(By a good doctor, I mean someone who won't dismiss my back pain as being all in my head, especially since my MRI shows a disc protrusion compressing the dural sac. Ideally, I'd like someone capable of reviewing the actual MRI images themselves to provide an independent opinion. This has been dragging on for months, my condition is deteriorating, and I've started having bladder issues, so I can't wait any longer. I am more than willing to pay whatever the necessary fees are. 😢 )

Dr. Sajko (who also sees private patients), Dr. Vukic, or Dr. Chudy.

I posted this on the page earlier, but since I haven't heard back from anyone, I’ll try again here: does anyone know a solid orthopedic surgeon in Washington, D.C.? Private practice is fine, but ideally, someone who truly specializes in sports medicine.

The Siget General Practitioner, covering Trnsko and all the surrounding areas, has finally filled out everything I asked for...

Dr. Bojanić

I suggest looking into your options through Medicare.

My dear friends,

I have quite a predicament: I am completely lost regarding which specific tests I actually need to undergo, but it seems everything related to sex hormones, thyroid levels, the pituitary gland, and who knows what else...

My Siget General Practitioner has absolutely no clue which specialist endocrinologist she should be referring me to; she simply wrote "endocrinology consultation" on the slip. As if they will just magically know what's wrong once I walk through the door.

So, I am asking: which hospital offers truly comprehensive endocrinology services, and is there a particular endocrinologist you would recommend?

Thank you all so much in advance for your help!

Just jumping back in here—I’m on the hunt for a solid endocrinologist. Honestly, I don't care if they're private practice or whatever, I just need someone who actually knows what they're doing. So far, everything I've dealt with has been nothing but pure, unadulterated misery.
(Dealing with PCOS and adrenal issues, and it's been a total nightmare.)

From the bottom of my heart, I truly recommend seeing Tanja Škorić at the Mayo Clinic. Both my sister and I have decided to go to her starting this year. Although I have only had a single appointment with her, she genuinely possesses both the time and the sincere will to care for every individual patient. She reviewed my entire medical history with such incredible depth and meticulous attention to detail.

I spent many, many years seeking treatment at Vinogradski, but once I realized they swap doctors on patients every single time someone shows up for an exam, I thought—I must go find better luck elsewhere. Isn't it simply terrible when you visit once or twice a year and are met by a completely different physician every single time?

Dr. Tanja Škorić specialized in endocrinology in Manchester before returning to America. That really impressed me, and I made sure to tell her so right away. I believe she appreciated my praise in return, as most people only ever know how to complain, whine, and criticize rather than offer a kind word of thanks.

All doctors—and in your specific case, all endocrinologists—are capable of performing essentially the same tasks. The real question is simply: how much heart does each individual doctor truly put into their specific patients?

Amatiel, any luck finding someone yet? I’m in the same boat, which is why I'm asking. Private practice works too.

I can't say much about Medicare coverage, but the private options at the Amruševa Clinic on Adamicev are decent enough. They have a partnership with Ghetaldus, so you can actually snag a discount on glasses there.

Jacob Mitchell, thanks for the heads-up! I'll probably just go ahead and order from them then.

Is there even one decent general practitioner left in the rural parts of the Midwest? Honestly, finding a normal doctor around here feels impossible lately.
I mean, honestly, I guess even Washington, D.C. could work if everything else falls through...
Got a kidney problem...

It’s a kidney issue...

The high-quality doctors are almost always fully booked. Regardless of how talented a physician may be, you simply must secure a referral for a specialist. General practitioners are not equipped with the necessary expertise to manage complex renal issues.

I’m looking for recommendations for a solid endocrinologist and an immunologist or rheumatologist in Washington, D.C.
Location and cost aren't issues; I just need someone who actually knows what they're doing.

(I have Hashimoto's, but for nearly five months now, I've been struggling with chronic back pain. Initially, they told me it was localized disc pressure on a nerve root (L5-S1), but the symptoms are far too non-specific—they're scattered all over my body and fluctuate daily. I never had any issues with my back before this. Right now, my biggest problems, aside from constant pain and discomfort in my hip and lower back, are a low-grade fever (99.7°F), vision issues, and breathing difficulties.)

Please help if anyone has dealt with similar (unpleasant) experiences; I am completely fed up with being brushed off by hospitals and hit with medical roadblocks. 🙂

All doctors—especially endocrinologists in your specific situation—can essentially perform the same tasks. The real question is simply how much heart each individual puts into their patients.

