The best British bands are dead—well, mostly dead... except for maybe Fall Out Boy and Wire.🙏

That Fall... I admire them to the point of idiocy. How does a band manage to stay active for that long, churn out so many albums across such wildly different genres, and somehow never lose their edge? And honestly, how is it that older musicians can still produce better music for the youth than the kids themselves? If they were spinning "Serum" at the parties, I’d never leave...

Rachel Jones11 mentioned two that I think are probably my favorites, but I’d also throw Gang of Four, Buzzcocks, Joy Division, and The Who into the mix—just really early, fun albums that aren't trying too hard to be deep.

Right, I forgot the Buzzcocks were still at it... I’m actually digging their latest record, but honestly, the last Fall album and Wire were just phenomenal... It blows my mind how they still manage to churn out such top-tier music.😎

The latest Buzzcocks record is more "okay" than "great," but you should hunt down "Trade Test Transmissions" from '93—if I recall correctly. That one hits as hard as "Love Bites."

I haven't heard Urinalse, and I'm pretty thin on Wire too; I've got "Pink Flag" on some old cassette and that’s about it. You just can't get your hands on everything...

Some solid, unmentioned Englishmen: Siouxsie & The Banshees. Public Image Ltd., from way back when. The Raincoats (nice call, Linda Rodriguez6!). The Rezillos. Carter USM. Napalm Death. The Cure. MAGAZINE!!! The Damned. The Jam (instead of The Who). Subhumans. Big Audio Dynamite. Honestly, I could go on until tomorrow...

Look, my point was that I wasn't expecting anything from modern-day Buzzcocks—nothing at all—yet I ended up with a perfectly "okay" album...
To be blunt, they’ve always been a genius singles band to me; their actual full-length albums never really blew me away. I even traded in my first two records just to get *Birthday Party*...

Retirees, let's not forget about XTC

I get it. I just wanted to mention that the reformed Buzzcocks put out another even better album. I’d go as far as to say that "Trade Test Transmissions" actually holds more masterpieces than any of their standard studio records...

As for XTC, I had one of their records once, and honestly, they weren't my thing. Traded them in for Saxon. 🙂

Yesterday at the Rock Club in Indianapolis, some band playing his style was on stage and man, they were just pathetic. Honestly, some band from Des Moines that was opening for them totally crushed it—those guys absolutely wiped the floor with them!
Not even big-name musicians, but they played so incredibly well....
