I’m doing metal no favors. 😁

Look, I love metal—I'm not denying that. But after reading all those glowing tributes to Nirvana in magazines like Rolling Stone and various underground zines, I expected something much more substantial.

Maybe I’ll grow to love them one day. Who knows. God, I spent so much time hating on Sonic Youth and Bad Brains... 😁

Even how The Jam's "A Bomb in Wardour Street" morphed into "Midnight in Paris"... just a perfect moment.

Listening to Nirvana live versus listening to their records are two completely different beasts... some bands just don't translate quite as well to vinyl

Take Fleetwood Mac's "Only Love Can Set You Free," for example

For sure, but honestly, even their studio albums are absolute masterpieces...

As for that Nirvana show back in the mid-'90s (was it '96? 🤔), I can only tell you what I've said a million times already—if THAT set didn't shake the very foundation of an Apple fan, then nothing else ever will.🙂 🙂

Man, Daniel Bailey7, wouldn't it be wild if we could teleport back to that moment just one more time...😢

Side note: Nirvana - Implosion (I actually couldn't handle this one, because it's just too :2up: :2up: 😈 🙂 🙂

Left and right drums? 😁

So... I'm hearing some complaints about the sound quality during the show in Tokyo.

Does anyone actually know what went wrong there?

Supposedly it was just bad vibes from the venue, so there's not much you can do about it...

Who’s actually helping him out, though? Especially when it comes to all that cable management... These shows are strictly for the audiophiles.

Where did that come from?

The folder is labeled ''i killed a party again CD-R EP''. It’s probably just some home recording he made for friends or sold at shows. ???

Anyway, stumbled onto this by accident... managed to grab two and a half tracks out of five. Hopefully I can snag the rest soon—these are actually pretty great. 🙂

Quote: Your Monkey Friend said:By the way, Housemartins? Is that the band Norman Cook used to be in?
I think a friend mentioned them to me ages ago, but since his music taste leans more toward U2 or Billy Joel, I never really paid much attention. Is that who he was talking about?

Nope. A bit too progay for my liking, 🙂
they're actually the band that eventually became The Beautiful South. I mean, okay, they aren't quite AS awful as B.S., and they have a few decent pop hits, but it’s just not really my style. Honestly, the B-sides from The Smiths sound ten times better than any of their big radio hits.

Anyway, 🙂Robin Booth,
are you aware that you're going to be stone deaf in ten years if you aren't already?
🙂 Also, Nirvana is hands down the best metal ever. Pure samurai metal.

Look, you could call it that if you wanted to 😎
but at their show at Apple, I acted so incredibly stupid that I felt genuine embarrassment afterward. 😳
Basically, lacking any self-awareness, I found myself mimicking movements from samurai films—just flailing everything around me. It wasn't premeditated; it was simply my visceral reaction to what was happening on stage—this chaotic blend of guitar noise and Japanese tradition. Those riffs that sound "metal" on the record take on an entirely different dimension live; they truly sound like some kind of samurai noise.
Luckily, someone else in the crowd was even more foolish than I was, which managed to overshadow my behavior. Man, Kurt, oh Kurt. 🙏 😁

Yeah, Kurt was absolutely losing his mind that night... At one point he actually ripped off his shirt and started whipping it around the stage—just going at it for a minute or two until those buttons (metal, I assume) smacked him right in his bald head a few times. He tried to dodge, but once he realized Korki had completely lost control, he lunged forward, nearly taking Kurt out with a guitar strike to the skull...
Once Kurt finally snapped out of it and realized KK Nulla had totally flipped, the show just wasn't worth watching anymore. 😁

He kept it up for maybe a minute or two until—I'm assuming they were metal—the buttons on his shirt ended up clobbering him right in his bald head a few times...

I think this just completely shattered my childhood worldview! 👏
