Grab it. 👍 It's great. And honestly, I think Eugène François Vidocq is incredibly good if we're talking about French cinema.

Has anyone seen this movie? I watched it yesterday and found it truly magnificent. It draws inspiration from actual historical events in France during the 18th century, centering on the legend of 'The Beast of Gevaudan.'

My thanks to the moderators for moving this post. I see there have been previous discussions regarding this film... To me, it was fantastic (I admit it has some kitschy elements, but I find them acceptable)... The cinematography and the score are 👍

The film is stunning. It’s beautifully shot—nothing banal or hollow about it. Instead, there’s this baroque richness and opulence to the visuals. I’ve already sat through it three times and found myself captivated by every single frame.

Caught this one by chance at the local theater. Honestly? It caught me totally off guard in the best way possible.
I was just looking for something to kill some time, but ended up sitting through an absolute gem of a movie.
And those landscapes... You seriously wouldn't believe there was still that kind of untouched wilderness left in America.

Man, any true horror buff or vampire fanatic would probably lose it after reading that... lol. For me, Vampire movies are usually pretty weak, and Underworld feels like something made just for American teens, though Freddy vs Jason is okay I guess... if you want some actual good stuff, go check out: Hellraiser, House, A Nightmare on Elm Street 1, 2, and 3, Demon 1 and 2 (the ones by Lambert), The Evil Dead 1 and 2, Bad Taste, Braindead, Junk, Ichi the Killer... and as far as vampires go, Interview with the Vampire is basically the only one worth watching.
if you're into psychological thrillers, you should totally check out John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness

Solid effects. Cool movie. Good for the theater. Ending was a total letdown though. Costumes were killer. Cinematography held up.

I just finished watching it—well, mostly, since I missed the opening minutes and now I’m completely lost. 😵 To make matters worse, the whole thing was in German!

Word on the street is this movie is actually based on a true story.
According to the legend, back in the mid-1700s, there was a werewolf terrorizing the countryside, targeting women and children...
The authorities launched a full investigation and all that, but they never caught the killer. Then, just as suddenly as it started, the killings stopped.

-That whole mess served as the inspiration for the film.

The King dispatches his investigator to get to the bottom of things, and he’s joined by a buddy from the States who happens to be a kung fu expert.

So, they go hunting for this mysterious monster, but as the investigation unfolds, they realize the real culprits are actually conspirators trying to topple the French monarchy...

That’s the gist of it. If you want more specifics, just hit me up via DM—I don't want to spoil too much of the movie for anyone.
