Let's see how much I actually know...

vividraven7 said:This was my first time trying this test. Honestly, all it took was a tiny bit of focus and enough time to actually read what everyone else wrote. I'm not trying to be difficult or mean, it's just that everything is laid out right here. No point in me overcomplicating things with an explanation.
One of the moderators (some guy with a name like Scorpios or whatever) said he couldn't have made it any simpler than this.

And just how much focus does it take?...

ruggedpanther2 said:So far, astronomers have identified three planets outside our solar system—exoplanets, to be precise—that experts believe could potentially serve as homes for future generations of colonists. Back in May, American astronomers discovered Gliese 581 D, located roughly 20 light-years away; it’s about six times the size of Earth and part of a system containing at least six planets. Then, just three months later, a Swiss person reported that another planet, HD 85512b, sitting 36 light-years out, might actually be habitable. This particular planet, tucked away in the Veli valley, has a mass approximately 3.6 times that of Earth.

That's pretty interesting...

Walter Reyes2 said:Is there anyone out there willing to take the time to walk me through this 😁 step-by-step? I need someone to explain how to format the quotes properly. What exactly am I supposed to delete, what do I need to add, or which buttons should I be clicking to get everything looking right? Honestly, I’ve been scrolling through these forums reading one person say one thing and then another person saying the complete opposite, and it’s leaving me totally lost—nothing I try seems to work! Can someone just give me a straight answer, like a standard forum setup where you list the username and then the text right next to it? I’m seriously at my wit's end here. 😕 Thanks in advance 🙂

I really hope I don't end up feeling desperate too! http://www.pic4ever.com/images/gaah.gif

I have a feeling this exact question has been addressed somewhere in this thread already, but honestly, trying to dig through everything right now would just lead to a massive headache and I’d probably lose my way before finding the answer.

My bad! Scratch that—this post is totally redundant. I figured out how to do it just now. Thanks anyway.

Still practicing...
Elizabeth Howard8 said:=Aal_Mahmud;36354813]New here, so can someone just tell me how to quote multiple posts at once and reply to them all in one go?
Pretty sure this was already answered in this thread, but I don't have the patience to dig through everything right now... would probably just confuse me more.

My bad! This post is useless now. Figured it out on my own. Thanks.

Still practicing.....

tags, and then you can edit them independently to strip out unnecessary text, bold what matters, or just add your own flavor

So, this is my first post looking like this. Exciting.

I don't really know what to make of this one. It’s like staring at a blank page in a notebook and trying to decide if you should doodle a cat or just start writing a poem. Sometimes things just feel a bit unfinished, you know? Like a song that ends right before the best beat drops. Anyway, just thinking out loud! kaže:
I guess I’m just too slow to wrap my head around this one. 😢
Just testing the waters here to see if I'm actually too dim to wrap my head around this multi. 🙂

shadowpilot8 said:Peter, it’s quite simple. Just highlight the specific text you want to address and click the "Wrap Quote" icon, then type your response after it. Repeat the process by highlighting the next section and clicking the icon again.
Everything ends up nested inside one massive quote because you aren't deleting the closing tag at the end. When you hit the quote button, the forum automatically adds the opening and closing tags; leave the first one so people know what you're replying to, but manually delete that
tag at the bottom.
Delete.

I’m dying to know—what was the score on that first attempt? 😕

Where am I missing the mark? If you could provide some more specific guidance, I’d appreciate it.

My current process is a bit of a cumbersome workaround—I tend to hit Quote, copy the entire block, strip out the parts I don't need, write my response, then paste the whole thing back in just to prune it again, and repeat the cycle indefinitely.

redhawk76 said:Does that make sense?
I usually handle this through a much more convoluted process—I hit Quote, copy the entire block,

Work for you?
strip out the parts I don't need, write my reply, then paste the whole mess back in, delete the clutter, answer, and repeat the cycle indefinitely...

