Can someone please take a look at my results and tell me what you think...🙏
🙏
I'll just list the ones that fell outside the normal range:

CBC

Leukocytes 13.37 (3.4-9.7)
RDW-CV 12.1 (14.3-16.5)

Differential Count

Neutrophil granulocytes 8.98 (2.06-6.49)
Lymphocytes 3.60 (1.19-3.35)

Urinalysis:

Erythrocytes 2-5 (0-2)

Thanks in advance...

p.s. My OB-GYN sent me in for these routine checks. I'm on birth control... if that matters at all...

Does it mean anything if my platelet count came back at 535, while the standard reference range is listed as 158-424 (10e9/L)?
Also, my creatinine is sitting at 74, but the normal interval is supposed to be 79-125 (umol/L).

Thanks so much for any insight!

Honestly, it doesn't really mean much—I mean, if those are the only weird numbers popping up, your results look totally fine to me.

p.s. My OB-GYN sent me for this just for a routine checkup, and I am on birth control... Hope that helps provide some context.

Man, I don't know... it doesn't look too crazy to me, and honestly, I've always been the type to say you shouldn't freak out over every little lab number if you aren't actually feeling sick, especially since you mentioned this was just a routine checkup.

My son is currently in the recovery phase from mono, which he contracted back in February.
He’s been undergoing monthly blood work, and I was relieved when both his lymphocyte counts and liver function tests finally stabilized about two months ago.
However, looking at today's results, I noticed his LDH has climbed back up to 352 U/L—for context, it started at 432 during the peak of the illness before dropping down to 119 two months ago.
His alkaline phosphatase also came back at 164 U/L today.
I'm trying to make sense of this—is this sudden uptick in LDH actually cause for concern, and is that alkaline phosphatase level within a normal range?

Does anyone happen to know?
My doctor isn't back in the office until Monday.

The only thing that's got me worried is those high white blood cell counts. 😠
Aside from my birth control, I'm not taking anything else. No symptoms, no complaints... nothing.

I wouldn't sweat it too much... honestly, it really just depends on which lab you're using for your bloodwork, because sometimes those numbers can be totally fine. Every single lab out there seems to have its own specific reference range they go by...

He’s been getting blood work done every month, and his liver numbers and lymphocyte counts actually looked totally normal about two months ago.
But looking at today's results, I see his LDH is up to 352 U/L (it was at 432 when he first got sick, then dropped down to 119 two months ago),
and his alkaline phosphatase hit 164 U/L today.
Why would the LDH spike again—is that something to worry about—and is that alkaline phosphatase level within the normal range?

The alkaline phosphatase is just a tiny bit over the limit, but yeah, that LDH is definitely high.
Of course, nothing means anything without a doctor actually looking at him... You didn't mention if he's feeling any symptoms lately? Like a fever, a sore throat, any bloating under the right side of his ribs, or maybe just feeling super wiped out? I'm not an expert, but I think once you fight this thing off, it really messes with your immune system for a bit... Usually, it's EBV that causes it, though sometimes it's CMV, and I honestly can't remember if catching one makes you immune to the other too...😕...
Also, sometimes after mono, you can deal with a type of hemolytic anemia—where red blood cells break down—which ends up driving those LDH levels way up... Man, I'm really just guessing here... I truly hope you guys got a full panel done, but otherwise, you should probably just get him in to see the pediatrician first thing Monday morning... I don't want to freak anyone out with internet guesswork, but I'm pretty sure it's nothing to lose sleep over.🙂

Thanks, Scott Allen10, for the post
We’re heading to see the infectious disease specialist tomorrow
Ever since this past winter, we haven't been able to catch a single break—it feels like we're constantly pivoting from one issue to the next, and frankly, we're all a bit exhausted from staring at these lab results
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some good news
Thanks again 🙂

So, I was looking at some lab results the other day and it got me thinking... what’s actually the deal when you see a low mean platelet volume on a blood test?

My ALT is at 3, and GGT is sitting at 7. I’ve read online—and my doctor actually told me this back when my ALT was 7 two years ago—that low values don't really matter. Still, seeing them even lower now feels a little weird 🤷. I’m generally healthy; this was just a routine checkup. Everything else looks fine, except for my iron levels, which are pretty low at 9. Just wondering if the low liver numbers are truly nothing to worry about.
thanks🙂

URINALYSIS RESULTS

I suppose I’m looking for some perspective here.
My mother just received her urinalysis results, which indicate the following:

BLOOD - test strip 300
FRESH ERYTHROCYTES - trace amount
LEUKOCYTES 5
MUCUS - present
CRYSTALS - present
SALTS - present
URATES - present
BACTERIA - present

Is this hematuria actually cause for concern? She’s been dealing with some discomfort under her right rib cage, along with bloating and nausea, though I should note the urine culture came back sterile.

Looking for some advice here.
My mom just got her urinalysis results back:

BLOOD-test strip 300
FRESH ERYTHROCYTES - trace amount
LEUKOCYTES 5
MUCUS - present
CRYSTALS - present
SALTS - present
URATES - present
BACTERIA - present

Is this hematuria dangerous? She’s also dealing with pain under her right rib cage, bloating, and nausea. The urine culture came back sterile.

There’s inflammation—basically, the blood and white cells in the urine are just markers for that. She really needs to check the blood work alongside these results to get the full picture.

Based on this, she could be looking at cystitis (bladder infection) or maybe pyelonephritis (kidney infection).

That pain under the right rib cage? Could be anything from gallbladder inflammation to gallstones or even hepatitis... It's impossible to guess blindly. Does she have a fever, and how long has the pain been going on?

Post those blood test results.

Has she had an abdominal ultrasound yet?

