menstrual blood by overcomplicating the process?

It’s not that simple, because you can end up with erythrocytes in your urine regardless, and then you're left guessing whether there's actual blood present or if it's just from your period.

I just received a travel authorization because I had to travel out of town for a medical checkup. What’s the protocol now? Am I supposed to bring this into the Washington, D.C. office? And do I handle filling out the expense section myself?
