I'm not mad, but it wasn't at Ariter—there was this really great vascular surgeon over at Synthesis. Honestly, I have no clue if he’s still working there. As for those other clinics, who knows what kind of vascular surgeons they have on staff? I just don't know.

Trust me, you'd be shocked at how many more there actually are. This was just a tiny fraction. These are just the ones I know for sure have cardiologists or endocrinologists on staff. There's probably at least 50 others floating around.

Urgent, everyone! Does anyone know if there's a private family practice or general practitioner available in New York City? I've been scouring the internet but I'm coming up totally empty-handed.
Thanks so much in advance!!!🙏

Unfortunately, she doesn't. I've actually been to see her several times for various checkups, but she doesn't issue referrals, write prescriptions, or sign off on medical leave
the way a primary care doctor would
You can get quite a few tests done there—but despite what you might see online, she doesn't run a general practice office
I even gave them a call today just to double-check

quietfox384 said:Wait, can you even get that done privately?
To be honest, I’m just as confused as everyone else—I haven't come across anyone who does that either.🤦

No way. There’s no way a private gynecologist can just hand you a referral or a prescription through Medicare. They can't.

Thanks a million in advance!!!🙏
You should check with Dr. Amerl Sakic Wednesday
She's open on Wednesday afternoons

They could just hand you a private prescription so you end up paying full price for the medicine anyway, or they’ll just send you straight to a specialist who's going to charge you a fortune too. Makes sense, right?

But they can't exactly write you a standard prescription, or a hospital referral, or anything like that, can they?

A private physician can only provide private prescriptions; any other type requires doctors who have a contract with Medicare. I realized that it's specifically that first type being requested.

If anyone happens to be looking for a gastroenterologist, there’s a younger doctor over at the Amrusev Clinic who is just wonderful—really professional and thorough. A few years back, she performed an ultrasound for someone who was completely immobile. She actually showed some genuine empathy, understanding that we couldn't lift them up on our own. It’s tough, because honestly, so many places—even private practices—won't even book an appointment once they hear the patient is immobile. And sometimes, people get discharged from the hospital without any follow-up care at all. I can send her name via Inbox if anyone really needs it.
If you're in the market for an ophthalmologist, the team at Light is quite decent and reliable; both my dad and I have been there several times. They also tend to be very understanding when dealing with patients who have mobility issues.
If anyone is searching for a private cardiologist, I actually have a recommendation for one, and also a heads-up on who might be better to avoid.
If you're in the market for an ophthalmologist, the team at Light is quite decent and reliable; both my dad and I have been there several times. They also tend to be very understanding when dealing with patients who have mobility issues.

If you need an ophthalmologist, the folks over at Light are solid. Both my dad and I have been there several times. They’re also pretty understanding when dealing with patients with mobility issues.
Also, if anyone needs a private cardiologist, I’ve got some recommendations on who to see and, more importantly, who to steer clear of.
mistyjackal842, there’s a catch though. There are private cardiologists who work in public hospitals too. As for who to avoid—probably those coming out of Vinograd. Look, it’s not like everyone has a bad experience. I’m under one of their care right now and they’re awesome for me. And I’m curious, which private cardiologists are we talking about here: Dr. Smalcelj, Dr. Manola, Dr. Stambuk, and so on? Who exactly should we be avoiding? One doctor might be amazing for one person and a total disaster for someone else. Also, how much does Light charge? Their prices aren't exactly cheap. There are plenty of other good ophthalmologists out there.

Look, nobody said there aren't other good ophthalmologists out there. My wife just recommended the ones she’s actually worked with before.
I can also vouch for Light; I've had quite a bit of experience with them since I've taken family members there. They're professional, quick, and efficient. They managed to fix most of our issues—though, sadly, some things just couldn't be helped.
I can't really compare prices, though, because I haven't been to any other eye clinics.

No, they aren't from Vinograd, and I'm really not going to mention them because I actually got banned from this subforum for doing exactly that. If you're interested, though, I can send you some info about a cardiologist via private message. For my dad, who was immobile, I took him to see two different private cardiologists. We went to one of them several times—dad used to go there on his own before things changed—but with the second one, I was the one making the calls, mostly because I was swayed by some of his published professional papers. But honestly? That consultation felt like nothing at all; the equipment they were using was just ancient, literally.
And no, it wasn't just Light, but that clinic isn't even operating anymore. After that, when Dad had issues, I did take him to Light, and they were actually quite decent.

As for those doctors with a mountain of scientific papers... it could be a "trick." They could be amazing, truly top-tier research. But usually, the more famous or the more secretive they are, the better they seem to be.

Which clinic stopped operating?
