I honestly just need to vent about how incredibly rude and cold the dermatology department at Mayo Clinic was today. I was there seeing one of the nurses, and frankly, the lack of empathy was staggering. After wasting my time trying to reach them by phone with zero luck, I decided to just head down there in person to ask if they could take a quick look at my three-year-old. My kid has this awful rash that won't go away; it keeps coming back, and now it’s spreading to his eyelids and causing swelling. Instead of showing even a shred of concern, the nurse basically told me it wasn't an emergency and suggested I "learn how things work" around here. I actually had to ask her point-blank if she was a mother herself or what her deal was, and then asked for advice on what to do next. She just sat there, completely stone-faced, telling me I needed to make an appointment like everyone else. I kept repeating that this is a toddler and the rash is moving toward his eyes, but she showed absolutely no compassion. Zero. It really makes you wonder. If a neighbor, a friend, or someone she actually knew had walked in with a child in that state, I bet you anything she would have found a way to help. It’s infuriating. I truly struggle to understand how some people—especially women who are supposed to be caregivers—can be so utterly heartless when it comes to children. Disgusting.👎🙂And I should probably apologize if I completely missed the mark on this thread.