Got it?

works
jadetrucker43 said:If you’re looking to pull in a few different posts at once, just hit that "Multi-Quote" option—it's right there next to the standard Quote button—for every message you want to reference, except for the very last one. Once you've tagged them all, just click the regular Quote button on that final post. Everything should automatically wrap itself in those quote tags, giving you the freedom to clean up any fluff, bold the parts that actually matter, or slide your own commentary in between the blocks of text. It's pretty straightforward, really.

works

that's the quote. just click it, you'll see 🙂

just watch out, that quote with the parentheses ( / ) always goes at the end of whatever you're quoting, while the one without the 'slashes' goes at the start 🙂

I'm hoping I'm in the right spot where it's okay to vjezbati.

Just a heads up, that quote format with the parentheses ( / ) always goes at the end of what you're quoting, while the one without the 'slashes' goes at the beginning 🙂

Because nothing I read actually makes sense until I try it myself.

Keith Rodriguez27 said:That’s because they stay trapped in that giant quote box since you forget to delete the original big quote you get when you first hit the quote icon at the bottom of the post. You gotta wipe that first quote out before you start adding your own commentary. But if you do that, you lose the person's name and the link back to their original post. So, here's the move: do what I always do—just grab that
tag from the very end of the post and paste it right after the specific section you actually want to reply to, then use the "highlight and quote" method for the rest of your stuff.
Sounds simple enough. Hopefully, I won't screw this one up.🤷

First off, delete that initial quote before you start replying to the post. If you don't, his username won't show up, and you'll lose the link back to his original message.
Testing this out.

Well, you could always just do what I always do—cut it out.
Just hit the end of the post and paste it onto the bottom of the first section you want to comment on. For everything else, just use the standard quote function.

Here we go again.

No, that simply wouldn't work.
To what end?
Where exactly am I missing the mark? If you could provide some more detailed guidance, I’d appreciate it.

And why exactly is that the case?

My process is a bit more convoluted than most—I tend to quote the entire block, strip away the parts that don't serve my point, provide my response, and then repeat the cycle by pasting the full quote again only to prune it once more.
It’s stalling, and we’re nearly at the finish line...

Here is how I’m approaching this (I’ll provide as much detail as possible), From the very beginning....):
To quote a post, you simply hit the Quote button to trigger the quoted block; then, highlight the specific section of text you intend to address and click the icon—that little speech bubble symbol—to finalize your comment. Wrap Quote the designated portion of the text should be enclosed within quote tags at both the beginning and the end Wrap QuoteI will append my commentary following that Wrap Quote at the end; I’ll highlight the second section once more; add the icon again; and then follow up with another comment right after the quote.

It seems my formatting has gone completely sideways; everything—from my own commentary down to those smaller nested quotes—is getting swallowed up by one massive, oversized quote block at the end of the post. It makes sense, I suppose, given that my own remarks are nested within the primary quote block... wouldn't you agree?
I feel as though I am missing a crucial step in my process, or perhaps there is a fundamental flaw in my approach that remains stubbornly out of reach, yet despite my efforts, the error eludes everyone's perception.🤷
Everyone keeps telling me the same thing: highlight the text, hit the icon, leave a comment. So, I follow the instructions to the letter, but when you look at the actual results... well, the outcome speaks for itself.
Something isn't quite clicking, so I would appreciate it if someone with a bit of patience could take a look at my task list and help me pinpoint exactly where my logic is faltering.🙂

I’m going to give this another shot and see if I can actually wrap my head around the material.

Here’s how I’m handling this (I'll get into the weeds on this one): From the very beginning....):
To quote someone, just hit "Quote" on their post, and the quoted text will pop up. Highlight the specific part you want to comment on, then click that little icon—you know, the one that looks like a comic book speech bubble. Quote : Butterfly dio označenog teksta dobije oznake quote: na početku i na kraju Quote : ButterflyI'll drop a comment after that Quote : Butterfly at the end.
It looks like I’ve finally figured it out.🙂