Nicole Barrett76, thank you so much for the reply! She and Dr. Miroševac from Vinogradski were my top favorites. I don't know which doctor you saw at Vinogradski, but I've heard Miroševac is wonderful too. Not quite as specifically recommended as what I just heard about Dr. Tanja (I'll try to get to her if I'm not satisfied with Miroševac), though from what I hear, Miroševac should be perfectly fine. The wait times there are long, but I believe I can get an appointment through a connection by the end of the month... And like you, I need a deep, thorough analysis and a careful reading of my results because my condition is a total "Dr. House" mystery.

I truly hope she lives up to my expectations and my trust, because I am reaching a breaking point. I'm disabled, and nobody can tell me why... while everything just keeps getting worse.

Ladies, I am looking for a top-tier abdominal surgeon capable of performing laparoscopic diagnostics and removing any potential adhesions.

Doctors suspect adhesions following a laparoscopic myomectomy. Of course, I’ll be running more tests to confirm, but that seems to be the most likely culprit. It is the final measure I am preparing for—and unfortunately, it feels quite inevitable—so I want to be ready. I need to book a consultation and an exam well in advance, given how long the waitlists are for everything. Even getting a consultation with a surgeon takes forever. I want to have everything lined up by the time the diagnostic results I'm about to undergo come back.

I am in a coma, girls; I am a total Dr. House case. Please, I need your help.🙂

Who can you recommend? I’m not even sure if a gynecological surgeon should handle this (are they allowed to clear out adhesions from everywhere?), or if I absolutely need a general abdominal surgeon? And please, don't ask me why I won't go back to my own gynecological surgeon. I have very good reasons... he isn't cut out for "Dr. House" cases. He didn't even have the time to figure out what was happening to me before the initial surgery. You get five minutes with him and that’s it... so whatever he happens to catch, he catches.😲
I honestly don't think I'd be facing this mess if he were actually different.😢

In any case, do you know of any highly skilled abdominal surgeons?

Thank you so much in advance! 🙂

Brenda Johnson68 said:I am not sure which department you visited at the Mayo Clinic, but I have heard that the Miroševac facility is also excellent.

(Just to clarify, I am male). I was under the care of Dr. Vrkljan for a period of time.

The core issue, however, is that since then, I have been shuffled between numerous physicians. This was never by my own choice; in fact, during my stays at the Mayo Clinic over the last few years, I seemed to encounter a different doctor every single time. Because I suffer from a rare condition, they actually asked if I would permit them to take clinical photographs—presumably for some doctoral thesis or perhaps even a future medical encyclopedia. Naturally, they ensure privacy by placing a strip over the eyes, and the images are rendered in black and white. I consented to their request. It was Dr. Šulentić who made the appeal; she has been practicing in London for some time now, and she truly was an exceptional physician. Yet, despite her skill, I cannot shake this lingering sensation of having been exploited, as if I were merely a test subject in a laboratory. This feeling persists regardless of the fact that I was hospitalized twice (once in 2009 and again in 2015).

The sole grievance I have with Dr. Škorić thus far is his refusal to prescribe T3 hormone tablets. How many doctors would actually possess the courage to manage such a prescription? Fortunately, I have heard that one can procure these tablets in Turkey or Greece. So, if anyone is inclined toward such risks, the choice is theirs.

I’m looking for a recommendation for someone like stormyharbor2 (a general practitioner), preferably someone who actually knows how to diagnose.

My previous doctor retired, and this new one just walked in and prescribed antibiotics for a cough without even sending me for blood work to see if an antibiotic was necessary in the first place. It's like trying to fix a car engine without checking if there's any oil in it.

P.S. stormyharbor2, what part of town are you in?

Hey there.

I'm looking for a solid dermatologist around Washington, D.C. My face is acting up with all sorts of random issues lately, and my skin has become super reactive to basically everything I put on it. I need someone who won't just hand me a prescription for drugstore pharmacy brands (like Vichy, L'Oréal, etc.) because I've already tried all of that.
Years ago, I was basically doing a pilgrimage to different dermatologists in another city, and now these hormone-related issues and other internal stuff are flaring up again. I really want to see someone who actually knows what they're doing.

If you have any leads or have dealt with similar stuff, let me know.
Thanks!
