A colleague of mine is seeing Dr. Miroslav Mayer (an immunologist) over at the major hospital downtown, and she’s actually really happy with him, but she did mention the wait times are brutal, and well, it’s always a bit of a gamble whether you'll actually vibe with the doctor or not...

Thanks so much, I'll definitely check the waiting list or see if he’s taking private patients anywhere else.

rapidnomad322 said:I'm looking for a recommendation for a female doctor at Loomis in Brooklyn. Someone who actually listens to what you say and knows their stuff (so you don't have to basically demand specific tests yourself), and doesn't just throw antibiotics at you the second you have a sore throat or a cold without even running a blood test. Ideally, someone where you don't need an appointment just to be seen, and you aren't stuck waiting in some hallway for two hours. Also, please, not someone who is "difficult" about signing off on sick leave—even though I almost never take it. It would be great if they communicate via email too (and actually reply!).

Thanks so much.

Maybe try the MUP Health Center in Dubrava. I'm not sure how they are, but they might be able to point you toward someone good.

The worst part is, I've actually already been there 😁 🙄 But thanks anyway, really.

Does anyone happen to know anything about doctors Jasminka Cvitkušić, Sunčan Vlah, or Iva Šašlin over at the Grižanska Health Center? Like, if they’re still working there and if they're even taking new patients?

Man, I honestly don't know. If they have that 2100 certification, they're technically required to take you in. You could probably check the Social Security Administration website, though I can't remember the exact link. The colors are: green, yellow, and orange.

As for the colors, they're green, yellow, and orange.

I tried looking into it myself, but the site I found wasn't really that helpful... at least not the one I happened to stumble upon...

Word on the street is that everyone is seeing doctors at the Trnjanski Health Center, and that they’re actually quite good—green-coded, available, and they have openings. Apparently, there are some great female doctors who are always on duty there. With my current doctor, the only real headache is getting prescription refills. And she just seems totally overwhelmed by emails; she clearly doesn't have the patience to read them. After dealing with some intense pain recently, I went to see a substitute doctor, and she actually refused to give me one of my referrals. It feels like she’s genuinely stressed out about me, but like, literally. Otherwise, the substitutes have been fine since there were plenty of them around. Now, I’m definitely the type of person who will push back or write a formal complaint, but this happened at a private facility back in March. It had nothing to do with general practice. Has anyone else had any experience with the Trnjanski Health Center?

You might have better luck heading to areas where there aren't quite as many people, specifically places with an older population. For instance, Downtown is pretty much empty, so you can find a spot easily—and honestly, they were actually really kind the last time I went. They’re taking people over at Trnje, too, though not at the main Health Center since that area isn't super crowded. It’ll be tough to get in around Dubrava or Trešnjevka, except maybe at one specific Health Center, and Sesvete is also slammed. In Sesvete, they mostly have to prioritize residents from the private nursing home, which is huge and always full. Downtown should also be an option depending on the specific location; some spots are packed, but I think they're short on staff. That color-coded traffic light system tells you exactly who is accepting patients. A few years back, I applied when my area was marked yellow, and it wasn't just general practice. So, even those in the yellow zones are taking people, though maybe not all the time.

So, my mother-in-law is seeing this doctor—I think her name is Kalšan, if I remember right—over at the Trnje Health Center, and she’s actually pretty happy with the care there, which is great. But honestly, all those neighborhoods are just way too far for me, even somewhere like Sesvete... like, if I actually get sick, I really don't feel like making the trek all the way to Downtown or over to Trnje, you know?

If by Trešnjevka you mean the MUP Health Center—yeah, no thanks, definitely not.

My dad's last doctor was honestly wonderful. She didn't mind getting emails at all. Even though she wouldn't come by to see him in person, her replies were always so kind and professional. It’s just... I don't know, where I am now, even just showing up seems to bother them. Some of the younger doctors there used to be great too, maybe even more experienced than the ones I'm dealing with currently. Still, I suppose I wouldn't move everything over there, even though they knew me well—first when I was coming in for my dad, and then once the pandemic hit, we handled everything through email.

Honestly, Dubrava is the only spot that really works for me, I guess, because I wouldn't even dream of heading out toward Sesvete. 🕺

Has anyone here dealt with Dr. Petrov or Petra Bago Rožanković (over at the Dubrava clinic, St. Catherine) regarding neurology?

Hey everyone,

Does anyone have any recommendations? Is there a clinic near Savannah where I can get an MRI done (besides Kalajžić or Medikol)?

Thanks in advance,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a private ankle ultrasound? If you've been somewhere or have some experience... maybe around the Chicago area, specifically on the west side.
Thanks in advance.

Well, it's not just the West Side—there are plenty of great options over there too. Personally, I’ve had nothing but excellent experiences with all my scans at St. Catherine.
And if you need orthopedic stuff, check out Acromion.

If anyone needs to get a heart ultrasound done privately, I’ll send you a recommendation in a DM. It isn't expensive at all, and the doctor is really good—honestly, I’m definitely planning on going back there in six months. Just keep in mind, they only perform the cardiac ultrasound itself; they don't do EKGs or prescribe medication there. But then again, that's why it costs less.
