Looking for a specialist...

Honestly, my dentist was a total lifesaver.

I have nothing but good things to say about him.

I had a filling fall out, and I spent the last two hours at work in such excruciating pain... I just wanted to pass out.
Since I don't have a regular dentist here in New York City, I stopped by a drugstore on my way to the ER to grab something, but even that didn't touch the pain.
The ER wouldn't even see me because I showed up too early, around 6 PM... they said I'd just have to wait until they could pull the tooth.
So, I headed over to Brooklyn instead and walked into the first dentist's office I found. He just took care of me without asking a million questions.
I ended up signing on as a patient right then, and we worked together over the next few months until everything was fixed up.

Maybe we just share the same luck, who knows...

I don't get why nobody will bother to recommend a decent dentist, even when someone specifically asks for someone with actual experience. Is everyone too stingy to give a little credit, or are you all just terrified of accidentally running an advertisement? It makes zero sense.

If the doctor is heavy-handed and makes it hurt more than it should, I'm going to be terrified. And if I'm scared, I'll just keep putting it off until a tooth hurts so bad I can't even function. I had a dentist once who absolutely terrified me. It was a nightmare. 😁

I actually have a specific dentist in mind that I’d turn to if a major issue ever cropped up🙂 usually, I just stick with my regular guy; he’s perfectly fine, even though I’ll admit I’m not exactly the most diligent patient when it comes to scheduling regular checkups😁 however, this other specialist is absolutely top-tier (though, naturally, he’s pricey as all get-out)😉 if you're interested, I can shoot you his details via private message...

She runs her own private practice.
She’s kind, efficient, upbeat, and genuinely pleasant—plus, while she’s working on your teeth, you get to watch a movie on a monitor right in front of you.😁

My ex actually sent me to her dentist to get a tooth pulled. This new doctor fixed everything up in just two months, mostly while complaining about how incompetent the previous ones were. Honestly, she’s fantastic, but there’s no point in me recommending her because she’s completely slammed and isn't taking any new patients. I basically had to pull some strings just to get an appointment. Both of them take Medicare, though.

I honestly can’t believe nobody has dropped a single address, a name, or even a phone number for a dentist yet.👎 It would be freaking amazing if we actually had some real shout-outs here—but more importantly, some names of dentists to avoid at all costs. Some of these absolute butchers don't deserve a single cent, yet people keep walking right into their traps just because they have no clue... Seriously, let's help each other out instead of just talking in circles without saying anything useful. I'm just gonna head to the one closest to my place and hope for the best.
I'll let you guys know how it goes.

I think Dr. Dvojkovic over in Brooklyn is great.
He takes Medicare, but you can also go private if you want. 🙂

I wouldn't recommend Dr. Stefanec-Papic. She’s way too focused on the billing side of things; it feels more like being coerced into an appointment than getting actual care. Plus, her staff consists mostly of recent grads who rotate out constantly. It’s a total gamble—if you get lucky, you might find someone decent, but most of the time, you won't.

My boyfriend is actually a dentist. Unfortunately, he isn't practicing in New York City, so I can't exactly send you his way—plus, he’s private practice, so he’s pricey.

Now, why am I even quoting this? Because his take on the whole situation was: "If that were actually true, I wouldn't have even a quarter of the patient load I have now."
So, hey, if it helped you, great. But claiming that avoiding sugar is a magic bullet to prevent tooth decay? That just isn't accurate.

That’s why you go to a private practice—you basically pay extra for the numbing injection $17 more than the actual dental work itself. Honestly, probably the biggest waste of money $17 in my entire life... 😁

Dr. Adriana; she runs her own practice over in Greenwich at 10 Main Street, and I couldn’t be happier with her. My whole family sees her now because I insisted on it, and everyone is thrilled. It sounds almost unbelievable, but I actually look forward to my dental appointments now. 😁
Most importantly, she makes me feel comfortable—she’ll even let me play my own music or watch a movie. She uses all the latest tech and materials, but honestly, her personality is what matters most to me.
My previous dentist would just rush through the job, doing the bare minimum, and that was it. This doctor actually takes the time needed. She explains every single step, so I never feel like I'm just being processed on an assembly line.
I don't mind the cost one bit, nor do I regret the long drive out there.
Anyway, I've rambled on quite a bit. I hope this helps.

I would highly recommend Dr. Mladen Karakaš, over in Brooklyn... he's in private practice, truly excellent... I actually ended up seeing him based on a recommendation from others... and I just stayed with him. He is polite, very professional... and his rates aren't even overly expensive.

Can anyone recommend a solid private dentist in Chicago? Ideally somewhere downtown or maybe near the Lincoln Park area...

Also, any idea what the going rate is for private visits? If you know...
