Quick question: For the last few days, I’ve been dealing with this constant sweet taste in my mouth. I’m drinking plenty of water, but everything just tastes sugary... and even the water feels weirdly "sweet" 😕. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar? I'm honestly a little worried about diabetes. That said, I have been taking Vitamin A and D supplements for about three weeks now, so maybe there's a connection. I read somewhere that excessive Vitamin D can actually be toxic and might cause these kinds of symptoms. I skipped my dose this morning just to see... Help 😢.

Honestly, just wait until you talk to a doctor, they'll be able to give you the full rundown. Don't sweat it too much before you actually know what's going on 🙂 it's probably nothing serious 😉

Just go talk to your doctor; they’ll give you the full rundown. 🙂

Look, sure, it could be diabetes, but don't jump straight to the worst-case scenario... It might just be that you're spending way too much time in those air-conditioned offices with the super dry air and you're just dehydrated.

What are your thoughts on what this could actually be? It doesn't happen all that often, but when it does, I find myself having to chug massive amounts of water just to make the thirst subside.

I’ve checked my blood sugar several times in the morning before eating, and the readings have been perfectly normal.

If it is a blood sugar issue, is it even possible for it to spike so suddenly like that?

And if it isn't sugar, then what else could possibly be causing this?

The evil spirits are coming for you 😁

But seriously though: I don't have the slightest clue what that could actually be...

Could be high. Check his levels again after he eats.

If it is related to blood sugar, is it possible for it to spike suddenly?

And if it isn't, what else could it be?

It depends on what you're eating. If you're snacking on salty jerky, you're definitely going to be thirsty.🙂

I hope you aren't breastfeeding by any chance because that can really mess with your levels😁

just kidding, but seriously go get a stress test for your blood sugar.

If my blood sugar is high, why shouldn't it be elevated in the morning too?

Or perhaps we're looking at these sporadic spikes caused by sudden stress—though, honestly, life hasn't been particularly chaotic lately.

P.S. I really need to overhaul my diet; I’ve been leaning way too heavily on carbs and barely touching any greens.

swiftbison7 gave you some solid advice: go get an OGTT to check your glucose tolerance. It’s the only way you’ll actually get some peace of mind.
Besides, blood sugar isn't some fixed number that stays the same all day, is it? Whether it drops or spikes depends on a thousand different factors.

And what’s the required load? What exactly constitutes the threshold under stress here?

The glucose tolerance test is basically where they draw your blood before you drink that sugary solution, and then they keep testing you every single hour for the next four hours.
Your fourth reading is usually the one that really matters most.

Sugar levels can swing wildly from one hour to the next because things like stress can totally mess with them.

I actually went through this during my pregnancy when I had gestational diabetes, and while it cleared up after I gave birth, I still need to head back to the doctor to get checked out.

Maybe just get a urine test done first since any excess sugar in your blood ends up there, so it's worth doing before you commit to the full OGTT.

I have been dealing with constant thirst all day; I can’t seem to stop drinking water. To make matters worse, my tongue looks white and coated. I am aware that I need to get some bloodwork done to rule out issues with my blood sugar, but... what else could this be? Aside from that, I feel fine, though I haven't been sleeping well lately and have been navigating quite a bit of stress and anxiety.

Help😢

I’ve developed a fever and was experiencing some tremors, so that likely explains the physical instability...😕 However, I am also feeling incredibly depressed; I can't stop crying. It’s quite overwhelming. To make matters worse, I started reading up on various symptoms online and have somehow managed to convince myself I have every possible ailment. I feel completely lost in my own head.😢 😢
A classic case of hypochondria. 🙄
My blood pressure seems fine. I plan to schedule some blood work once this fever breaks. Oh, and I haven't eaten much... I tried eating something earlier, but it left me feeling quite faint. My mother insists it is just a standard viral infection or the flu—she is a registered nurse, after all—and tells me to calm down. But I feel absolutely terrible.😢 🙂 🙂 I simply cannot find any sense of calm...

So yesterday...

Started running to the bathroom at midnight

Like, 4 times to pee and I had about 8 ounces of water each time
Then this morning, another 8 ounces
At my friend's place—just coffee and 8 ounces of sparkling water
Stopped by my doctor's office—coffee plus 8 ounces of water
Back to her place again—another 8 ounces of sparkling
Once I got home—8 ounces of sparkling and 8 ounces of plain water
Went out—coffee and an 8-ounce soda
Man, I was so relieved to finally get to my parents' house—had 3 servings of 8 ounces of water there
By the time I got home, I polished off a whole 1.5-liter bottle

That's 4.1 liters total, not even counting the coffee

Then just slept
*

And today...

The cycle started again at midnight

I think I drank half a liter from a bottle right by my bed during the night
Just finished another 1.5-liter bottle this morning

_____

I am thirsty like crazy... seriously... it's like I haven't had a single drop of liquid in days...

This is basically my life every single day now...

My blood sugar seems fine...

Any ideas? 🙄 🙄 I feel so stupid

Well, you should probably get those kidneys checked out just to make sure your blood sugar levels are looking okay...
