Look, they didn't actually isolate any bacteria from my blood or anything...
My white blood cell count was sitting at 20,000, then it dropped down to 16,000. That was the day before yesterday. I’m really hoping it settles back down to a normal 8,000 soon.
The real issue is that while I was at Mount Sinai, nobody bothered to explain anything to me—I guess they just assumed I was some clueless kid who wouldn't understand? And if I actually dared to ask, they'd just shrug and say they didn't know off the top of their heads.
🙄
Actually, I ended up over at NYU Langone because that's where I went for the ER. They stuck me in the hematology ward since the other units were full, so they've been drawing three vials of blood every single day, plus finger pricks too.
And today, my temp is 99.0. I don't know if that's dangerous—apparently, it's not supposed to be high, but then I also started my period, which doesn't help.🙄
I'm just hoping everything turns out okay. Honestly, since Sunday (when I first hit the ER), I've been feeling a bit better—the coughing isn't as constant and it doesn't hurt to breathe anymore... and when I do cough, it's more productive rather than just dry hacking.
But this temperature is still bugging me.
On Sunday, when they were listening to my lungs, they heard something, but after that, they couldn't hear anything at all. I'm crossing my fingers that the X-ray on Monday shows things have cleared up.
Thanks for all the advice.🙂

Look, things will settle down eventually. You just need to hang in there. Like Taylor Swift told you, it takes time. How much time? That’s anyone's guess. As someone who's been around the block, I spent nearly three months stuck in a literal house arrest.
It definitely moves faster when you're younger. Just focus on getting healthy and make sure you take it easy for a long while after that.

Ugh, I just got hit with bronchitis right at the start of my vacation. And get this—it’s not going away. My doctor shoved two more boxes of antibiotics down my throat along with some random cough syrup, but honestly? It’s doing absolutely nothing. My chest feels like it's being stabbed every time I breathe, the coughing is relentless, and my sinuses are just constant leaks. I have to go get an X-ray tomorrow. Does anyone have any actual suggestions for something else that might work? God knows I need it. 😢

Drink some hot sage tea right before you hit the sack—and I mean hot. Make sure that when you steep the sage in boiling water, you cover it immediately and let it sit for about 15 minutes... Use honey or Splenda if you need a sweetener.
The actual recipe is just half a teaspoon of sage mixed with half a cup of hot milk plus some Splenda.
Have it before bed to warm up—it really helps open up those airways, especially when that freezing air starts making your lungs ache...🙂

umm... 🤔

My mom is going through something similar. She has asthma, caught bronchitis, and has been cycling through all sorts of antibiotics for the last ten days plus getting shots. Today, her doctor sent her straight to the ER for testing because he wasn't happy about how nothing was working. Her medical history is pretty messy—mostly allergies and asthma, which are all linked, plus this brutal cough that just won't quit. Anyway... after waiting nearly three hours, she finally got results. They told her there’s some intense allergen issue, but since she’s been on so much medication, they can't pin anything down yet. They want to follow up in two weeks to see what's actually happening. She should have stayed at the hospital, but she’s incredibly stubborn, so she signed the papers to be discharged. Honestly, her system is so wiped out she probably should be on an IV right now... 🤔 😢 anyway, I'm incredibly worried about it and just dreading these next two weeks while we wait for answers... I hope things aren't quite as complicated for you. There's some supplement out there that supposedly cured a woman of 52 different allergies—some kind of honey-based shake or whatever meant to boost the immune system... but I don't know if that's actually smart or recommended. You'd definitely need to talk to a doctor first. Who knows, maybe it's all just more of that snake oil nonsense... 😬 anyway... I hate bronchitis, I hate being sick, I hate all of it. It isn't fair. Good luck to you 👋

By the way, you can drink iced tea all day long—if you want—just don't go stepping out into that freezing air. It’s still sweltering outside even though summer's technically ending...

Thanks, guys. Gala, I just knocked back half a liter of sage tea with milk🙂—that’s my absolute go-to, honestly. I tell everyone they have to try it, though personally, I always sweeten mine with honey.👍

Honestly, if you want to know the truth, this whole mess is because of my sinus infection. Until I get my sinuses cleared out, my lungs aren't going to stop acting up either. It's a vicious cycle. How am I supposed to fix these sinuses? Should I try steam inhalation? Or maybe some saline rinses? I swear, I think this whole nightmare was caused by that damn flu I caught last month...

If you’re looking for a way to deal with respiratory issues, licorice root tea is basically a miracle worker. You can pick up a bag at any Whole Foods or local health food store; just follow the brewing instructions and sip it hot throughout the day.
It works just as well if you simmer some peeled, minced ginger in water and sweeten the whole thing with a bit of honey.

Look...
Get some plain barley, just the standard kind you'd find in a bag at Whole Foods or Target (around 4-$1.75).
Lightly toast a handful of the barley in a dry pan until it hits a golden-brown color. Once that's done, pour in about a cup of water and let it boil briefly. When it cools down to a lukewarm temperature, strain it and drink the liquid. I guess you should prepare it fresh 2 or 3 times a day.
It’s guaranteed to help.

p.s. You could probably mix the barley with some yogurt or fruit and eat it that way instead.

The only way you’re going to get lasting relief from these sinus issues is through controlled suction—basically, forcefully clearing out that inflamed buildup from your sinuses.

I’m on antibiotics, Guaifenesin, barley tea... nothing seems to be doing a damn thing. I’m just constantly dealing with this thick, nasty mucus (and my sinuses are a total mess too).
What else should I try 😢?

So, you basically hollow out a black radish—just scoop it out until you’ve got this thin little tunnel going all the way through—then set it right on top of a shot glass and pour some honey into that hollowed-out spot! After an hour or two, the juice from the radish mixes with the honey and starts dripping down into the glass like magic. You just sip that syrup a few times a day with a big old tablespoon.
It totally clears out all that nasty mucus and settles your cough, plus it's all-natural, which I love!

Man, I’ve been stuck dealing with this sinus infection and bronchitis too, and honestly, it just won't let up. It feels like it's dragging on forever...

My respiratory system has always been my Achilles' heel, and if I'm being real, I probably don't do it many favors either.

Personally, I’ve been dealing with this chronic bronchitis that just wouldn't quit—it felt like it was going to drag on forever. I finally decided to try a bit of a regimen involving the local YMCA pool, swimming for about an hour every other day and hitting the sauna twice a week. After sticking to that for maybe a month, I went back for my follow-up appointment, and—get this—the bronchitis was nowhere to be found 🙂. That’s just how things tend to work out for me, I guess.

I’ve read that you can't just cure chronic inflammation with a single magic bullet.
All you really do is manage it—keep it from dragging you down constantly.
The goal is finding something that actually makes life tolerable. Personally, I wasn't interested in constant nebulizer treatments or playing chemist with various medications... I wanted a solution that was quick and straightforward.
As it turns out, propolis has been an absolute game-changer for my chronic sinus inflammation (and that endless mucus production).
For an entire year, I was struggling, but now
everything has cleared up. No more headaches, no more congestion.
I just take a few drops in the morning and a few before bed. That’s really all there is to it.

So here’s the deal. A month ago, I came down with a sinus infection. Fast forward to today, I drop by my doctor's office for a checkup, and she tells me it's actually bronchitis. Look, I know what it's like to deal with brutal sinus issues—I've had them. Plus, I’m dealing with a deviated septum and allergies on top of everything else.
I have no idea what to do. I’ve got the prescriptions and all the other nonsense, and I'm following the routine, but I can't stop wondering: am I looking at a future with asthma or chronic bronchitis? Is there any way to prevent that from happening?
