Hey there, I have a quick request. Is there any way I could get my username changed? I’d really prefer something that doesn't include my full legal name. This account is about ten years old now, and honestly, it's becoming a bit of a privacy nightmare—whenever someone types my first and last name into Google, all my posts from this site pop right up in the search results. It's not ideal. Could we maybe switch it to something like IMIH93, or pretty much anything else, as long as it stays away from my actual name?

I'm just a random bystander here, but it might be worth mentioning to the guy that his real name is still gonna show up in the quotes of his own posts even after the nickname change happens.

We’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out, I guess, but honestly, there isn't really a way to fix this kind of thing through some automated system or whatever. It’s all stuff that would have to be handled manually, and we just don't do that—we never have, really.
I mean, I think it’s pretty vital that everyone actually takes a second to think about what kind of username they’re picking for the forum, just so we don't end up dealing with these kinds of messy consequences down the road.

But hey, regardless of all that, once his handle gets changed, he won't be popping up nearly as much in search engine results when someone types in a full name and surname like he is right now.

The handle "unknown" () was registered back on June 3rd, 2009. To be honest, I just dropped two posts within a few hours of signing up and then basically vanished. It hasn't been touched since, and honestly, it probably never will be again.

I took a look through the site rules regarding name changes, and according to rule #11, there's an option to approve a change if a user hasn't logged in for years and has a super low post count.

So, I'm asking if you guys could do me a solid and let me update my nickname from "unknown" to William Morales41.

As far as I’m concerned, I don't see why not, especially since looking at the logs, things were actually moving back like eleven years ago... I mean, maybe. Just do me a favor and reach out to Nice, then check in with her directly to see what she thinks, because she'll be the one to give you the final word on this. 🙂
