There’s really no reason to just troll for the sake of it. Adding an accent to a single letter is totally fine, and honestly, those kinds of tweaks have already been cleared during previous edits. This isn't some special case.

The registration date isn't actually what we look at when deciding whether to approve a name change for an inactive account.
For that kind of thing to happen, usually the user has basically zero posts, or if they do have them, they're all just 'junk' posts, and most importantly, they haven't logged into the forum in years—so it's pretty obvious the handle is just 'abandoned.' Only in cases like that would we even consider approving the change, so yeah, not happening here.
And Frank Reed4 was active recently, regardless of whether he's posting on this specific forum or not.

Greetings, I have a question—well, more of a request, actually—since the rules state that "content-based" nickname changes aren't permitted. Now, I was looking to change my handle to that exact thing, but perhaps a compromise might work? Similar to how some other forums handle this: I could simply update my signature to include something like "formerly known as [current name]," maybe in bold if necessary. I’ve already cross-referenced the member list, and the new one—Henry Barthes, obviously without the parentheses or that extra bit after the comma, and omitting the comma itself—is currently available.

If this post gets deleted, I'll take that as a definitive "no." 😁

We don't use the whole "definitive 'no' via post deletion" routine here. 😁 Unless you read the first post and just get a flat "no" without the deletion part, so there's no need to worry. 🙂

As for your requested change—even though that specific handle is technically free, it unfortunately bears no resemblance to your current one, and we simply don't allow those kinds of shifts. If we granted your request, we'd be obligated to approve every single person asking for a complete identity overhaul, and frankly, that would be a total mess.

Yeah, true, I guess the registration process just strips out those accents entirely. But look, the manual fixes people ask for here—you know, where they need a specific accent on a certain letter—those actually go through, probably because they're being handled via the admin panel.
Though, honestly, sometimes the server just flat-out refuses to accept it even then. It’s mostly just a server issue, really; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, it's kind of random.

From what I can tell, there’s already a user named "mina" who signed up back on March 27, 2009. She only has one single post and hasn't logged in since March 30, 2009. Unfortunately, no.
The user currently holding that handle has contributed some solid content, even if she hasn't been around lately. Besides, we don't allow duplicate handles here. It’s impossible to have two different profiles sharing the same username on this forum.

Unfortunately, neither of those options will work.
There is already a user registered under the name 'asid'; while they haven't posted anything, the registration date isn't very old, so the name is effectively unavailable.
As for 'Asid,' it is considered the exact same username as 'asid.' The system doesn't distinguish between uppercase and lowercase letters.
