And why not? I had my full gynecological exam at Sun Insurance and was actually quite satisfied. The doctor was gentle and took the time to explain everything—she even drew me diagrams. I don't think there's any room for such sweeping generalizations here.🤷

On the flip side, I went to Medikol for an eye exam, paid $100, and honestly, I felt like I was out the door before I even walked in. Every single question I asked felt met with short, superficial answers, clearly designed just to get me out of their sight as quickly as possible.

Take a look at the Sun thread over in the Women's Health subforum—specifically under Gynecology—and honestly, the feedback isn't great. Back when I was working at my old job, they used to send all the employees there for their annual checkups at Sun, and people had some pretty bad things to say about it too. After hearing what everyone was complaining about, I didn't even consider going there myself. It also felt like we were forced into using Sun Insurance; they just deducted the premiums from everyone's paycheck, even those who really didn't want it. Personally, I think sticking with State Farm and going to Medikol would be a much better move. But hey, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

So, you’re judging Sun Insurance's clinic without ever stepping foot inside?
You claim everyone is entitled to their own opinion, yet you spend half your life aggressively shoving yours down everyone else's throat on basically every health thread here.

So I headed over to Sun Insurance for a women's health checkup and saw Dr. Lučić. Honestly? It was great. Easily the best gynecological exam I've ever had in my life.

I can’t quite recall her name 😢 but she was a younger woman. I actually followed up with her via email after they sent over my results, and she got back to me incredibly fast. So, it’s entirely possible it's the same person..

My wife mentioned I could just shoot her an email if anything in the paperwork is confusing or if I have any general questions. For whatever reason, she had to do my exam using those Virgo instruments and basically just one finger—something my social worker never even breathed a word about, and honestly, she’s about as gentle as a tractor 😬. Anyway, I told her once I've saved up enough cash, I'm heading over to Sun Insurance to see that same doctor again. She actually took a second to explain things that my social worker couldn't be bothered to mention in a lifetime.

It’s about prescribing a cheaper KOBP alternative for a patient. From what I understand, primary care doctors now have the option to swap out an older, more expensive medication for a cheaper one. However, if a patient insists on sticking with the original drug—which actually works for them—and they're willing to pay the small difference out of pocket, is the doctor "obligated" to prescribe that specific original medication?

As of right now, you aren't required to write the absolute cheapest option, though there is a strong recommendation to go with the most cost-effective choice.
If a patient really wants their previous medication, there isn't anything stopping you from writing it for them just yet.
A new formulary list is coming soon, and once that drops, it will likely become mandatory.
In theory, the only real obligation a doctor has is to prescribe what they believe is the best choice for the patient!!

Which medication are we talking about?

Well, if you're working at Sun Insurance, then you're obviously obligated to file a claim, right? I mean, it just doesn't seem right that Sun Insurance forces this on people. It’s supposed to be voluntary insurance, yet they just deduct it from employees' paychecks every single month even if they don't want it. That seems to be how Sun Insurance operates as a private entity. Honestly, because of those principles, I didn't even want to go there. Some people from my old company went there for checkups and they had some pretty bad things to say, so I just concluded it was better to stay away. Whoever wants to go can go. I wasn't trying to force my opinion on anyone; I just stated that I personally wouldn't be going.

Of course, anyone posting a glowing review for some doctor or hospital is either related to them or on the payroll, right? 🤣
Some people just straight-up can't wrap their heads around the idea that someone else might have a different opinion—or, you know, actually lived through a totally different experience. I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry about it 🤣.

Basically, an abdominal ultrasound and a hepatobiliary scan look at the exact same set of organs.

To all forum members,

Since you've already started pointing fingers at one another regarding who is actually an employee of a company they’re recommending, I want to remind everyone that these accusations and debates fly in the face of our community guidelines. Determining whether someone is advertising or not falls strictly under the moderators' jurisdiction; we will be the ones to judge who is promoting a service and who isn't.

While I appreciate you stepping in to end the debate yourselves, please be aware that next time, warnings will be issued accordingly.

Thanks for understanding.

Hey there,

I’m living in Chicago right now, but my official address isn't registered here yet.

Is it possible to switch doctors—specifically picking someone local here in Chicago—without having to officially change my residency or get a new ID first?

Thanks a ton 🙂

One more quick question. If I’m looking to pick up some supplemental health insurance (I assume I need to fill out this form)—do I need to use my permanent home address or the one here in NYC?

Hi there—so, I’ve been getting some recommendations for Dr. Goran Mirošević over at the Vinogradski clinic for endocrinology. When it comes to actually booking an appointment... am I allowed to request a specific doctor, or is it just a matter of whoever they decide to slot me in with?

It’s possible, though you might find yourself waiting quite a while for an open slot...

Is it actually true that a primary care physician can't just prescribe something and send an electronic referral over the web?
In my current situation—since I'll be back in my hometown for the next three weeks while my family doctor is stuck in the city where I go to school—it seems a bit ridiculous. Am I really expected to make the trek all the way there just to pick up a single physical referral in person?

Could you just ask someone to pick it up and mail it to you?