Thanks for the reply, Patrick Carter!

I don't have the lab results right in front of me at this moment, but if my memory serves, her liver enzymes—ALT and AST—were slightly elevated, though perhaps only about 10 to 15 points above the upper limit, along with a somewhat elevated GGT. Her cholesterol is also high, sitting around 5 point something, though it used to be even higher. She had elevated triglycerides as well, but those have decreased since she started taking Atoris to manage the fat levels. I suppose she doesn't think that medication caused any issues. It’s entirely possible, though, that the Bonviv she was taking for osteoporosis might have played a role; I've heard quite a few people mention experiencing side effects from it.
She had an abdominal ultrasound where they indicated everything looked fine, aside from some minor fatty liver. She also underwent a renal tract X-ray. According to that, they can see some sort of shadow on the left side, even though she actually feels the pain on her right.
On a follow-up ultrasound, they spotted a 3mm gallbladder polyp—which she's had for a while now—but interestingly, some technicians seem to see it while others don't. They also mentioned a phlebolith in the lower pelvic region. What on earth is that??
And regarding her liver, there's an MCL measurement of 16.5 longitudinally.
I honestly can't make heads or tails of any of this, and it seems like even our doctors here in the States are stumped.

A phlebolith is just a calcification in the vein wall—basically a non-issue.

MCL just refers to the axis used for the liver imaging. If your mom’s liver measures 16.5 cm at that cross-section, and the standard range is roughly 13.5 ± 1.7 cm, then her liver is slightly enlarged. This could be due to inflammation or, as you mentioned, fatty liver disease.

It’s also possible there’s a significant amount of sediment or gallstones present.

Liver enzyme levels can spike simply because of medications she’s currently taking.

Is your mom carrying some extra weight? Based on the urinalysis and the ultrasound, it looks like it. She really needs to lose some weight and overhaul her diet: cut out anything fried or sautéed in oil, excessive butter, processed deli meats, sausages, hard cheeses, prosciutto, and creamy desserts—switch to chicken, turkey, fish, green veggies, fruit, and foods boiled in water. You can add a bit of oil (preferably olive oil) at the very end. And most importantly, she needs to drink 1.5 to 2 liters of plain water a day.

Fat-burning supplements might help, but they won't do much without the dietary changes and proper hydration.

I was hoping someone might be able to offer some insight here... My partner recently dealt with a case of contagious pneumonia, and naturally, I caught it while we were together earlier this summer. However, instead of the infection settling in my lungs, it seems to have targeted my respiratory tract, leaving me with a persistent, heavy cough.

My doctor ordered a CRP test, and the results showed significant inflammation; it came back at 23.29, which is quite high considering the normal range is typically between 0 and 5.

Here are the rest of my lab results:

RBC 4.36 (3.86 - 5.08)
Hemoglobin g/dL 128 (118 - 149)
Hematocrit 0.364 (0.350 - 0.470)
MCV fL 83.5 (83.0 - 97.0)
MCH pg 29.4 (27.0 - 34.0)
MCHC g/L 352 (320 - 345) - HIGH
RDW % 12.5 (9.0 - 15.0)
Platelets 10e9/L 141 (158 - 424) - LOW
MPV fL 10.7 (6.8 - 10.4) - HIGH
WBC 6.4 (3.4 - 9.7)
Neutrophils % 21.9 (44.0 - 72.0) - LOW
# 10e9/L 1.00 (2.06 - 6.49)
Lymphocytes % 53.8 (20.0 - 46.0)
# 10e9/L 1.29 (1.19 - 3.35) - HIGH
Monocytes % 23.9 (2.0 - 12.0) - VERY HIGH
# 10e9/L 1.09 (0.12 - 0.84)
Eosinophils % 0.2 (0.0 - 7.0)
# 10e9/L 0.01 (0.00 - 0.43)
Basophils % 0.2 (0.0 - 1.0)
# 10e9/L 0.01 (0.00 - 0.06)

Based on these numbers, I was prescribed Lekoklar XL 500mg—an antibiotic—this past Friday. Despite that, my fever hasn't broken even after a week. These labs were taken on Friday, and while my temperature initially spiked above 100.4°F, it’s currently hovering between 99.1°F and 99.4°F. It fluctuates constantly over the last three days, rising and falling again. I haven't been taking any Tylenol to suppress the fever.

Could anyone explain what these elevated and low markers signify in this context? Furthermore, is it realistic to expect the CRP levels to stabilize within a single week? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The blood work looks fine, though we’re missing the ESR. Your CRP is elevated, but nothing crazy—CRP is just a marker for acute inflammation that fluctuates every 6 to 10 hours. A single reading doesn't tell the whole story; all it says is that there was some active inflammation at the exact moment the lab was drawn.

How can you say your fever isn't dropping when it went from over 100.4 down to under 99.5? That counts. It won't just plummet straight to a normal 98.6 overnight.

Basically, if the infection is bacterial, the fever should start trending down within 24 to 48 hours of starting antibiotics—that's how you know they picked the right one.

Any other symptoms popping up? Coughing? Pain in your ribs or under the sternum? Joint aches?

If you’re feeling generally better—meaning no chills, no shaking, and the fever isn't climbing back up past what you mentioned—then the antibiotic is doing its job.

Did the doctor actually diagnose you with pneumonia or just bronchitis? I'm a bit unclear on that.

When is your follow-up appointment?

Don't go pacing around the house too much. Just stay in bed, rest up, and keep drinking fluids—water, tea, whatever. Then head to your check-up.

If you’re still feeling wiped out, coughing, and the fever keeps dragging on, you might need a chest X-ray and a different antibiotic. At that point, we have to rule out pneumonia.
