I first registered on this American forum last Friday.

I am currently living and working abroad (FR Germany), and I signed up using an email address that includes my full legal name.

My intention was to register under the handle "silentpanther2," which I have used for quite some time on various international portals and message boards.

Since that specific username is already taken on this forum...

...I opted for a similar variation that was available: "-silentpanther2-".

However, after setting up my profile and making a few posts, my account was banned the very next day without any explanation, other than a vague note stating it would never be reinstated.

I sent several emails to the administration at admin@forum.com but have received zero response or assistance.

Friends of mine who also post here reached out to tell me that the admins apparently mistook me for another user who posts similar content and has already been banned.

A similar situation occurred once on an overseas forum, but their administration resolved the identity confusion within 24 hours after verifying we were two different people.

I attempted to register again yesterday using my name-based email.

Unfortunately, I still haven't received a single reply from the local administration regarding how to resolve this issue.

Regarding the user silentpanther2—look, you're right about his activity levels, or rather his lack thereof, but I actually took a look at his profile and all his old posts (he’s got over 100 of them floating around here), and honestly, I don't think it's fair to strip him of his handle just because he hasn't been hanging out on the boards lately. So, yeah, we aren't making that change.
I'm just laying this out so you know how we handle similar requests that might pop up after this.

As for your own situation, please, do me a favor and stop trying to make clone accounts while you're sitting out your ban. If you keep trying to bypass the rules like that, the next time you get flagged, we'll just have to extend the suspension on your main account.

I'm honestly not sure how the system handles this on the forum.. I have zero interest in snatching some other user's handle, whether they're active or just some ghost account lurking in the background..
But as far as I'm concerned, it's definitely MoRoN—you can't just ignore the capitalization like that..
I'll shoot a message over to the admin and see what happens..

The forum's system is kind of a mess when it comes to capitalization in usernames, so it doesn't really tell the difference between big and small letters. Like, you can't even go looking for someone named Blabla if there's already a BLABLA account out there or something like that.

So yeah, MoRon and Moron are basically viewed as the exact same handle by the system. 🙂
And look, it’s not like you're just stealing a nickname or anything, I guess, if you actually want that specific one. Since the guy who owns it hasn't logged on in like 15 years and you're actually active here, we sometimes just approve those kinds of changes, so it's all good.
