That happens because you forget to ditch the massive quote block after you highlight and cite specific bits... you just leave the whole damn thing from when you hit the quote button at the bottom. Just kill that first quote before you start typing your reply. ".
Nah, then his name won't even show up

nor will there be a link back to his original post. What I always do is just snip the tag from the end and slap it onto the end of the first section you actually want to talk about,
and then for everything else, just use that "highlight then quote" trick

let me see how it looks

I think this exact question was already answered in this thread, but if I tried reading through everything right now, I'd probably just get confused and lose track...

My bad! This post is totally useless. Forget my question, I figured out how to do it just now. Thanks.

Just deleted, marked, and hit the icon—done.

=Aal_Mahmud;36354813]New here, so can someone just tell me how to quote multiple posts at once and reply to them all in one go?
Pretty sure this was already answered in this thread, but I don't have the patience to dig through everything right now... would probably just confuse me more.

My bad! This post is useless now. Figured it out on my own. Thanks.

So far, astronomers have identified three planets outside our solar system—exoplanets, to be precise—that experts believe could potentially serve as homes for future generations of colonists. Back in May, American astronomers discovered Gliese 581 D, located roughly 20 light-years away; it’s about six times the size of Earth and part of a system containing at least six planets. Then, just three months later, a Swiss person reported that another planet, HD 85512b, sitting 36 light-years out, might actually be habitable. This particular planet, tucked away in the Veli valley, has a mass approximately 3.6 times that of Earth.

Stop quoting like that.
If someone else (who clearly hasn't mastered BBCode) decides to quote you by clicking "Quote," their post is going to look like this mess:

Here is my process (I’ll go into as much detail as possible): From the very beginning....):
To quote a post: first, hit the Quote button so the original message appears. Highlight the specific section you want to address, then click that little icon—you know, the one that looks like a comic book speech bubble. Wrap the designated text by placing "quote:" at both the beginning and the end.I’ll add my commentary right after that quote at the end. Then, I'll highlight the second section again. Same process: icon, followed by my response behind the quote.

.....

Why does everything end up trapped inside one giant quote block at the bottom of my post—including both my smaller quotes and my actual comments? It makes sense, given that my own comments are tucked inside the main quote block. Doesn't it?
I’m missing something. Either I’m doing something wrong, or there's a step I've completely overlooked, and for some reason, nobody can tell me what it is.🤷

....

Everyone keeps telling me to highlight the text, hit the icon, and leave a comment. So that’s exactly what I’ve been doing, but look at the results I'm getting...

.....

Something isn't clicking. I’m asking for someone with a bit of patience to look over my work; I need help identifying exactly where my logic is failing.🙂

Edit: This version works much better.

I have a feeling this exact question has been addressed somewhere in this thread already, but honestly, trying to dig through everything right now would just lead to a massive headache and I’d probably lose my way before finding the answer.

My bad! Scratch that—this post is totally redundant. I figured out how to do it just now. Thanks anyway.

Was that it?

This was my first time trying this test. Honestly, all it took was a tiny bit of focus and enough time to actually read what everyone else wrote. I'm not trying to be difficult or mean, it's just that everything is laid out right here. No point in me overcomplicating things with an explanation.
One of the moderators (some guy with a name like Scorpios or whatever) said he couldn't have made it any simpler than this.

I'm still getting the hang of things, you know? Some days I feel like I've got it down and other days I'm totally lost, but I'm taking it slow; I only recently started using the Tapatalk app and I definitely still have a learning curve to get over.

Once you've tagged them all, just click the regular Quote button on that final post. Everything should automatically wrap itself in those quote tags, giving you the freedom to clean up any fluff, bold the parts that actually matter, or slide your own commentary in between the blocks of text. It's pretty straightforward, really.

Is there anyone out there willing to take the time to walk me through this 😁 step-by-step? I need someone to explain how to format the quotes properly. What exactly am I supposed to delete, what do I need to add, or which buttons should I be clicking to get everything looking right? Honestly, I’ve been scrolling through these forums reading one person say one thing and then another person saying the complete opposite, and it’s leaving me totally lost—nothing I try seems to work! Can someone just give me a straight answer, like a standard forum setup where you list the username and then the text right next to it? I’m seriously at my wit's end here. 😕 Thanks in advance 🙂

Hit the quote button, and you get this:

image

Highlight the section you want to delete.

image

Delete it.

image

Type your own text.

Submit.

This is how it looks:

Is anyone willing to go through this with me word for word? 😁 Explain how to properly format a quote within a post. What exactly do I need to remove, add, or highlight—specifically which buttons should I press—to ensure everything looks exactly right?

I’ve been scrolling through this forum trying to make sense of everything—one person says this, another claims that—and frankly, I’m completely lost. No matter how I approach it, nothing seems to click. It feels like a chaotic mess. Honestly, if people could just use a standard format—you know, the user's handle followed by their actual message on the right—it would be much easier to follow. Right now, I'm at my wits' end. 😕 Thanks in advance. 🙂
